Somebody here.
It...
Couldn't be.
His jaw tightened. No. It wasn't him. It had to be someone else.
But the style used... the method of infiltration... the traces of a virus he had found at the back of the folders...
It sang all too closely to his style.
What was he trying to do? Following Alexander here? What had he accomplished?
...Well, Genya-
But those two were unconnected. She was just a student at St. Venti's, albeit connected to him, but only a side effect...
He relaxed his shoulders.
That.
That was it.
He maintained the cockiest look on his face as he strode through the building, though internally his mind was whirling. He just accomplished everything in one swoop. He got rid of it, and with that...
He paused, mid-step.
Then continued on. Genya would be fine. And he couldn't afford to worry about her right now. There was no time.
Everything else could be fixed later.
He deposited his laptop with the school computers, slipping back under the doors afterwards.
Now was the time to act.
"That little....Priya. Find Aleko. Tell him that a student is on their death bed. I've seen it. In my visions.
If he doesn't care, which will happen, alert Grimm.
Then come to the nurse's office."
Delphi ran to Genya.
"Poor girl."
She picked her up and took her to the nurse's office.
She stopped short.
The boy in her vision...
Their eyes...
"Who are you?" he demanded.
"P-Priya," she stammered. "Are you... Aleko?"
His eyes flickered. "How do you know my name-? Or rather-" he corrected himself. "Why were you looking for me?"
"It's... a girl. She's sick. My roommate sent me to look for you."
"Genya?"
"Yes!" She took a step closer and he stepped back. "Oh- sorry." Flustered, she stepped backwards. "I didn't mean to startle you..."
"Aleko" (?) ignored her. "Sick how?"
"She's unconscious. I don't know what's wrong... but Delphi seemed worried."
"She's fine," he said curtly. "It's not Genya."
"B-But it is!" Priya eyes flashed with confusion. What on earth was this boy saying? Did he even care? Wasn't Genya... his friend?
"It's not Genya, the way you know her. My appearance would only make things worse. And anyway, there's something that's a lot more likely to kill her on the loose now. So if you'll excuse me-"
Priya snatched his arm before he could push past her. "She needs you!" she spat at his face. He lifted his chin calmly. "I don't know what this is all about, but you owe her. She would be there for you-"
"Genya would. Not her."
Priy'a head was spinning. But one thing, one fact, settled with certainty in her stomach.
"You don't care."
"Not about her, no."
"I can't believe you." She released his arm. "You're... horrible."
"Most people are. Decide what you will about me, I doubt you or 'Genya' are much better. Now, if you'll excuse me-" He stepped by her. She let him go. She stared numbly at his back.
Poor Genya.
He strode down the hall, his head held high, proudly, his shoulders back. At last, the boy vanished into another room down the hall, one she recognized as a dorm.
Grimm...she reminded herself. She had to find... someone named Grimm.
"Grimm?" she called out hesitantly. "Er- Grinn? I'm sorry, I don't know your name- Are you there? Somewhere?"
You IDIOT.
Don't you understand?
I AM Genya.
You see, when she gets a little flustered...
She becomes me.
Her...emotions.
I...am not evil.
Nor bad.
I haven't done anything wrong.
I simply voice Genya's emotions when she can't herself.
For example....Aleko.
Right now, Genya thinks that you are on your way to make her feel better.
She doesn't know the truth.
She just thinks you've made a mistake, and you are going back to being friends.
.....
Don't you understand?
Can't you get it into that thick skull of yours?
Only worried about yourself, are you?
I don't know how she is tolerate you.
I simply do not know.
.....
I can't comprehend how she likes you.
How she feels to you.
Do you understand now, Aleko?
I do not know.
I simply do not.
How this pure child,
Full of innocence,
Overcome with grief,
Rage,
Pain.
How she could....
love you.
He opened the door. He heard the girl (Priya?) calling something behind him.
He closed the door behind him.
Tell her. Soon. I'll be able to answer. And you better shut up now. He locked down on his thoughts and peered through the shadows.
