She returned his cold smile with an equally matched one of her own.
"Likewise. We shall see your faith be trodden upon, just as the ant
is taken beneath the heel of the man."
Her pulse was pounding in her ears. She grit her teeth and bore
through it, fighting the urge to tear that smug look off his
face.
Everything about this was off. Something didn't add up. The spirit,
the meeting, the stranger- what was she failing to put together?
What purpose could any of this serve?

Something in Isla snapped. In a moment, she was on her feet,
swirling portal in hand, pointing at Kendo. Two portals were open
behind him- the ghosts wrapped their transluscent tendrils about
his head, flickering with lightning and blue fire.
It wasn't Kendo there, any longer.
It was Adrik.
"You thought you could escape," she hissed. "There is no
escaping from Snavia. There is no escaping from me-" She
clenched her fist.

Legion frowned lightly and pulled the leash attached to the collar
Aret wore, calling upon her to settle the dispute. She was quick to
act, stepping between Kendo and Isla and spreading her wings as a
warning- though, if her face were visible, it would be obvious that
she regretted every action she performed for Legion. "I'd suggest
you calm down so we can continue the meeting. Pay him no mind, he's
simply my leverage for the goddess. Continue with your report."

Isla gritted her teeth. He started it, the petulant child in
her argued. But the soldier inside knew how to follow orders. So
she dipped her head and took her seat once more.
"My apologies, Legion. I should not have let a prisoner of war
cloud my judgement- I will hold my temper."

Isla restrained herself, keeping her glare on Kendo's shoulder.
One day, she vowed. I will kill you. I swear it.
Adrik Volkov
On the other side of Macedon, Adrik sneezed. For some reason, he
felt as though something of his was being stolen. Something very
relevant his roleplayer totally didn't forget until just this
moment.
He pondered it for a second, and then turned a corner and fell into
a convenient portal that put him someplace where he could interact
with people.

Aret looked down at Isla, almost apologetically. She didn't dare
say anything, lest she was beaten again- she was already struggling
to hide those bruises and scars and burn marks. Legion laughed
lightly. "Just don't make your temper a distraction for everyone,
but other than that, you're perfectly fine." He seemed so kind to
her. Charismatic. It's a front he always put on.

If you can read my thoughts, please do something about that
horrible thing you call a face. It is a blotch on an utterly
peaceful scene, and frankly a public eyesore.
She turned to face Legion. "What is the purpose of this meeting?"
she questioned. "Kendo" had thrown her off balance. It was time to
regain control of this situation. "The war effort is going well. We
should have absolute control within weeks."
He must want something- some new propaganda effort, most likely.
A picture of all of us, sent all around Legion- a united front,
crushing the rebellion.

"I want to talk about our plan, and the upcoming final battle." He
beckoned the Saint Dirty back to his side, though, when she got
close enough, he pulled her down to sit in his lap and forced her
to face the other captains, even though her face was obscured by
her light. "Specifically regarding this one here. The tests have
all been run by Selene, and have been given the confirmation to
execute my ultimate goal. I want the hopeless, naive, selfless
goddess to disappear for good, and a valiant, powerful warrior
under my command to be born in her place." She struggled against
the grip he had on her face and arm, forcing her to be still
despite her efforts.

Isla only raised an eyebrow, although internally, her heart gave a
lurch. "Is that even possible? Her whole existence is founded upon
those old Macedonian ideals- if that dies, can her form remain
on?"
If you can drown the personification of innocence in blood-
who's to say this world will be where you stop?

"It's quite easy, dear. Rewrite the workings of one's own brain,
and you can alter whatever it is your heart desires." Tears fell
from Aret's cheeks, though she still remained silent. She would
rather die than turn against her own land.
"With my technology, I'll be able to melt her, essentially, down to
a cellular level, and rebuild her as I see fit. Perfect without any
flaws. Imagine it like this- you exist, and then your cells are
liquefied and put into another vessel." Selene explained.

Isla couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. All she could do was stare at
Legion and listen to him speak atrocities- violations against the
laws of nature themself.
She finally found the courage to speak. "Yes... absolutely
marvelous, Kendo. I should never have doubted Legion's
capabilities."

"But, science was made to better the world, not commit atrocities
against it. Do you understand what you're doing, Legion? You're
destroying the natural order, the law of nature that has existed
since the beginning of time."
Kendo stood up. For once, he was standing at his full 6'9
height.
