Koda leaned against a wall, and sneezed. The air was cluttered and dusty and she couldn't stand it. It was- was too stuffy. She needed fresh air and the trees. Somewhere open.

"When the music is playing, you all walk around in a circle, around the chairs stationed here. When the music stops, everyone must hurry to take a seat. Once everyone is ready to play, we'll remove one chair. Because..."

She made an emphatic motion with her hands. "When someone fails to find a chair to sit down on, and all the chairs are taken, when the music stops... you're out of the game. The goal of the game is to always be one of the people to find a chair. Just don't be last! We'll remove chair by chair as..."

She paused, shaking a moment. "...each person is eliminated. The last person standing-- or rather, sitting-- wins. Make sense?"

Is that how... this game Monokuma is making us play is going to go?

"I'm alive," Suko whispered. "I'm alive."

The words felt like a lie. Still.

Femi was dead. Kowai was dead. Everyone around them died. Every time they went off with someone, then that person died.

Was this how they lived? Stealing the lives of others? Casting shadows on everyone, spilling blood? Only to extend a life already doomed?

A sheet of paper was in their dorm. The one Monokuma had passed out. The first motive.

The one which would end Suko, and the rest of them.

They buried their head in their arms and weeped for the words they could never admit.



Hisoka Yamanaku



Hisoka jumped. "Oh! Hello, Maji. I thought you were with the others...?" He tilted his head to the side. His eyes appeared to catch on something behind Maji. "Hold on, could you step aside?"



Niwa Atsushi




"A live performance?" Niwa wondered aloud. Silence answered him. He tugged Keiki a little closer. "Alright then. Start. We'll win." He gave Keiki's hand a last pat.

Then he stood back and waited.
