Their clothes melted into red armour.
They opened their eyes. The sword was growing, the chains vanishing. They held it by the hilt, the chains unraveling, but vanishing before they hit the floor.
They sliced the air open before the last of the chains vanished, opening a blue gap in the reality. They touched it-
And their hand went through.
They stepped through, and with it, the portal closed behind them.
And then a buzzing sound erupted behind the two.
She glanced sharply back. A blonde head poked out through a fizzing blue portal.
"Hiiiiiiiwooooah... Uh, is this a bad time?" Seara asked, staring at the two of them. "I... don't want to interrupt... whatever you two... are doing?"
Isla's cheeks flushed, whether she was flustered or it was with anger, was unclear. "Nothing," she snapped, straitening up and stumbling back a few steps. "What're you doing here?"
"So, you here to invite us to the pretend 'party' you and your owner made up?"
"Her name's Grimm," Seara retorted. They could feel their anger rising in their throat, but gave her a smile instead. "I thought someone who came to this establishment would have the intelligence to remember names. But, y'know, there's always a variety here. Smart ones, brainless ones with the memory span of a peanut... etcetera."
Isla's eyebrows twitched and her smile intensified. "How long have you been practicing speaking, pup? That was quite a lot for you to handle yourself, wasn't it? I've never heard of dog's being capable of such feats. Why, you were close to a ramble in all that bull you sent my way, my precious petulant."
Seara drew themself up to their full height. Isla barely flinched. They were near the same. They stared at her for a few seconds, then gave a scoff and turned away. "Whatever. If you're interested, then you know where it is."
They walked through the portal again.
Isla took note of it, and turned back to Sasuki. "Well, that happened, hm? Now, where were we...?"
The blood dripped down his arm.
It was tar black.
He winced.
His fingers twitched closer to the drama masks.
Then stopped.
He opened his eyes.
Their sharp, granite colour became dull.
The shine faded.
Sasuki turned his head to face her.
Stared at each other.
"Hi!" Adrik waved with a smile that didn't appear to be very genuine. "S...Serie? Ser...."
"Seara," Seara corrected. They felt the ugly feeling again and gave him a sweet smile, hoping that he'd give them a reason not to break his face open. They couldn't... Grimm didn't want them to... although... "You coming to the dance?"
He blanked at that, and the fake smile vanished. "I... don't know."
"No one wants to go with you?" He flinched at that. Gotcha. "Oh well. Maybe you can come alone." He flinched harder. "Whatever, I got more people to vi-"
At that moment, Priya walked in.
What's with these people? Seara wondered. Don't they have anything better to do than walk into random rooms?
Isla narrowed her eyes, meeting his gaze. "What's your power?" she whispered. "Tell me now."
Adrik perked up.
Seara frowned and crossed their arms. "Uh... okay, sure, go do that." They shrugged a bit. "Just shut up and leave me alone, got it?" They eyed Priya. "You going with anyone to the dance?"
Priya proceeded to visibly wilt, even more so than Adrik. Adrik frowned at Seara.
"Hey!" Seara raised their arms in surrender. "What'd I do?"
Priya nodded at what Kaden said. She looked between the two boys in the room and raised her eyebrows. "I suppose," she said, with a pointed glance at Seara. "We should be going now..."
Seara's eyes widened. "Uh... right..." They didn't feel angry, more so awkward. "Right... see you all... later?"
"Tell me!" she snarled, getting right in his face. "Or I'll rip the secrets right from your spirit after I send your filthy soul plummeting down to the pits of hell!"
