She smiled at Megami. "Yeah, me too," she half-mumbled, finding some potatoes and mashing them, spreading butter over them. Grabbing and buttering some bread.too, and getting herself some string beans. Slowly, she began to notice.
"..." It was like the plate from that day, at the dinner table. It even looked like the same kind of bread. She felt nauseous, she could feel her insides swishing around like a turbulent, angry ocean...

"Everything is going to be okay."
Hisoka Yamanaku
"I accept your apology." Hisoka let his tongue savour the words.
He didn't know, honestly, what he was doing. Koda had never been kind- fierce and snarling from the first moment she'd arrived. She'd made enemies quickly and thoughtlessly, bonding with those she bonded with, and defying those she defied.
She hadn't wanted to fit in a mold, while that was all he wanted.
Maybe that was why they fought. They both idealized the opposite things, but now that they had both come to their own realizations, they could connect. They could tell each other the truth.
"And I apologize as well. For never seeing you as my equal." He bowed low to her. "That was wrong of me. I see my mistake now." He kept his head down, not daring to look at her. To wait for her answer.
Yet something warm thrummed in his chest. He trusted her now. She wouldn't crush him.
Perhaps we are... friends now?
Niwa Atsushi
"I don't like Suko," Niwa mumbled to Keiki. He held their hand over the table. "They're hanging around Nakata. She was-" he faltered. "I was with her, and Amano. And Nagisa, obviously- on the first day. Something's not right about her- and I don't like that she and Suko are together."
He gripped Keiki's hand tighter. "I think they might be planning a murder."
Suko Nobu
"Good!" Suko beamed at Suzume, but from what they could see of her, she didn't seem to be paying attention. Too bad! Suko was a bit curious about her.
Oh well.
At least they still had someone.
They glanced back at the girl across the table.
Her gaze didn't waver or show uncertainty as she stared, and she eventually broke eye contact.
Hisoka bowed once more, then hurried away, the click of his boots on the ground vanishing as he turned the bend.
Keiki didn't look worried. They squeezed Niwa's hand and sighed. "Me neither. Suko's always seemed...off. Y'know? I have a gut feeling that they're hiding something. I just know it"
"Hopefully not a murder but, what can we do, eh? Just have to wait it out, I guess." Keiki frowned.
Cafeteria
"Yeah," Niwa mumbled. "I guess I gotta trust you on this, Keiki." But he didn't look very happy at all. He finished off his fries and wiped his hands on one of the provided napkins.
"Ding dong ding! Lunchtime is over! Onto the rest of the festival. Remember not to miss the end of day dance! Monokuma stands provide delicious treats and wonderful knickknacks! Puhuhu~"
The Monokuma message shut off.
Suko stood up from their table with a clatter. "Well!" they declared. "I'm going to steal Hisoka's jewelry and play musical chairs!" They laughed. "Anyone wanna join-" they cut off abruptly. They were staring at the entrance of the cafeteria. At Koda.
Terror was written all over their face.
"I'm going to musical chairs," Niwa declared. "Then I'll set up poetry reading. It's on the 3-D classroom." He waited for several seconds, then scoffed and pushed out his chair. He left the room.
Cafeteria
Suko fell back into their chair with a thump. They stared blankly at the wall. Not a soul moved. Then, another message rang out.
"Puhuhuuhu~ You better get a move on, kiddins! Festival attendance is mandatoryy, righttt? Y'don'wanna break a rule like Femi once did!"
They jerked to their feet, sending their chair to the ground with a clatter. They were gone from the room in a flash.
Suzume Fujimori's POV
"..."
The bear was truly a monster. And the person controlling it, if there was any, was just as monstrous.
"I guess we should go," Suzume stated in a voice seemingly devoid of any emotion.
It's ridiculous. It's not like not breaking the rules would have saved Femi's life. Kowai killed him, not the school rules.
"He was... Going to get better. He was... Supposed to get better." A tear welled up in her eyes.
She had barely known him, and perhaps that had made it all the sadder. But... How unusual. How highly unusual for her.
"Megami?... should we go?" she asked, in a hollow voice. She turned to look at her.
But Suzume wasn't even sure she saw a single friendly face here. One of them was hung with such empty eyes, one of them was stabbed to death with the horrifically painful face, one of them seemed to cry... "Why?", one of them bore a crooked, all-too-familiar smile, one of them had a smile that was made of glass, that had shattered on the inside, falling down to the floor, one was merely a web of lies, lies with catastrophic consequences, one of them was a liar unto themselves, no one was a hero here... three of them weren't even here. ...and where were they, anyway?
...and one, two, three, four, five, six, seven of them... Were all dead.
She could almost see every face, melting away into blood. Slowly, she walked out of the room.
...
It's the same as before, isn't it? Why am I surprised... That I can't protect them? It'll be all my fault... Once again. If I hadn't...
She had to look. She barely knew her, but another was missing.
Missing....often meant dead.

"Everything is going to be okay."
Suko ran past him.
Hisoka sighed, running his fingers over the bannister. "I guess that's the end of the break, then."
