Kayden's eyes snapped wide open, his strange dream being interrupted so suddenly by a pain greater than anything he had ever experienced in his life. It was coming at him from all angles, and he couldn't help but scream in agony. Everything was in pain, and he could feel the needles pierce his skin. Terror and horror and pain blended together into something he couldn't describe. Something worse. Something he never wished anyone else to ever have to feel.

He couldn't hold it in anymore. He felt the tears well up in his eyes and he squeezed them shut, his hands going up to cover his ears against the horrifying shrieks of others who he could only assume were experiencing the same horrid feeling as him. Despite all his best efforts, he could not keep the tears from flowing from his eyes, sobs filled with pain and fear mixing with the screams and cries of all the others. He could feel nothing but pain, when suddenly something snapped in his brain and he opened his eyes, his vision still clouded with tears.

His pupils had almost filled up his eyes now, large and round, and he could suddenly see so much more of what was around him. He began to shake uncontrollably, feeling something other than the pain sprout along his body. He cried harder, not knowing what was going on. Oh, why did he have to sign up for this?? Why must this always happen to him! He let out a scream, and he surprised even himself with the sound that came out of his mouth, feeling more like a bird's cry than anything. More terrified than ever, he kept his hands pressed against his ears, trying to stop the stream of tears that flowed from his eyes as if he had held a cut onion right in front of them.

Ky let out a growl not unlike a lizard's.

Their black eyes swivelled to the cell next to him.

They winced as they heard another bird-like shriek.

They snarled at their neighbour.

A forked tongue escaped their lips.

It tasted the air, then disappeared.

Ky shook their white hair, annoyed.

The bird-like shriek resonated in their skull.

Their ears were ringing.

"SHUT UP!"

They roared.

Kira watched as the snake-tongued person yelled. She wanted to yell back. But she was temporarily deaf, as the sound was louder.
She knew something was wrong. She stared at the person through the darkness.
Upon instinct, she yelled. "YOU stop!" She said. Oh shoot- she said, realizing she called attention to herself. She then added on "You're just gonna make them feel worse!"

Kira had nothing else to say. She knew the person would make a remark, or even yell at her. She knew people way to well.

Ky's head turned around.

They didn't speak, just stared.

Their black eyes were like pits of darkness, boring holes into the stranger that just spoke.

They flashed with intimidation.

Gleamed with anger.

Shone with cruelty.

An arrogant smile played on their lips.

Kira wasn't fooled.
"And what are you trying to do, huh?" She asked, a little more confidentally. "Hypnotize me?" She almost laughed. She smiled a toothy grin, which revealed her teeth. Long and pointy. "Snake, huh." She said after a while.

Back at home...
Warm...
Yelling, screaming...
Someone asking- no, saying something to me.
A fire.
A dream.
A fantasy. Yet it had come real. What she had imagined; real. What she wished; real. The only one who was kind enough to tell her, Grandpa, was shaking her violently-
People telling Grandpa to leave her alone.
Grandpa refuses.

Kayden, still shaking, heard as somebody in a cage next to him shouted loudly, most likely at him. He shrank back from the noise, causing another spike of pain to erupt all over his body. He uncovered his ears, instinctively on guard, and was astounded at how much more he could hear. The sound was so great it was almost overwhelming, only adding on to the agony he was feeling. He heard as someone else stood up for him, even though they didn't even know him. His sobs quieted though did not calm, wanting nothing to do with the attention he thought he might be getting. He could see a reptilian-like human in the cage next to him, his strange new vision allowing him to see in the darkness, and he figured that must have been who yelled. He mumbled a barely audible "Sorry,", the sound almost drowned out by everything else around him. No longer able to take the pain of all the noise, he covered his ears once more, squeezing his eyes shut against the tears that threatened to flood him.

Fanire woke up to the unbearably loud sound of pained yells, booming throughout the prison which held all of them captive. It hurt just to hear them, and the pain of the experiment just made it worse. Before it was equivalent to the pain she had already experienced before, just as unbearable but still not as bad as it could've been. Now? It was excruciating just to think about it. She never would've thought that pain like this existed, especially when she had already experienced so much. She wanted to yell so bad but she couldn't, the pain was making her throat tighten and her mind weaken to the point where she didn't know what to do. Thankfully, it ended shortly but she was left with the overbearing sense of anger and vulnerability. Her senses seemed to be sharpened so much that it was unbearable, and she was filled with a hatred for everything in her vison. There was something else that felt different, something that was filling her with dread and disgust. She looked down at her missing arm, only to find the arm of a black quadruped in it's place. I felt so weird having a limb there again, and what made it worse was that it was the limb of a fox. She had seen that animal far too much to know it's features. Oh how cruel... How cruel could the world really be to her? She became the very thing she hated the most, being tortured by something she tried to hard to excape from yet again.
