Blocking Button!
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Implemented → Blocking Button! Also, yes, I know Navuso suggested this, but the difference is that you may still communicate. It's not very 'friendly' to be able to make someone unable to have any kind of contact with you.
Also, I do not suggest a whole lack of communication. Why would someone be not allowed to PM you or comment at your feeds/see them?
Not all of the different options are for everyone. However, I've got a lot of pms from people just looking to pick fights. (Nothing rule-breaking, but more than enough to be uncomfortable, and telling them to stop doesn't prevent anything)
Some users attack other users through feeds ("Go die" is one I have actually seen. And when it's spammed, it should be possible to prevent any further messages)
There would need to be a block all or a selective blocking, but not all of it applies to everyone. Also:
Excuse me, but your first post states the very same thing for PMs. And for palpad, there's already a very very very useful way to block users from contacting you. It's called "Friend's only" and if they pester you too much, just remove them from friends. (as all the friends list does is has you watch their feeds. or let you give them a random plushie, possibly.)
You state my suggestion sounds unfriendly for the site, but it was suggested from personal negative experiences. And blocking is a lot more friendly than getting harassed while the staff are trying to deal with the reports (especially if it's from one user who has been reported multiple times for the same type of harassment)
It's a lot more friendly than getting your pms flooded by someone wanting something and not stopping until they get locked for a bit.
It's a lot more friendly than users intentionally doing things they know will irritate you, even after being told to stop, while nobody is available to stop it right that very minute.
I don't know about you, but the block list with the multiple options is a better option than JUST a feature that can already be kind of done AND the same suggestion as a minor one.
You say that you don't want to stop people from contacting you but this
is written exactly as is in your first post. You're kind of contradicting yourself with that one.
For now I'm going to say that this should not be implemented with the grounds that it is exactly like Navuso's suggestion.
