Cassie barked and yipped as she leapt across the sand, and as her feet hit the water she howled in joy! This was so much fun! The sun on her fur, the sand under her paws! Oh this had to be heaven! She turned to see Max chasing after her so she charged back at him and around to run beside him, her shoulders coming up past his hips.

"Well, that's sort of what I do with my board when I surf, except I don't control it, but that's the fun part." Jason chuckled and patted his back before taking his shoes off and grabbing his board headed for the water.

Max grinned, hands running over her fur. He was as happy if not happier then she was. Though, he doubted he could feel happier. "Having fun?" He asked, laughing .

Octavius joined him, pulling off everything but his pants. He was going to make the most of this. Hurrying after Jason, he studied the board curiously.

Cassie huffed and panted as she leaned into the petting and the look in her eyes was more than enough of an answer. Her tail wagged fiercely and she sniffed at his board before she shifted into her human shape crouching next to it. "What are you gonna do with that?"

Jason started wading into the water before setting the board down and laying on it paddling further out past the waves. "Do you want to try your own water skill before coming with me?"

Max smirked, pointing to Jason. "Same as him. The waves will carry us in. We are going to stand on them. But first, I need to lose these," he said, tugging off his shirt. He was muscled under there. Defined and very nice to look at, if he did say so himself. His pants were taken off next, revealing swim trunks. "Wanna come with?"

"I think I might like to come with you first. Get the feel of it from you, if that's okay," Octavius asked, making his way closer to Jason and his board,

Cassie blushed but didn't have the state of mind to move her gaze, so she ended up staring a bit. "I can?" She stood up excitedly and began doing as Max had done, and under her shirt was a bathing suit-like bra, and the same sort of thing was on her lower half. Perhaps Vera knew that they were going to do this today? Beneath her shirt were many marks. Some natural and showed tales of hunts gone wrong, and various other incidents, and others were not as natural. Such as the dark ring around her neck showing where that collar had been for years. Beneath the scars was a well toned body, not bulky, near perfectly proportionate for her.

Jason had put on clothes that he knew would be fine to get wet. He tended to burn easily, so he tried to not over expose himself. He nodded and sat up on the board scooting forwards a bit, like they'd been on the horse. "That's okay with me," He offered him a hand to help him up. "First we gotta get out a bit further first, then comes the fun part."

Max slid his board into the water, holding it. "Go ahead and get on. I'll hold it steady for you," he offered. His gaze traveled over her and he paused. "...Cassie? Your pups...what happened?" He asked, holding out a hand to her.

Octavius climbed on, wrapping his arms around his waist. "Should I help paddle?" He asked, his chest bumping into Jay's back as tbe waves moved them.

Cassie had taken his hand and was about to climb on as she heard the question that made her pause. She took a breath and sighed. "I knew you'd ask that sooner or later..." Her gaze was no longer on him, but was instead at the water between them. "They only found out after I started getting big... Only a month or so into it... They took these, these thin swords..." She moved her hand over her belly where many small freckle-like dots were spaced out around her stomach. "And they stabbed me, again and again, until they were satisfied that they were dead..." A tear slipped out and fell down her cheek to join the water below. "They used the collar to keep me from fighting back too much, for if they hadn't..." Her nose and lips twitched and pulled back into a snarl, and she looked up and locked eyes with him, the feral glare in them spoke of her uncompleted actions.

Jason smiled happy that Octavius was comfortable with him, enough that he'd hold on without being told. "That's up to you," He chuckled as he leaned forwards to paddle them out over the waves.

Max's expression had turned dark and hateful. "...if I had known...gods, if I had just known!" He growled, his hand squeezing hers lightly. "I would have personally held then down for you to tear out their throats. I could have...Cassie, I am so sorry. I wish I had gotten, a report on you...I would have saved you. This...damn them to the darkest, deepest corner of hell," he snarled, hugging her loosely. "I did something to my mom when I was born. I tore something...she had miscarriages after. I know how devastating that can be. But that? That was murder. And I am going to hold those men down while you get the chance to tear into them, slow and painfully. Please, let me keep giving you happy memories, to help heal from some of the pain with good things."

Octavius leaned in, his chest hitting Jay's back as he helped paddle. "I would like to help. We are a team here."

Cassie stood for a moment before lifting her arms to hug him back. "That pain will never be truly healed, just as my scars will never really go away, but the pain will be dealt back and that will make the pain easier to live with." She took a breath to ease herself and she let it out along with the anger she had built up in those moments. "Yes, let's make a few happy memories today and for now move away from the darkness of our past." Her smile was soft and sincere, though the trail from the tear was still there.

"Then you can help! I won't tell you what to do as much as I can." Jason chuckled gently elbowing him playfully.

Max pulled back, then cupped her cheek and wiped away the tears with his thumb. "Sadly, that pain will be there. But hopefully the happiness that went along with them can overpower it one day. I so wish I could give you back your mate and pups...if I could, I would in a heartbeat.for now, just hold on and live in the moment," Max said, hoping on behind her, kneeling on the board so he could steer and paddle them out.

Octavius stuck out his tongue at Jay. "I meant right now...goof," he added, surprised with himself but happy. Grinning, he poked Jay's side. "One day, I am going to get you back. One day, I will be less formal and more comfortable. For today, I am letting go and having fun with my friends. Now, can we kick Max's butt out to the big waves? I believe he said the last one out was a rotten egg."

"Hopefully." Cassie smiled and leaned forwards to hold onto the board. "You're right, you can't give them back, but you have given me a new life, and the chance to help save the lives of others like me. Other slaves." She whispered as she trailed a finger in the water before trying to help him paddle.

Jason laughed at the poke and nodded. "Alright, alright," He glanced over at Max and Cassie then nodded again. "He did say that," He grinned and began paddling stronger and faster.

Max alternated his strokes, pulling them through the water with relative ease. Glancing up, he spotted the other two and waved. "You would have done it on your own. I just helped tip the scales in your favor. I would say slave owners need to be enslaved. But where would it end? It wouldn't."

Octavius kept paddling, determined to win fairly by man power.

"Eventually... Maybe... I would say slave owners just need to be killed, but then that's just me being a primitive beast." Cassie chuckled seeing the other two and she started helping more keeping stroke with Max.

Jason kept going, but seeing as they had had a bit of a headstart it was obvious they'd win.

"No, not primitive. But perhaps majestic. And as a survivor of them, I say you definitely have good reason to feel that way. What do you think? Can we catch them?" Max asked, a smile in his voice and on his face.

"Should we turn this so we can catch the wave?" Octavius asked, fully prepared to manipulate the water should they need it.

Cassie shook her head. "Probably not, but I don't mind being an egg, even if it is stinky." She giggled as she kept paddling.

"We can try for it," Jason used a few strong strokes to get them turned before he stood up carefully and offered Octavius a hand.

Max laughed, the sound rumbling through him. "Good. I will share that fate." Paddling harder, he hoped to catch the wave with the other two.

Octavius took it, standing while managing to keep his footing. "If need be, I can get it bigger."

Cassie smiled and shivered as the laugh moved through her. Cassie kept paddling until he told her to stop.

Jason nodded. "I think for a first we'll start small, okay? Just keep your center of balance low and follow my lead on the leaning." As the wave picked them up he maneuvered the board so they began to surf down it.

"It's coming close...I'm going to turn us. Keep paddling. When I say stand, stand. I'll keep you upright and we'll manage to catch it," Max told Cassie as he watched the wave approach.


Octavius nodded, doing as Jay said. "That sounds like a good plan. I'm ready!"

"Alright," Cassie kept paddling as he told her to waiting for him to give the word to stand. When he did she stood up keeping her balance.

"You're doing great!" Jason laughed as they moved along the wave smoothly.

Max gave a hoot of excitement, his arms held out and his knees bent. "Doing great! May I hold your waist? You can hang your toes off the front!"

Octavius grinned, the wind whipping his long red hair behind him like a sail. "I love this!"
