[April Fool] Forum Security Leak
Forum-Index → News → [April Fool] Forum Security LeakUPDATE: You have been fooled!
There never was a security leak and the "Mod Forum" is completely 100% fake :P
Our moderators and me have worked hard on creating a (weird) fake mod forum for this special day to fool you all! Well, some of you actually respected my advice in this post - but I'm very glad that there were also many among you who were curious enough to check out the mod forum :D
It's still open and visible for all - so if you haven't visited it already, do it now!
And don't worry, the moderators aren't actually playing Username Bingo or having unserious spammy discussions in the real Mod Forum XD It was all an act.
Forum Security Leak
I was told by several users that apparently the Moderator forum is public for everyone. This forum is normally used by our mod stuff for internal discussions about reports, rule updates and other necessary plans around the forums.
IMPORTANT: Do not access this forum!
Unfortunately, I'm not at home until Friday and cannot fix the problem as I have no direct access to the server. But please do not access it in the meantime; please respect that our moderators have a private forum in which we have private discussions!
How this security issue was caused & why I cannot fix it
First of all: Do not panic about that. This was not the work of a hacker or anything similar. This security leak will also not affect the rest of the forum, your personal account or anything.
There is a so called Mod Panel which can only be accessed by mods (and is still not accessible for you!), in which they can control various things around the site - including our subforums.
As you all know, today is April 1st, the official troll day, and this was the incentive for one of our moderators (who's name will not be mentioned at this place) to troll us (the rest of the mod staff) a little by changing the title of the Mod Forum in the Mod Panel Settings. The moderator thought it'd be funny to change the name to "Riako's Army" (Which is actually not funny and caused this !$(%§ error). Unfortunately, this title contains a special character ('), which broke the code. (As you can see on the right side. That's how the mod panel looks right now and I cannot fix it until I have direct access to the server's code).
Sooooooooo.... yeah <_< *crawls to a totally annoyed corner until I can fix it*
I'll fix it as soon as possible (and will have a serious talk with this mentioned moderator.)
I don't really want to look at it though, because in all honesty I kinda don't care. Mod stuff is mod stuff, I'm not a mod, I do not want to be a mod, so, yeah.
Kinda disappointed in the people who will look at this though.
