"What are they based on? Is it grades? Talent? Some sort of test or
tournament?" Ivy spied something on one of the books closest to
her. She grabbed a post-it note from a nearby shelf.
I know you too well, short nerd~
"You guys are absolutely hopeless... When do first years get ranks?
And what is your advice for absolutely destroying my competition~ I
mean, getting a good rank?" Every word in that sentence had been
chosen delicately. Ivy could see that they were both intelligent in
their own ways.
"I'm sorry~ not really but random sticky notes are my
forte!" she said, laughing at the two of them. "When is the
tournament?" Ivy thought that it sounded interesting...
"And who is the King for your year right now? I'm sorry if I have
too many questions... but you know how the acceptance letter is.
Doesn't even tell you what spell books to bring!" While she was
talking, she had burned the sticky note in her palm. She raised her
hand, and blew ash into the air. It floated to the ground slowly.
"Ah... The king. That guy's the president of the Student Council.
He's a Dark Mage with Some powerful disruption and control spells."
kendo grinned. "Can't tell you any more tho, You'll have to figure
it out on your own~ And the Tournament starts like, tomorrow.
Better prepare"
Ivy allowed herself an evil grin. If upper years competed in the
tournament, then tomorrow, she would really have fun. Her face
fell abruptly when she realized how terrifying her expression must
look to outsiders. She recovered gracefully.
"So," she started. "Other than studying and... whatever you're
doing (flirting)... what is there to do in this place? And
when do classes start?"
She took another sticky note off the shelf, smirking. Theo was
lucky he hadn't read this one; that permanent blush on his face
would never go away if he did. She held it out to Kendo and raised
her eyebrows, as if daring him to read it aloud.
Kendo grinned right back. "Ah, you saw that one." He took the note,
folded it neatly into a tiny square and slipped it into his pocket.
"Anyways, You seem to be quite confident. I wonder if you could
beat me..."
"I'd love to try!" There was a challenge is his eyes. Ivy did not
back down from a challenge.
She turned her attention to the newcomer. "Hiii! I'm Ivy~" she was
back to the innocent routine. Ten bucks these two won't buy
it...
Ivy looked at the boy in front of her. He seemed a little clueless,
but nice enough. Maybe it was an act, but she doubted it. He was
powerful enough if he could teleport with accuracy she had
mastered it in the forest a few years ago Don't think about
that! Anyway, the boy. A second year perhaps?
"You too Sobble! I guess we'll be competing against each other in
the tournament tomorrow then? I'd like to do well!"
She turned her attention back to Kendo. Was he baiting her? She
decided on a neutral response. After all, maybe he was talking to
Sobble. "Who me~?" she said. "I've lived in Nexus for a few years
now, so it might be possible we've crossed paths... you said you
worked for the Nexus Guard?"
