A grim smile slowly appeared on her face after what Lucian had said. What a party pooper... At least his warnings gave her so many fun ideas! That look on his face was almost laughable, so edgy and mysterious... Heyyy, only SHE was allowed to be like that!

"Hehe, looking forward to it!"

Mei giggled a little before turning on her heel and giving a small wave with her fingers. "Byeeee!"

Ugh... She was glad to get out of there, she sensed an edgy flashback or at least something weird coming from that stupid therapist. She knew his threats were hollow, and that head of his even more so. Geez... Why did everyone here think they were living in some kind of fantasy? They were either extremely childish and oblivious, or going through an edgy anime moment...

Mei walked away, swaying in between each step she took, all the way to the nurse's office. Maybe she could find something interesting there, and maybe some parts to make a bomb! She knew how to make a simple one, one that she used to use in the school's bathrooms or something, right? She didn't need that guy to help with all this! It would've been a pain to get him on her side anyways, she could tell that engineer didn't like her.

Saeko Katsumi.

"Howdy!" Saeko exclaimed, stepping in front of Mei.

"Sorry, not sorry, for suddenly scaring you, m'lady." They chuckled. "It's gettin' a 'lil quiet 'round here...too quiet for my liking. So I thought I'd come annoy any Ultimate who crosses my threshold, aaaand, that lucky fella was you!"

Saeko spoke quickly, their accent mixing with a high-pitched tone was the equivalent of nails on a chalkboard to any poor Ultimate who had to endure the constant noise that leaked out of Saeko's mouth.

"So? Whatcha here for? Murder? Ooooh, could I murder with you!!" They grinned.

"Ohhh, come on, please? It's too boringgggg, ugh. Also, you're kinda cute, so that would be a plus~" Saeko exclaimed.

"Think about it, 'kay? It's a good idea, trust me, sweetie."

Saeko paused.

"Oh darn it- how could I forget? 'Name's Saeko Katsumi, Ultimate Musician. Don't forget it! Not like you would~" They batted their eyelashes.

"I'm just joshin' with ya. But seriously. Don't forget it."

I don't trust her. I don't trust her at all... Lucian narrowed his eyes, and then unnarrowed them with a sigh. One thing was for sure, he had to be careful. Someone might die. He had to prevent that from happening...

Slowly and quietly, he headed off to the library.

Sawyer Laurens's POV

Oh, it's the friends from earlier! "Hiii, Mei! Hey, Saeko! Nice to see you!" They waved.
"You sure know a lot of people," Darcy half-muttered. "I see you haven't changed."
"Not at all!" Sawyer chirped. "...aaand neither have you."
Darcy laughed. "Sooo, hi! You're Saeko and Mei, I heard? Who is who?" Darcy raised her eyebrows.

Darcy Harper's POV

Oh, boy. Why, oh, why, are we stuck in the same room together? Sawyer, please leave.
But unfortunately, that probably wouldn't happen...

That... Was a lot to take in. Mei stopped in her tracks as soon as the musician stepped in front of her, the grin on her face fading away as she stood almost motionless.

"Uh huh..." She said, obviously not enthusiastic about this. Mei crossed her arms and leaned her head to the side, listening to what Saeko had to say.

"What am I here for...?" Hmm... She could just say murder or whatever like they suggested, but that was boring... Then again, any answer she could think of was pretty boring. "I just wanna have some fun, y'know? If I doooo happen to be a-murderin', guess I can invite you..." She muttered that last sentence, almost like she didn't really care in the first place.

Wait, did they say she was cute? Mei was a little iffy about that, but I guess she was used to it by now. She had... a history with being called cute, among other things. Made her gag just thinking about it... She still didn't make a comment about the "compliment" though.

"Uhhh..." Eh why not, not worth hiding something as simple as her name to someone who was seemingly on the same wavelength as her. That voice though, highly annoying. Was she sure she wanted to be dealing with that for the short time she would most likely be alive? "Mei, Mei Akamatsu..." She was muttering again, but it seemed to be more of a grumble. "Ultimate... Gambler. Yup, that's me..." Maybe the difference in energy would deter them? She wasn't against talking to them, so this was really just a test, but still...

Yup, definitely won't forget it...

Saeko definitely had that band kid energy, but in the weird "quiet kid" way. How odd...

Guess she was close enough to the nurse's office to get the attention of the bomb kid, who was energetically calling her and Saeko's names. There was also an unfamiliar person with him, one that seemed to know Sawyer quite well. They were obviously uncomfortable or something, but whatever. Mei raised her hand slightly, the unamused expression still on her face. "I'm Mei, that's Saeko..." She pointed her thumb towards the other person when she said their name.

Saeko adjusted their beanie quickly. "Yup! I'm Saeko, Ultimate-

ARGH-"

Saeko screamed.

"HOLY...JEEZUS....IDRIS-" They gasped. "You can't do that to a poor gal like me! You scared the ever-living-" Saeko swore.

Idris Kallikrates

Idris smiled.

"Good. Keeps you on your toes, you know?"

Saeko stared at him. "I think that's the only time you'll remotely have a sense of humour, 'Krates."

Idris scowled.

"Introduce me to your friend?"

They looked shocked. "Which alien abducted my 'Krates and replaced him with one who's actually social and has a sense of humour?"

"Shuddup."

"Naw, just joshin' with ya. This is Mei."

"Why so interested? Find her cute?"

...

They swore loudly, clutching their ribs.

"GOSH DARN IT, 'KRATES-...owch."

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian sighed and headed to the library. He took a book from there, a good, medium-sized book. He didn't intend on reading it, however. His chest heaved... this was for the sake of self-defense. Not deadly enough to hurt anyone seriously, but, in case he needed to defend himself, or someone else...

The fretful face of Kaoru flashed in his mind. A grinning Sawyer, rapidly waving their hands. A chirping Saeko and a grumpy Idris. The other two, who he barely knew, and yet... he couldn't let any of these people die. Or anyone else here die.

It'll be okay. Hopefully.

He couldn't be everywhere at once... and unfortunately, unbeknownst to him, although Lucian had a bad feeling...

He wasn't able to halt the tragedy that would occur.

Darcy Harper's POV

"Oh, new people! Hello! Um, nice talent, Saeko," Darcy commented, joking. "Mei and Saeko! Cool to meet you both! And Idris? Sure is crowded in here!" A smile formed upon Darcy's face. "I'm Darcy Harper! The Ultimate Chocolatier! If you'd ever like any chocolate, feel free to ask me for some!"

Idris, if that's his name, sure looks miserable. He could sure use some chocolate!

"If you didn't know, it tastes just like falling in love!"

Sawyer muttered something under their breath, and then stopped. "Hey, Saeko, Idris!! Great to see you two again! How have you been? See anything interesting?"

I'M trying to talk to them, Know-It-All Kid. Darcy's eyes narrowed. Great. Couldn't even stay in the same room for eight seconds...

Ah great... Another weirdo to crowd the space ~~and give her a massive headache...~~

So, his name was Idris? Seemed to be a friend to the person she was just talking to. Geez, how come almost everyone here already had friends, with other Ultimates no less? Made her feel a little left out... Oh whatever, Mei didn't really care much for friends anyways. People were insufferable, annoying, weird. She preferred to keep to herself and do things at her own pace, no one to stop her or tell her that she was crazy. Oh well, at least Idris seemed tolerable. The dynamic the two had was actually kinda funny anyways.

"...Huh?" Was all Mei could say in this situation, a bit unsure of what to do. She stifled a laugh when Idris made that comment, Saeko's reaction was honestly unexpected.

Once Darcy spoke up, Mei's smile turned into a puzzled look. Chocolate? Ooooooh maybe she could kidnap Darcy and force her to make all the chocolate-

Woah, slow down there. Good idea, but hold off on the crazy stuff. Sounds stupid and cliché anyways.

"If you didn't know, it tastes just like falling in love!"

Mei almost recoiled at those words, all her positive thoughts about Darcy immediately vanishing. So she was that kind of person... Ew.

He looked down, then towards Mei.

What was her talent again?

Oh, yeah. Ultimate Gambler.

That's far cooler than Ultimate Linguist-

It suits her, I guess.

Saeko Katsumi.

They groaned. "There's the Idris I know. Insufferable."

Saeko shook their head.

"Nice to meet ya! Chocolate is cool, ignore my buddy, 'Krates. He's just grumpy."

Saeko extended a hand.

Mei seemed uncomfortable about something. She turned to look at Idris. "Oh, that's a shame! What do you like then? That's okay!" She turned to look at Saeko, and shook their hand. "Pleasure to meet you! It definitely is! Would you like me to make you some sometime?"

Don't say anything, Darcy. Don't say anything.

Sawyer Laurens's POV

"Hey, Mei, my good friend, you okay?" Sawyer asked. They frowned. "You look unsettled about something!"
Does it have to do with... her? No surprise there.

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian headed back to his dorm with a sigh. He felt so tired, for some reason. He wasn't even sure what time it was. He wanted to head back and relax for a while...

This was all a little overwhelming. He wasn't sure if it was better or worse than...

"Awwww, you don't like roooomance and looooove? What a shame!" How the hell could someone not like chocolate...?

Wait... She really said that after someone else spoke... This was kinda awkward, but whatever...

Mei went up in front of Idris as she said that little taunt, waving her finger in front of his face rhythmically. To be fair, Mei wasn't really into that stuff either, and she had a weird past with it, but still. It was funny to make fun of people.

"Darcy, you're now my new favorite person, I need to have some of your chocolates~" She gave a large grin in her direction, then looked back over at Idris. Her discomfort in the whole situation with Saeko and whatever Darcy said was highly noticeable before, but she doubted anyone was paying attention. Hmm... She'd have to learn more about these people, they seemed very interesting...

Her train of thought was interrupted by Sawyer, which, unsurprisingly saw her discomfort. "Whaaaat? I dunno what you're talking about, really, I'm not some sort of loser like Idris!" Mei, again, stifled a laugh when she made that remark. It wasn't that funny, but she had an act to play.

It was all an act...

Idris grinned. "It's too sweet, y'know? I prefer....more savoury foods. Spicy and sour." They glanced at Mei underneath a shield of curly black hair. His black eyes weren't full of anger, for the first time in a while.

The smile vanished. The twinkle in his eyes disappeared, replaced by the usual obsidian glare. Of course. She was just like the rest. He looked down at his feet.

"HEY! That's not very nice!" Sawyer snapped. "ID-ris over here is no loser, he's my friend, and he's cool!" they declared, sweeping an arm in front of him. "Mei, there's no reason to be so mean! I hope you were joking!"

Darcy rolled her eyes about something. "Mei, there's no need to call someone a loser for no reason."

Oh, wait. I know what that's about. She's upset that she agrees with me. Typical Darcy moment, Sawyer thought.

Darcy Harper's POV

I can't believe I actually agree with them. Darcy decided to pursue the other subject.
"Oh, of course!! I like those kinds of foods too! Any in particular you really like?" she asked.

Lucian Arbred's POV

Lucian wondered where his dormmate was. Wasn't he supposed to have one of those?...

Hopefully his friends were doing okay. ...would a murder happen right now? He sat up uneasily. He couldn't be everywhere in the school at once...

The atmosphere changed, everyone now had their attention on her.

Hmm... Did she say something wrong? ~~Of course she did, who was she kidding?~~ Nah, these guys were just too sensitive. She hated sensitive people, they never appreciated her humor! Oh well, she was really starting to like these people, but that's too bad I guess...

"Oh come on, lighten up a little, wouldja? It's just a joooke, I mean no harm! Guess you guys really are losers if you take offense to that..." She made sure to make that last part just barely audible for everyone to hear. Oooh this was getting good, she loved getting reactions out of people. Pissing them off made them think about their words and actions less and less, making it easier for them to slip. Information was soooo easy to get this way!

"Hey... I can say whatever I want! And stop callin' me pretty... Geez..." She turned towards Idris and gave a sly grin before muttering something else. "Heh, guess you're pretty spicy and sour yourself! You are what you eat I guess~" God, where was the end to her endless teasing?

"Someone must've chugged a gallon of that 'sensitive juice', eh?"

"O-Oh! Uh, right. A joke." Darcy crossed her arms and her face went red. Wh-what the- Oh, right... She remembered Mei's earlier comment. The same kind of teasing.

...she wasn't so sure she wanted to express any sort of opinion at the moment. Darcy went silent, kicking slightly at the floor.

She turned to Saeko with a shrug. No idea, she mouthed back.

Sawyer Laurens's POV

But Sawyer wasn't backing down easily. "YOU insult everyone here now? How dare you!" They seethed angrily. "I- I challenge you... to a hecking... CHALLENGE! Heck, I said that twice." Sawyer facepalmed. "IN THE GYM!"

Darcy Harper's POV

Darcy raised her eyebrows. Uh oh. When Sawyer challenged somebody to something, it was never good. "Th-they didn't- mean that," she stammered, strangely nervous. "Can it, Darcy," Sawyer responded. "May-May here just insulted everyone!"

Oh. Oh boy.

Lucian was having nightmares. Nightmares about Sawyer starting arguments with people.

Weird... She expected things to escalate, but this was fine too. Hey, it was a win-win for her, either get the enjoyment of pissing people off, or get people to like her. "And if you eat sh-"

Before Mei could finish her remark, Sawyer jumped in with a rather... annoying interruption.

"Hey, I'm just doin' my job! Gotta have fun somehow~" She teased once again, hardly giving a thought to the challenge. "Geez, learn to live with a little joke... I ain't accepting that challenge of yours, you deserved it anyways~" She giggled, leaning against the wall and not intending to follow Sawyer.

"...No. YOU'RE COMING! You disgraced everyone's honor!" Sawyer exclaimed overdramatically, as though they were a knight in a video game or something. They grabbed Mei and attempted to drag them to the gym. "Darcy, help me out here!"
Darcy glanced over at Mei and then back at Sawyer, pretending not to hear them.
"DARCY!"
Oh. It seemed Idris and Saeko were leaving.
"Oookay! See you guys!"
Darcy sighed and reluctantly came to help Sawyer. "THANK YOU!"
"...why am I doing this. I hope you're not doing what I think you're doing, Soy Sauce."
A spark occurred in Sawyer's eye. "I don't know, what do you think I'm doing, Darth Vader?"
"Stop."
"Okay, let's just get Mei to the gym. WE ARE DOING THIS CHALLENGE!"
