This will probably get rejected, but I have an idea for when you are changing your username. I understand why there is the 4 months wait time before you can change your username again (so people aren't getting confused if you constantly change your username) but sometimes mistakes are made, so maybe there should be like a 5-10 minute grace-period before your new username is set in stone for 4 whole months.

I, for example, was once severya, but I wanted to change my username to Severya (with a capital S) but it kept saying that someone else had that username even though it was only me. So I can only assume that usernames are not caps-sensitive. So, idiotically, I had changed my name to what it is now (asdfghjklpoiuytrewq) and planned to change it back to Severya (this time with a capital S) without noticing the 122 day rule. So I'm stuck like this for four months. I understand that this is my own fault, but it still got me thinking. What if someone made an accidental typo? What if someone changed their mind? What if someone, like me, simply wanted to change between capital and lower case letters?

So basically, my idea is to give a user like 5 or 10 minutes once they have changed their username to make sure that they are happy with their username. After the 5 or 10 minute grace-period, the username will be set for the minimum of 4 months, but I feel like it might help if someone makes a mistake with their username.

I understand that this probably doesn't affect many people, but it could one day. It would probably make some users feel better to have a safety net in case they mess up in the future rather than messing up one day and regretting having to live with their mistake for 4 months

Full support. This is why I don't want to change my username: What if I do a typo? What if I end up not liking my new user? What if...?

If your fear is making a typo when changing your user name, then write it someplace with a dictonary or double or triple check.

And I'm not sure why you'd ever change your name to asdf.... gibberish on your own free will. Not only is it not the fault of the site but it was your choice and to be honest I'm not sure how you managed to write that out without seeing it and thinking "I don't want this to be my new user name" and delete it. And the fact you didn't notice the 122 day rule, a rule put there for a reason, it isn't the fault of the site and shouldn't be changed because of a mistake you made.

So, no support. You should be more careful when writing your user name. Instead of putting what you just put.

In such cases ("asdfghjklpoiuytrewq") you may also contact me and request an immediate username change. (However, please just in such rare cases and only if it was a true accident. It takes much effort for me to change it and I don't want to change typos and capital letters every day)

support.
If I mess up, I'm gonna be feeling stupid for 4 months, so, yeah.
It would be pretty cool if we had that little amount of time there, kind of like how we can swap out pokemon for wonder trade before it starts
It would also be pretty cool if we could change the capitalization of letters in usernames without having to wait 4 months to change it again

I will answer you questions to the point 030

What if someone made an accidental typo?

Then they just have to wait 4 months i mean its not that much time anyways after all i mean at least its not permanent, plus there's no accidental typos people should make sure before pressing the button that its the right username.

What if someone changed their mind?

They can wait 4 months its not like the world is going to end plus the username that they picked before should not be bothersome since they picked it, you just have to wait a while.

What if someone, like me, simply wanted to change between capital and lower case letters?

Well apparently you didn't you changed your name to "asdfghjklpoiuytrewq" instead of directly changing it to capital/lower case letters. Also you should have read everything carefully before changing your username i mean you just don't post without reading rules right? So to avoid this you should really read thoroughly next time.

Techie, she TRIED changing it directly to a capital letter, and the site didn't let her because her name was already severya. That, at least, is not a valid reason not to support.
I do think that, at the very least, you should be allowed to change the capitalization of your username without waiting four months in between.

Well CarpetMonster in this situation she should have contacted Riako directly plus she should have read about the 4 months wait before taking any action to avoid this kind of sitiuation.

For the people who are saying that I could contact Riako, the whole reason that I didn't was because I didn't want to trouble him or waste his time with it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that maybe doing this would save him more time in the long run versus getting multiple people every month or so asking him to change their usernames

And as for what Queen_Pumpkaboo said, I already explained some of those things.
"And I'm not sure why you'd ever change your name to asdf.... gibberish on your own free will." (it was because I was going to change it back right after. I was simply trying to get my name to not be severya so I could change the capitalization.) "Not only is it not the fault of the site but it was your choice and to be honest I'm not sure how you managed to write that out without seeing it and thinking "I don't want this to be my new user name" and delete it." (Yes, I am fully aware that it was my own fault. I'm not trying at all to blame the site. And I didn't want asdfghjklpoiuytrewq to be my new username, I was just trying to temporarily change it so that I could then change it back to Severya) "And the fact you didn't notice the 122 day rule, a rule put there for a reason, it isn't the fault of the site and shouldn't be changed because of a mistake you made." (I am also aware that it is no one's fault but my own that I didn't see the rule. Seriously, I am NOT trying to blame the site for any of this! I was in a hurry and I had limited time, so I didn't think about reading it. I also had said in my original post that I understand why the 122 day rule is there, and it is a reasonable rule.)

I feel like some people aren't understanding what I'm trying to say. I am NOT trying to get rid of the 122 day rule. I am NOT trying to get the 122 days shortened. I am NOT trying to put the blame of my own actions onto anyone on the site or the site itself. I am simply trying to suggest that when you want to change your username that you can have a 5 minute period before it's set in stone for the 122 days. I realize that some people may believe that it's not worth Riako's time to implement it and I respect your opinion on that. I had just thought that maybe instead it would save Riako some trouble of getting people to request an immediate name change. I can't really say because I don't know how many name-change requests he gets in a month or in a year, I was just honestly trying to be helpful. I also considered maybe instead suggesting that the name change be caps-sensitive, but I realized that someone could take another user's username and just change one letter into a capital or lower case letter.

Trust me, I HAVE thought this through. I'm not just making a suggestion because "I feel like it". Like I said, I kind of expect this to be rejected, but I honestly am just trying to help for the greater good and not just for my own purposes. Am I a little sad that I'm stuck with this username for four months? Yes. Am I deciding to make a suggestion just for myself? No. Even if it was implemented, it wouldn't affect me because it has been way longer than 5 minutes before I changed my name.

I definately support this, and i know exactly what you're trying to say. It would save Riako a lot of time so he wouldnt have to change username errors for people. If we had a grace period set, we could fix mistakes like that. And i know you didnt choose to set your name to asdfghjkloiuytrewq or whatever and you just did it so you could set your name back to what it was, with a capital letter.

I feel your pain.

@[user]Techie[/user, this may sound a little offensive. But I think your being a little harsh:
Quote from TechieWell CarpetMonster in this situation she should have contacted Riako directly plus she should have read about the 4 months wait before taking any action to avoid this kind of sitiuation.

I think I have to support this one, because this suggestion will do well as the time goes on, and prevent more stress for Riako too.

Be glad that you can even change the usernamer after creating you're account.
I really dont get why people want to change their name all the name if you change it change it into a name that you know you love so much you dont want to be different.
