Cassie followed his lead on the posture and held her arms out and bent her knees a bit. "Yes, please," She chuckled as she waited for the reassuring hold from Max before she moved to have her toes hanging of the edge.

"I'm so glad!!" Jason laughed as he began to move the board a bit more getting some sway into it.

Max was a firm, steady base, his hands clamped on he hips to hold her still so that she could hang there. "It's amazing, isn't it?" he asked, meaning the power of the ocean. "I have to confess, it's kind of addicting. If I could, I'd hang out here with Jay all of the time."

Octavius grinned, yelling his excitement at the move. "Keep doing that! Please! It's exciting!"

"It's very amazing... I wouldn't know much about addicting since this is the first time I've been to the sea, but I think I can understand a bit of it." Cassie said as she inhaled the salty air deeply.

Jason did as asked, very pleased to hear the happiness in Octavius' voice. "Do you feel how I'm doing it? That way you can do it for yourself!" He wasn't being rude, just trying to teach him.

"Glad you're enjoying it too. Whenever you want to come here, feel free," Max told her, gazing out at the beach over her shoulder.

"I think I can! If I freeze the water or get it into a tighter current then the wave itself, I should be able to surf on my own," Octavius explained.

"Thank you," Cassie would have hugged him had they not been on the board. She looked down into the water below them seeing some silver flash on the scales of small fish.

"I meant you could take a turn on my board, but maybe if you did that maybe we could surf together?" Jason asked.

"You're welcome," Max replied, realizing then that he was falling for her. When had that happened? He couldn't keep it up, surely. Not when he couldn't marry for love. But he couldn't not keep falling. He was going to somehow get them hurt. He could not and would not hurt Cassie that way.

"That was my thought too. Together but able to explore the wave still," Octavius agreed.

Cassie would love to come back, but she knew she wouldn't want to come back without Max with her. He said he couldn't marry for love, so anything along those lines was off the table. She'd made a deal, and that's what she would continue to do. If she could make him happy along the way, she would.

"If you'd like to do that go for it!" Jason chuckled.

Watching her in his arms, Max's heart broke. He didn't want anyone else. Did her kind marry? Or just mate? The bound sounded deeper then marriage, life long mates. If he never married and stayed with Cassie...they could be together, right? Well, now he was really getting ahead. She had to feel the same about him before they went forward. He...he would let her know how he felt. About this growing affection.

Octavius leaned in, pressing his chest to Jason as he hugged him. Then he stepped back and to the side. A surf board made of water appeared under his foot. But having never practiced this, and definitely overconfident, Octavius felt it slip beneath him and he wiped out in a tangle of limbs and red hair. The wave crashed over and around him before he surfaced, roaring with laughter. Reaching up, he slicked back his hair before attempting to make himself a new board.

"As much fun as that was, I think I'm gonna swim for a bit." Cassie chuckled and smiled back at him over her shoulder. She caught a hint of his expression and tilted her head. "Are you oka-" She tried to turn around to face him completely forgetting she was on a board, and ended up overboard. When she broke the surface she was laughing. She smiled up at him and finished her question, the water not doing anything to her crazy hair.

With the sudden change in distribution of weight Jason fell off as well. He climbed back up onto his board with a bit of difficulty as he was shaking with laughter.

Max tumbled after her as the balance of the board was thrown off. He surfaced, spitting out water before looking for her. Smiling, he cast an eye for his cousin and Octavius and noticed they were floating in the water too. "Guess we all got tossed in," he called, loud enough for them to hear him. "Perhaps some lunch or a swim are in order?"

Octavius swam over to Jay, checking to see if he was okay. "I didn't think it would do that! It was kind of fun. You okay?"

Cassie looked over at the other two waiting for a response. She wasn't all that hungry, but she didn't want to be the odd one out and miss out on the other.

"Oh I'm alright, just wet," Jason chuckled and looked over to his cousin. "How about lunch then swim?" He called out in response before turning to Octavius. "Sound good?"

Max made his way over to Cassie, his hands brushing over her hips as he drew her closer. When Octavius nodded, Max smiled. "We packed food that would last," he said, guessing she was full from breakfast. She seemed like she'd eaten as much as her stomach would allow. Not a huge amount, but it would probably keep her stomach full until she digested it or expended a ton of energy.

"Swimming sounds good. Once, on that ship, the Captain dropped something over the side. I was sent to retrieve the treasure. I can manipulate the air, the oxygen in the water, so that if you wanted to, we could explore the sandy bottom. All of us, or just you and me," Octavius offered, blushing slightly at the last part.

Cassie made a small sound of surprise as Max's hands found her hips. She had been looking at the other two and hadn't noticed his approach, where was her personal awareness? She smiled up at him as she realized he knew she wasn't hungry. It was still on the beach where she left it. That's where her awareness was. "Want me to run your board in? Or rather swim it in? That way it won't float away while we swim." She knew his father wanted him to marry for business, but somewhere inside her she silently hoped he wouldn't.

"You can do that?! You can do that!" Jason grinned and nodded. "I've never seen the bottom way out here," He glanced over to his cousin and chuckled. "I think they're having fun themselves, so why don't we?" He slid himself off the board getting ready to bring it in. "Let me just get this to the shore then we can head down," It didn't even occur to him that Octavius could simply send it in on a wave.

"I can get that if you want to just float here a bit," Max shrugged, looking at the board. He found that now he had his hands on her hips, he didn't want to let go. He feared she'd disappear. That he'd loose her. Taking a shaky breath, he smiled. "I don't know if I can let go...I don't want to...tell me I don't have to," Max murmured, knowing his words applied to this situation while he meant something so much more.

Octavius chuckled, nodding. "Yeah. But you have to let me know if the air seems to get stale. I've sucked out all the nutrients sometimes and swallowing half the ocean, lake, or body of water I'm in is not fun. No one goes in after the slave...even if he is valuable. thankfully, I've made it up in time. And I've got this," he said, sending the board through the water and high up onto the beach. He paused, noticing Max and Cassie wrapped up in each other. Another wave sent their board in, landing right next to Jason's board.

Cassie chuckled softly. "Don't worry, I won't drown," She spotted the board being taken in by a wave. Octavius. She'd thank him later for that. "You don't have to let go... If you don't want to..." She had a feeling that he said that with a bit more meaning than the words themselves. "Max, are you okay?" She wasn't really sure if he was. Sure it sounded like he loved her, but that couldn't be the case. A rich kid like him love an ex-slave like her? They weren't even the same species. And then there was his father who wanted him to marry for money. No, she'd play stupid and not get her heart broken. Unless he said something she would play stupid.

"Thank you Octavius," Jason smiled as he watched the boards be sent in. "I'll let you know, but I think we'll be okay. Perhaps instead of one long trip down there we could take a few shorter ones? That way if you get tired we can take a break safer," He genuinely cared about Octavius' well being. "You're not a slave anymore, and you most definitely are valuable, not just for your powers either."

Max watched her a bit longer before shaking his head. "No I'm not okay...and I don't know how to fix it. Too many people are at risk. Ones I care about and want to protect," he sighed, debating if he should tell her. Maybe not here. He would let her have this happy trip and tell her later. Back in the cabin or on the grounds. "But now I am getting all moody aren't I? Let's swim."

"That sounds like a good idea to me. And I know I am here. You and I are friends and you look out for me like no one else has...I really like that. Short bursts of exploring it is," he said, offering Jay his hand.

Cassie tilted her head then shook it as she was going to reply but he added the next comment. "I want to know what's making you upset though, tell me about this later okay? I want to try and help." Cassie moved closer and gently embraced him.

Jason happily took Octavius' hand, his grin ever present. "I plan to continue to look out for you, for as long as I am able." He chuckled obviously very excited to be going to explore the bottom of the ocean.

"I promise I will. Hopefully we can figure something out," Max agreed, hugging her to him tightly. Yeah, he had fallen for her. This felt good. She felt right in his arms. Better then anything he had held before.

Octavius wove a ball of air around their heads, making a sort of helmet. Using water, he kept a tight, fast flowing current around the edge of the air pockets to keep air in and water out. Then he dove, bringing Jason with him.

"Hopefully. Now let's swim," Cassie smiled and let go of the hug to swim around him.

Jason was in awe. This was amazing. He was going to hug Octavius again when they surfaced.

Max laughed. Reaching for her, he brushed a hand over her shoulder. "Tag," he smirked, then scrambled to dive away.

Octavius watched him before spotting a few tide pools. The tide was in, but they were still cool to look at. Swimming towards them, he motioned Jay over.
