[Ended] Ōmagatoki
Forum-Index → Roleplay → [Ended] ŌmagatokiShe continued to look around, gaze sharp. One could almost forget that there were murderous spirits in their midst. She was approaching what the suspicious voice had described as the Ruins of the Kami-no-Tokoyo's Tower.
Approaching cautiously, Paiyoon wondered if it would be disrespectful to try to climb to the top.

how long had it been since he'd felt the sunlight on his skin?
...
far too long.
It had been far too long since he'd had a leisurely stroll.
He hadn't had a casual walk since her death.
he didn't really see the point.
...
The kami-no-tokyo's tower.
Quite an interesting piece of architecture.
he ran his gloved hands over teh stones of the tower.
She would have loved this place.
That thought hurt.
There had been so much that he had seen in this cruel world that she would have loved.
It made his cold, dead soul ache.
wickedness?
Or is it
weakness?
You decide.
She blinked once, and then attempted to regain her wits about her. Other dimensions, murders, evil people. Right. Focus.
"Nice day for a stroll. Artemis, is it?"

His answer was curt, as he traced the outline of the stone that made up the tower. He pushed his glasses up, slightly, brushing a lock of his cyan-colored hair out of his eyes.
"... It's beautiful, here. She would have loved this place."
wickedness?
Or is it
weakness?
You decide.
"She? Who are you speaking of?" Her mind caught up to her mouth suddenly. "I'm sorry, you don't need to answer that. It was rather presumptuous of me to ask, especially since for all you know, I am your enemy."

Paiyoon smiled briefly. Yao had been a ray of sunshine in her life.

The tower still looked in front of them, the intricate stonework on the rubble glinting in the sun.

The Ruins of the Kami-no-Tokoyo's Tower
The ruins of a divine tower that once reached above the clouds, until the erosion of timeless millennia and the descent into obscurity caused its destruction.
Few remember the tower's existence in the present.
Piles upon piles of bone-dry, crumbling rocks surrounded the base of the ruined tower. The oppressive dust had settled long ago, yet it remains a holy site for those who take time to recollect.
Talismans were scattered all across the tower ruins- some neatly stacked in piles, others strewn all over the floor. Any divine yōkai-sealing power they once had would have dissipated over such a long time.
Crushed stone lanterns and shattered ancient komainu statues that were thought to ward off evil, just like real komainu, dotted the overgrown grass around the tower. Collapsed pillars that were once colored a bright red blocked off most of the openings, but thankfully not the tower entrance.
Inside the tower, one could find all sorts of divine objects and statuettes. As with the talismans, eons have drained away their powers, rendering them almost completely useless.
A tightly-shut trapdoor, covered by some ancient bricks, was situated in the corner. No mortal key would open its lock- a kami's power was required to open it.
She stepped closer to the tower. Paiyoon picked through the rubble, glancing at the talismans strewn about. She bent down, and lifted an old stone lanturn into her hands. It was intricately carved with a recurring dragon motif curled around the edges.
"This looks interesting." A pause. "Do you think there's anything useful in these ruins? Something to point to the identity of the voice?"

Paiyoon continued examining the lantern. She traced the patterns with her finger, feeling the ridges and grooves. She closed her eyes briefly, the onset of a headache a familiar specter.
"Seriously, anything at all..."

She sat down on the warm earth, crossing her legs beneath her. Paiyoon grabbed a small amulet from amidst the stones, and began an in depth analysis of it.

"Hey, you, edgy b*****d, the hell you doin sittin' there like a gah damn idiot for, huh?"
Idris scowled. How dare...how dare this pathetic excuse for human life dare to even utter a single word at him? She obviously wasn't worth his time, and he didn't want to waste any breath on her, but the garbage the rat spewed out of her dirty muzzle needed to be acknowledged, otherwise she might continue.
"Ooooooh, I get it! I'm the first unfortunate soul who had the displeasure of thinking you're worth talking to, I see, I see! Must be a shame, isn't it? Or are you such a sad, lonely, pathetic welp that you didn't even wanna be talked to in the first place, hm? Oh, then I do apologize, I am so sorry to ruin your little pity party!"
He groaned. Of course she continued, saying random trivial things that he didn't care about. Yet her words hurt slightly more than he'd care to stay.
Idris' fists clenched. Should he throw the first punch?
His stomach clenched at the thought of coming into contact with her dirty skin.
Idris shuddered slightly.
He glared at the girl with black eyes full of spite.
