"Onto freedom and pancakes!" Suko hauled her forward and yeeted her into the endless abyss of the cafeteria. "KODA! COLLECT OUR RECOMPENCE!"
They staggered after her, giggling under their breath. Femi followed them, murmuring concerned words. Suko paused and banished the image from sight. Then they followed Koda.
Hisoka Yamanaku
"You wanted privacy for your secret," he replied, half-truthfully. "I figured it best to give it to you."
Hisoka Yamanaku
Hisoka heard that. He cocked his head to the side; curiousity flooding past the inner dams. "Is it so big a secret you would forget the identity of the person in front of you?"
Oh- no, she doesn't know me at all.
She sighed miserably. "I don't know- I just, ack. It's frustrating. I hate keeping secrets." She crossed her arms sadly. "It's just been bugging me all this time.."
"Do you ever wish you had different Talent? One that suits you better than the one you already have? One that doesn't seem like it's been assigned to the wrong person?"
Hisoka Yamanaku
He knew he should be paying attention. He knew she'd just told him. But he also knew that his heart was ripping its way out of his chest.
Oh- I can't breathe, oh I can't-
He swallowed down bile. Her words- the-
"Stones are all I have worked with," he acknowledged, a tremor in his voice. "I am fine being the Ultimate Jeweller. But if I could forsake the title-"
I don't want to be an Ultimate, or a Yamanaku.
He opened his eyes. "Well, I wouldn't be here, now would I?" He smiled a tired smile.
Koda sighed, and stopped to give Suko a hurt expression, only to change it to a mock hurt quickly. Koda shook of the look entirely, and grinned instead.
"Mm...true." She replied quietly. "I-...I would change."
She took a deep breath. "I think it may be clear now that my Talent isn't what I say it is, right? I think you might've picked up on that. I wish I could be some other Talent, or just be the Ultimate Librarian, for goodness sake. But no- I had to be stuck with this stupid Talent which must be wrong because- me, the Ultimate-" She sighed. "It's just stupid, seriously. No one'll take me seriously with a Talent like that, let alone believe that I am said Talent. Being the Ultimate Librarian, it's simple, no one'll judge you- and it's an uninteresting Talent, right? You'll be left alone, like I am. No one'll recognize you, no one'll talk to you. And that's good. Because here, the more you are left alone, the better chance of survival you have. At least, that's what I think."
Asahi paused.
"I just-" She groaned. "Don't want to lie anymore. It's hard to lie. Do you think, Hisoka?"
Hisoka Yamanaku
He tilted his head. Very little of what she had just said made sense. He had the feeling she was trying to justify it more to herself than to him. A flash of pity went through him. "I agree. It would be a good move, to disguise your Talent."
He waited for her to start up again. So she's like Niwa? Seems like a better person at the least. Less of a liar and more of a coward.
He jerked back to attention. She was speaking. And yet again, the words meant nothing to her. "I don't think so," he stated quietly. "Lying comes naturally to some of us. I think it's only the very few who fear it, from themselves at least."
Lies are you. Your insecurities, your fears, everything you hate about yourself coalesces in them. They're the one thing you can control more than anything, and if you anyone else knew what you lied about- Maji's face flashed through his mind -then they would know who you really are. Lying is the most human thing in the world.
Yamanakus weren't supposed to lie, yet they did anyway. Did that make them human? Humans pretending to be gods, instead of the other way around?
"I think that hating yourself for a lie, and not for what you're lying about makes you a good person, Chuku." His heart gave a deep shudder at the words. "Take it from a liar. And, if I might ask- would you tell me the truth, if you hate yourself so much more than it?"
Niwa Atsushi
"K-Keiki!" he stammered. "Wait! We don't want to get in trouble or any-" but Keiki was already off and Niwa was forced to chase after them. "Wait! Hold on!"
It was Hisoka and someone Niwa vaguely recognized. The two were talking lowly and looked up as they approached.
Third Person POV
"You don't trust me now?" He tilted his head to the side, an amused glint in his eyes. "I just spilled my whole soul to you- no-" he seemed to think for a moment. "No, I understand. We can talk later, alright?
And then thundering steps came down the hall. Niwa and Keiki raced up to them, Niwa wailing at the top of his lungs. "Hold onnnn-" then he tripped, collapsing on the floor in a bundle of limbs. Hisoka jumped back, too late.
"What on earth are you doing?" he demanded.

Suko Nobu
Suko giggled at Koda's expression, and gave a final tug into the cafeteria. The room was larger than the one at the beach house- much, much bigger! And much cooler, in Suko's opinion, judging by the array of dishes at the table.
They gave a cry of delight and dragged Koda closer.
"Let's eat!" they declared.
Suko Nobu
The excitement cooled in the subsequent silence as Suko heaped food onto their plates. They couldn't stand it. They were starting to shake again. "So, uh, you doing anything later?"
Good! Awkward enough to laugh about!
Suko laughed awkwardly. "I'm such a dorky Suko, sorry about that! Didn't meanta- I can be quiet nowww. Only if you speak, though." They handed her a plate, and took their own. "Alrighty, we're almost done. Anywhere you wanna sit? I can take the other chair, nearest to stalk you with!"
