Agathe smiled broadly, hearing the angered whispers settle into
soft little murmurs that only made a soft hushed noise. "I don't
know if your ability works on the gods Sasha... Why would they have
done that to you if it worked against them?"
"It works on us. Partially why most are so afraid of her. And why
Athena won't let anyone kill her. Strategist and that jazz. She
wants an ace in case anyone makes her made enough. She's a
conniving, cold, cruel woman," Ares sighed, shaking his head. "I
can't undo her curse, Sasha. I'm sorry. But I can twist it. Alter
it to work for you and your decendants."
"Really?" Sasha asked, eager to hear what he had in mind. She
pulled back, moving closer to Agathe.
"My plans are to ensure that they can only have a child out of
love, not because some jerk comes along and forces it. If Zeus can
pop Athena out of his head, why can't gorgons have magic children
as well?" Ares asked, sounding proud of his reasoning.
"So...you would bypass biology and I could have a child with
anyone? So long as we loved each other?" Sasha asked, her gaze
flicking to Agathe.
Agathe, being blind, didn't see Sasha's glance, but she wondered
about her being the other half of the parent body for the child.
"That's brilliant Ares... The only problem is, what if no one else
comes to the island?" She had meant for future gorgons, but it
could be taken as though Agathe didn't think of Sasha that way.
Sasha bit her lip, watching the other woman more. She had no idea
how to flirt, how to make it known she liked her. But maybe she
didn't need to worry. Maybe Agathe didn't like her like that.
"Athena's curse ensures the line continues. Somehow, magic will get
someone here. I would like to think it brought you here, Agathe.
You are part of the inspiration for this," Area replied knowingly.
Agathe couldn't see her blush, but blush she did. "I am? I-I mean,
I do like you Sasha..." She bit her own lip, worried that if the
feelings weren't returned then whatever they had would be made
awkward and uncomfortable. She wrung her hands together as they
hung in front of her. She felt like a small child waiting for the
bigger kid to turn her away.
Sasha took a deep breath, relieved. Then she hurried to slither
over, huggijg Agathe. "I like you too...so, so much. I feel safe
with you and want to protect you."
Agathe let out the breath she didn't know she'd been holding as she
hugged Sasha. "I feel the same..." She could tell by the tone in
Ares' voice how he was holding his lips in a smirk. "You did? Was
it you who guided my boat?" She wasn't upset at all, just curious.
Ares smiled, a blush creeping over him. "The god of war is a softy
and a hopeless romantic," he told her, a nonanswer answer. "...so
yeah."
Sasha giggled before closing her eyes and making her way back over
to Ares. She hugged him, not caring if he wanted it or not. "Thank
you, Ares. Thank you."
Agathe's smile was pure and beautiful. It practically glowed.
"Thank you." She whispered as she walked over to hug him as well.
She not only owed him her life, but she had Sasha thanks to him.
"You're welcome, Agathe. With your unique ability and demeanour, I
had to save you. Had to get you someplace you would be safe and
looked after. Only after I sensed you liked each other did I think
I had done anything really good," Ares babbled.
"You did very good, if I may say so," Agathe whispered, a stray
tear finding its way down her cheek. She let go and stepped back.
"Okay, I'll give you more thanks later... What do you need to do to
help Sasha?" She wanted to make sure that she didn't need to do
anything or get anything.
Sasha nodded, sliding in to sit herself next to Agathe. "Very well.
You might need to add matchmaker to your godly powers," she teased,
finding herself incredibly grateful to Ares. He was also family and
she was relieved to have family who cared about her period. The
fact he actually had done so much for her well being and would do
more? Sasha felt she was going to cry. It took everything in her
not to dart forward and give him another hug. "Thank you so, so
much," she whispered.
"You are both so very welcome. As for altering the curse, I already
prepped things. I didn't want to get here and chance someone
stopping us. Poseidon forbid anyone coming to see you. He's mad
about your rejection. Which makes him so incredibly stupid about
this whole thing. He'll keep trying to stop us alone until he
remembers others have a grudge. We so do not want Athena to come
stop this. She's a strategist and no fun to lose to," Ares said,
stepping closer. "All we need to do now is spill a little blood. A
pinprick is really all it needs. But from each of us. After that,
the spell is complete and you two can do whatever you'd like, in
terms of making a family. It still works the same way. Certain
activities will need to happen before there is any baby made. So
cuddling, being close and adorable together won't cause random
babies to appear."
Agathe held out her left hand without hesitation. "It seems that
you put a great deal of thought into this adjustment to her curse.
Thank you. I don't really know what I could offer a god in return,
but if there is anything I can do, all you need to do is just ask."
For Sasha she would give the same. If it was a question of Sasha's
happiness, she would give as much as she could, up to and including
her life. She realized that she truly did have strong feelings for
Sasha.
Sasha shook her head. It was too much. What had she done? To have
Agathe and Ares on her side? She sniffled, keeping her eyes closed
so she didn't accidently hurt Ares. "What can I do? How can I even
begin to thank the two of you?"
"By cherishing each other and having a wonderful life, you two will
have helped me out. But if I ever need further assistance, I will
keep you both in mind," Ares told the woman. He picked up a clean
knife from Sasha's set in the kitchen and made a small cut on both
girls index fingers. He cut his own left index finger before
bringing their hands together. The blood hissed when it met his and
Ares chanted his addition to his sisters curse. Then he healed both
woman's fingers. "There. You should both be fine. But if you need
me, I do listen to prayers. The quickest way to reach me is to
shout at me, literally."
Agathe didn't flinch or make any noise as her finger was cut, but
she did seem surprised when the slight pain went away. She smiled
and chuckled. "I'm not usually one for praying, but you might hear
me from time to time, if only to talk."
"Those are the best kinds of prayers. Just talking. Especially with
people I like," Ares said, squeezing her shoulder. "I should
go...leave you girls in peace and get dear old dad to make his
little brother heal. Be careful. Both of you." He said, hugging
both woman.
"Thank you, Ares...you are my favorite...thank you for showing me I
was wrong. You are amazing. You be careful too. And call on us if
you need help," Sasha murmured.
"I may just be a human, but I have a great many friends among the
animals who would be happy to help me help a friend." Agathe hugged
him, her idea of what a god acted like was flipped on its head. She
very much liked Ares, and she agreed with Sasha. He was her
favorite.
