Priya dropped her hands, startled. She staggered back a few steps. "G-Genya-?" Her eyes shone with hope. She extended her arms.

She flinched back. "Who's... he?" She avoided Genya's eyes. "Someone... you know?"



Far away, Alexander was in another room.

He was lying sprawled across the floor.

Blood seeped around his head, staining black with scarlet against a white carpet flooring.

Blue eyes stared down at him. They closed.

And the person vanished.

She stood up, and left the room.

A shadow trailed behind her, bathed in a red light.

They walked down the corridor.

They called for Aleko.

They didn't get a response.

They walked into a room.

They gasped.

Priya scrambled after her. "Wait- Genya!" She caught the fabric of her cloak. "You shouldn't... I'm sorry... I should've told you that he-" Her eyes clouded with tears. And then they landed on the figure inside. Her eyes widened with horror. "Oh... gods..."

Genya walked to the body, and knelt beside it, leaving the shadow beside.

Genya didn't move.

She didn't speak.

She just stared.

The shadow drifted in and out of reality.

It glowed red.

It flew over to the body.

And placed a hand on it's face.

It jerked, then flew back.

It frowned.

The figure twitched slightly. More blood trickled down the sides of its head and began to dribble into the pool that enveloped its head like a moat. There was something in its clenched fist. A crumbled piece of paper. Its nails dug deep inside, holding it in place.

The paper didn't move. The fingers were sealed tightly around it.

At last, Priya recognized the form.

"Aleko?" she breathed. The horror was evident in her voice.

The figure glared at Genya and indicated the paper.

Genya shrugged.

It stomped a red foot and growled.

Genya sighed.

Only she could see the figure.

The figure glared at Priya, making angry motions with its hands.

Priya closed her eyes. A deep shudder ran through her body. She took a step closer to Aleko and kneeled next to him. She opened her eyes and examined the wound. "Some... kind of object slammed into his head. Repeatedly." Goosebumps started on her arms. "They were trying to kill him."

Alexander stirred slightly. This seemed to jerk Priya into action. "Genya, get back to the Nurse's Office. We can take him." She still wasn't looking at Genya. She stood up and wiped the blood off on her dress. "Come on."

Priya turned to Delphi as soon as Genya left. "I didn't want to say this in front of her," Priya said to her quietly. "But this situation isn't good for the school. Or for her. An investigation will commence and they'll probably turn to us students. Especially those of us who knew him."
