"Elias. You've already said that." Was she just destined to be
denied information for her entire life? If anyone could get
information out of someone, it was supposed to be her. She
activated her charisma counter. "What do you
remember?"
Alaire wasn't a geographical genius, but she had never heard of the
country of Alderthorn. Was Elias mad, mistaken, or from another
dimension?
"Tell me about Alderthorn and Ulster, Captain. What happened to
royal family? And her highness, princess, er, Vivian." Alaire had
no idea what she was doing. She was forging new roads.
And now her move was slience, waiting for Elias to elaborate. She
teasingly instructed [Fleet-footed Messenger] to take notes. Alaire
sank back, pulling her knees to her chest, sitting on dirty ground.
She stood, her staff against Miyasaki's windpipe in an instant.
Alaire was frustrated with how long it was taking. "Your turn,
darling. Fill in the blanks from Elias's story for us.
Now."
"While I believe that you don't know the whole story, you know
enough." She hissed, adding more pressure to her grip on the staff.
"Tell me what you know. Everything. As many details as possible. In
as direct terms as possible. Now."
She released him, dropping her hands to her sides. "What does the
[Knight of Annihilation] do in the other timelines? Why has
everyone told me... to run away?"
"But... why? Why does it happen? That's what nobody can tell me..."
Alaire hung her head, looking dejected. It was another strategy
move, it was another act of deliberate manipulation. Because in
that moment, Alaire recognized how she could become that person
Miyasaki described her as.
"..." Now she was angry. "I understand why you might be cynical
after hundreds of lifetimes, the same patterns repeating themself
over and over again. But you owe it to us to keep an open mind. I-
I'm not the same girl you've met a hundred times. Things change,
people can evolve."
