"The whole world seems to be corrupt. Why should everyone suffer? I
do good things with the money on so generously donated from these
banks. I'm like Robin Hood. Was Robin Hood a bad guy?" Octavia
asked, cocking her head in a smug, confident way. "Yes I am
offering to take care of you. You shouldn't be out doing dangerous
thingd like this at your age. You are much too young!"
"But how do you know you're not taking the money of good people?"
Maggy shook her head. "I have parents and I'm doing just fine thank
you very much." She felt the rope holding her hands come loose, but
she held onto it so it looked like it was still tied on tightly.
"Look, we just met, I don't think you want to go around just
adopting people willy nilly. Plus, I pressed the panic button
underneath that desk, so the police should be here any mi-" As if
on cue, police sirens could be heard in the distance. "And there
they are."
"Then it looks like my darlings and I have to go. You, child, can
stay right here. We'll meet again, I am sure. Something tells me
things are not fine. Not by a long shot. But seeing as you want to
play hero," Octavia sighed, picking her way through debris as she
trudged back through the bank. "Stay," she said, giving Thorn one
last look from the doorway before closing it. She needed to move
quickly now. Most of her corgis were in the car, waiting. Climbing
inside to the drivers seat, she flipped on the lights and sirens of
her car, smiling to herself. Taking off, she pushed the speed
limits. Enough to give her car an air of authenticity. After all,
the police didn't know this animal rescue vheicle was not one of
theirs. But that girl...Octavia shoved the thought out of her head,
focusing on the road. Tonight was a win. Her darlings had loaded up
enough money to last a good long while. Not that it meant she
wouldn't be liberating more cash somewhere else soon.
Maggy had been unable to see into the back, and hadn't been able to
block it off with vines. She growled as the woman and the dogs got
away, but quickly turned to untie and free the rest of the people.
She ended up slipping out with them passing herself off as the
daughter of one of the hostages until the police gathered everyone
and assessed their injuries. During the process she managed to get
away and back to her warehouse home. What was up with that woman?
Out of the blue offering to adopt her? What was with that? She
would have her work cut out for her if she was to run into that
woman again, and she had a feeling she would. She shook the
thoughts out of her mind and tended to her plants. She'd enjoy a
few hours at the farmer's market the following day and hopefully
that'd give her some time to relax.
