Cassie headed along the halls and slowed as she came to the bedroom of Jason. She'd never been there, but she knew it was his. She also caught Octavius' scent and headed off down the hall to the camping closet, and then she followed the path they took through the house to get outside.

"I would be very happy to have you around Octavius, I think it'd be nice. Now git and don't make me say it again," Gaelan chuckled and Jason patted Octavius' shoulder before heading out of the garden.

"Jason's room," Max had noted as they passed it. He was quiet as he followed Cassie outside. He could guess where they had been headed. Smiling, he caught up and walked next to the wolf.

Octavius smiled, laughing softly as he followed Jay out.

Cassie had her nose almost in the grass as they walked along. She had found a lot of other scents, but none that worried her. She picked her head up as she heard Octavius laughing faintly. She would have taken off running, but figured it'd look bad if she did, so she picked up the pace and trotted off in the right direction to find the two males coming out of the garden.

"He likes you," Jason nudged Octavius with a chuckle before spotting a large black and white canine coming towards them. "Cassie!"

Max chuckled, jogging after her. "Hey! Where did you guys go? I took Cassie to meet my mother. Sorry, it was kind of spur of the moment."

"I think he's really cool as well. He is nice," Octavius replied, smiling when he spotted Cassie too. "Hey! We meet Gaelan. He's nice. And funny. How did your meeting go?"

Cassie shifted into her half form so that if seen it'd be apparent that she was Max's guard. "It went wonderful, I really like her and she seems to like me, but the big thing is that she'll help explain me to Max's dad."

Jason chuckled. "Yeah, we went to the garden to see Gaelan, and before that we set up some mats and such for us to sleep under the stars tonight. Sort of spur of the moment.

"Very nice," Max said, putting an arm around Jay's shoulder. "He is a good man. And sleeping outside is calming. Should we head out?" He asked.

"That is wonderful, Cassie," Octavius said, flashing a grin. "I hope that goes smoothly. And I am ready."

Jason nodded and clapped his cousin on the back gently. "Let's git on the road then!" He chuckled as he mimicked Gaelan's voice, not mocking him though.

"I hope so too," Cassie smiled and nodded her answer. She shifted fully and walked alongside Max.

Max chuckled, reaching to put his hand on Cassie's shoulder. "What do you two plan to do for dinner?" He asked, hoping they could eat with Cassie if he couldn't.

Octavius waited until they were far enough along before brushing his hand against Jason's.

Cassie lifted her head to look up at him, her eyes showing her smile.

Jason smiled and held out his hand to let Octavius set his in if he wanted to. "I don't really know, I didn't make a plan. What are you two going to do?"

Max winked at her, bumping her with her hip. "If father gets home, I am to have dinner with them. If not, I intend to have dinner with Cassie."

Octavius took his hand, looking rather happy to be with him. "Could we have a cookout? Catch something and cook it? Not as fancy as something served at a table but perhaps that'll be okay?"

Cassie stopped, her jaw open wide before she started hopping about planning to hunt something. She shifted halfway so she could speak, her tail wagging making the rest of her wiggle a bit as well. "Octavius, Jason, you guys should totally come to the cabin tonight! I'm going to hunt something and you guys can come have some!" She acted very much like an overgrown puppy.

Jason was about to reply to Octavius when Cassie started jumping about causing him to chuckle. "What do you think Octavius? She's made an enticing offer, no?"

Max exploded in laughter, watching her jump around. He nearly fell over with it. "You can't possibly deny that face. She's just so cute!"

"I say we go for it," Octavius said, grinning. "It'll be fun. Something that has been missing from the other times I've done it. Cassie, can I help you hunt?"

"Of course you can! I'd love an extra set of eyes. Though I suppose I'd have an unfair advantage..." Cassie tapped on her nose. "But still, I'd love it if you came along."

Jason lost it with his cousin and once he got himself under control he replied. "You're quite lucky cousin, though I'm pretty lucky too."

"I have a bit of an advantage too," Octavius chuckled. "I can sense vibrations. So a rabbits den? I can tell you exactly how many are in there. And how close to the surface they are."

"That could really come in handy..." Cassie grinned, her teeth glinting in the sunlight. "Maybe we'll get lucky and spot a deer... I can outrun deer, not in speed, but distance wise."

Jason nodded, a big smile on his face as he listened to them. "Can you two talk about this on the way up? There'll also be plenty of time to talk once we're up there, but I don't want to miss out on the sun warmed berries, and I don't think you will either."

Max slid his hand into Cassie's, leading the way for the group. "Sun warmed berries...I can almost taste them...oh, man!"

"Yes," Octavius chuckled, following the group. "I can outrun, but with air. I tend to use a stone through the heart or skull when hunting. It seems to be the easiest, least painful method. Suffocation or drowning is too long."

Cassie's huge furry hand easily enveloped Max's, and she chuckled as she followed along beside him. "Perhaps I catch it and you put it down? Your way is cleaner than mine as well. I usually just crush the throat or snap the neck if I can..."

Jason didn't really like killing, but knew it had to be done. As long as it was humane and swift.

"Being humane is always a good thing. No reason to need to be cruel," Max agreed. "It's all around better for everyone."

Octavius nodded, remembering a few of his ghosts. Shivering, he mentally pulled himself away from the thoughts.

"Exactly. I have no desire to be cruel, so yes, I would like it if you'd come hunt with me Octavius." Cassie gently squeezed Max's hand, her fur very soft on her palm.

"You okay?" Jason asked softly having noticed the shiver.

Max leaned in to kiss her cheek. "I do not think you would ever be carelessly cruel. Take vengeance, get justice, yes. But not cruel," he told her, glancing over at Octavius when he heard his cousin's concern.

"I'm okay...just...memories. I am a guard. I am a gladiator. Sometimes I have been entertainment. They want a show, they want needless cruelty...so that is what I did. I am not there anymore. I am in a better place, with better people," Octavius explained. Taking a breath, he focused on Jay. "It takes adjusting. I still expect someone to jump out and tell me I was set up."
