"I am, technically speaking, a demi god. My mother, well, biological I must add, is the goddess of the stars and earth from where I come from. But... well, she is a hypocrite, to be honest. Loves everyone and cares for everyone but she picks favorites every time and ignores the rest. So, in the sea of adopted children and recruited units, the fact that she ignores her actual daughter the least is... not good, not good at all. Coupled with her main character syndrome, constant secrecy for the most important of details and pretentious attitude, I long for my mother back in Rome. And then she does things like stabbing herself just because she was proven incorrect. I hate sounding cliché but the one about gods always being [REDACTED]? Yeah, she fits the bill and leaves a tip." A short pause. She needed to calm down a bit, so she went to flip some fishes again.
"The cooking you see here, right?" She holds a piece of hot and seared fish in front of Captain Jack. "That goddess never appreciated. Barely ate. Same with her favorites. But I enjoy it. And the fact that you're fond of it... kind of warms my heart."

Jack sighed, reflecting on parents and other philosophical family figures.
"I never had any parents. Most of the crew doesn't have any either, and those that do would rather forget them. We were a children's ship... started young and sailed together awhile. You'll find no love lost for authority here. You're in great company now!" She had a knack for seeing the positive in things. Jack wanted her ship to be a happy one.

The Captain straightened her hat, fluffing the white feather that stuck straight into the air. Moon could handle the upper deck, right? She could totally stay in the kitchen longer.
Somewhere abovedecks, a golden-haired navigator rolled her eyes. Her Captain was an absolute child.

"You're too sweet, capitano. I'm just enjoying my craft after being outshined by peanut butter and jelly sandwiches by a goddess. They weren't even cut right." She laughs a bit and points behind Jack. "Mind handing me the spice behind you real quick?"

To stave off the look of incredulity most newcomers gave her at that pronouncement, she added her little justification. "We are, well were, a crew of children. We have to be fluent in the rumors of the child-eaters."
There was an entire conspiracy map in her quarters, containing and not limited to markings about the islands of children eaters. Nevermind scrawls depicting the rumors of mythical beast sightings from Q, wind and current diagrams in Moon's steady hand, and scores of childish insults surrounding the island of Ghar Bagihra she had written a year ago. That map was one of the best and most thorough of greater Skysaeia. It was also the cause of more than a few of their problems...

"Sorry, sorry. No no, this..." She sprinkles the spice over the pans without a care if something missed. "Is just for ordinary food."

"Want to lend a hand instead of standing around ogling at the world? I have a spare spyglass... at the very least, you could keep an eye out for our destination." She shifted her weight from one foot to the other, unsure how the girl would respond. But Jack had said that she was part of the crew, and she would need to do the duties of the crew. Besides, Moon was in charge of the crew right now, since Jack was skulking around the kitchen.

"Past, present, future. It's all relative, Iteral, dear. How old do you feel? That's the real question. I myself feel six at times, but twenty-six works just as well."
She smiled, watching her new chef cook. Jack would need to check up on her other recent aquisition, but for now, Moon was likely handling it just fine. This was going to be very fun, watching her dear crewmates deal with them...

Lydia kinda just bounced around.
"I'd love to help! Never used a spyglass before, but you can always learn, right?"
wickedness?

weakness?

"Alrighty, how do you do it? Everyone get down here with a plate or do I take everything and serve?"

She stepped closer to Lydia, and handed her the spyglass tucked in her pocket.
"Hold it like... this." She put her hands on Lydia's and showed the girl how to position the spyglass.
"This knob will increase the magnification," she said, their fingers brushing the larger ridged cylinder, "And this knob will alter the focus. Use it to make the image clearer." She guided Lydia's hand to the smaller cylinder.
"It's fairly intuitive. You'll get it." She stood there for a second longer, gazing out to the horizon.
And then just as quickly, the moment had passed, and Moon stepped back quickly, almost as if she had been burned. She looked starboard, her eyes avoiding Lydia.
"I-I'll leave you to it, then." She shook her head as if to clear it, and then was off, sweepibg of to the upper deck.

"Twenty-one, that's a good age..." Jack trailed off. "What were you saying? Oh, just put together platters of food. They'll go up the dumbwaiter, and the crew'll grab'em up above. Everyone just makes plates for themselves."
Jack grinned, adjusting her hat again. "Need a taste tester before sending anything up?~"

Magic defied the laws of physics. She knew that. All the earthen teachings she had known were relative. Earthen teachings. Genghis Khan. Did Lydia come from... Earth?
