perhaps it is a solution for you, who were outbid so often to try bidding later on, when only a few ppl are online. you may have a better chance. I saw rare pokemon go for very cheap (Dratini, Starter) and other times, they go quite expensive. It varies, i think auctions also take some effort, like lurking or trying several times for the same pokemon.

I've been outbid on many auctions before during the last 5 seconds, not giving me a time to outbid the new person, but I don't think it's actually necessary to extend the time of the auction. The person who set it up set it for a specific time. Like Autumnstar said, auctioning and bidding is to see who can bid the fastest. Yes, you may not be able to bid again with the lack of time left, and yes, refreshing the page constantly would be a hassle, but I still don't think it's necessary to extend the time just so you can get the auction won yourself when the other person was quicker. Now that sounds unfair for the other user.

So overall, no support from me.

To tell you the truth i really don't like this idea because when i bid and someone tries to bid over me, this is the strategy i use. I put a low number in the box and click bid so lets say a lvl 5 Squirtle was up for trade for 200 and i put 300 i would then put in lets say i only wanted to pay 3000 for it i would put 3000 pokedollars in the little box but i wouldn't click it yet because no one out bid me and as soon as i see someone outbid i instantly click it and i win. Also there's no need for it because if you use my strategy there's no reason to have a extended minute also with this strategy i have gotten some really good deals on the auction house and didn't use the "The second bidding" So i agree with Autumn is saying whoever is the fastest in bidding should win. So No support for me sorry :(

Bumping this thread, because it's a good suggestion. Especially now when so many people are sniping auctions. ._.

I still think that this is uncecessary. People will still snipe auctions, just 2 minutes later...

2 minutes isn't a snipe, though, as it gives plenty of time to counter bid.

1 minute is a bit long for the time frame, but I seriously think that within the last ten seconds, it should bump the time out to one minute or two to allow a counter-bid. Since even when watching an auction, a bid getting placed 1-3 seconds before it ends is beyond frustrating as there's not enough time to place a proper bid after that. Especially not if it's someone jumping it more than 10K right then. (And I have had that happen rather frequently)

If they try and snipe the auction again, it'll just bump up the time again. It's simple.

Well, that's exactly how auctions works, though.

And, in case you're the highest bidder and the auction is about to end, what exactly hinders you from placing another bid to outbid yourself in those tricky last few seconds?

That's actually not how most auctions work, Liirah. If somebody tries to outbid you at the last second, the host would bump up the time by a bit. That's usually how they work.

Actually, that's NOT how auctions work in real life. There's always a delay between the final bid and ending the auction (Ever hear "Going once, Going Twice, SOLD!"? Bids can be placed in the Going once, Going twice bit, and if they are, the auction doesn't end right then, they give it a few more moments), giving other bidders a chance to place a bid if they so want. Most online auctions will push out an auction if there's a snipe bid.

So, that argument is invalid, sorry.

Not really, I've seen only 1 or 2 auction sites that extended time and they are not liked among people here, so I guess there are 2 types of auctions, and one of them is here, on PH. Even Riako gets sniped, he said it himself in some thread or feed (I can't remember), and if that would bother him then he would change it, but he thinks it's fun and more exciting the way it is now and I agree with him.

Well, I certainly don't agree. It's not fun, it's annoying. And just because you know only 2 sites doesn't mean that's all there is. Most auction sites bring up the time if there are any last second bidders.

Well, I don't think this discussion is really going anywhere, it's like discussing whether rock music or techno music is better, some people like one and some the other one - here some players like auctions how they are now and some don't. You can't make everyone happy.

Well, yes and no, Diana. You must take into account that the auctions on PokéHeroes have a fix ending time set from the very beginning. Expanding the time over and over again would defeat the purpose of having such a setting at all.
If you wanted to have that kind of auction where the offered Pokémon would go to the user who actually placed the highest possible bid - in other words the auction does not end unless people stop bidding - then we would need to get a completely different auction system implemented. Then the auction would have a starting time and would run as long as people bid on it. So the auction would end when the start bid was made and no one outbid the current bidder within let's say the last 30 seconds. And maybe have the option to set an amount of time you want the auction to run at least, if you wish (in other words, this would be optional).

(edit; sorry for the delayed answer referring to Dianas post here but I was on my horribly slow phone. :'D)

The time wouldn't be expanded every time somebody bid on it. It'd only be expanded if, say, somebody bid at the last 10 seconds.

Yeah so? And what happens in case there are at least two people keep outbidding each other over and over again? Exactly, the auction would go on like forever -- they could do that for hours if they wanted to. And that's stupid with an auction system like the one we have over here on PH. It's not for nothing that there is the "auction duration" option. Like I said, if you wanted the auction to be expanded as long as people keep bidding, then you wouldn't need an ending time at all. Having both is just a contradiction in terms.

Then somebody should make a bid that the other doesn't want to outbid. Snipping an auction isn't a better idea for that.

It would only go on for hours if people kept bidding at the last few seconds, which is on them, honestly. I've seen way too many people complain in feeds and stuff about how annoying it is that people snipe auctions. And I honestly agree.

bidding like it goes in the real world would never work on PH, just deal with it sniping is legal even if you say 10 minutes before time bidding ends snipers still exist.

I get i can be annoying but people who snipe are no criminals they are just being smart about it :)

Nobody's saying it isn't smart or that it's criminal. This suggestion is to stop it from happening.

The people who complain are usually those people who just get butthurt over the fact that they didn't pay attention during the last moments of the auctions and thus were too slow.

I don't get any logic out of the suggestion here, so no support from me, either.

If you're afraid that someone outbids you, then just make a proper bid from the start so that the possibility of somebody outbidding you is not there. Of course there is no guarantee that it won't happen, but if you actually stay around during the last minute of the auction, you are able to do something against it. Getting a time extension just because someone made a bid within the last ten seconds is absurd and unnecessary, since each auctions is only supposed to be up for a specific amount of time.
