Serena gestured to the now-empty stand. "The announcement! It's spreading through the knights like old woman's gossip. Parantley, the Grym kingdom's knights, and there creepy old king-man is going to be staying here while they settle the alliance."


Ephina turned back as well. "I don't know what to think." She paused. "Avari, what do you mean by that?"

Avari plucked a single leaf off the plant, then crouched down on the floor. "Gerrin, c'mere." She held out her empty hand, beckoning for the fox. Trotting over, Gerrin tilted his head. Taking the leaf and grinding it up between two fingers, Avari held it out for the fox to smell. Willingly, he pushed his nose into it and took a few sniffs of the suddenly fragrant plant leaf. Sitting down hard, the fox looked as if he were about to sneeze. Then, he tried to stand, only stumbling before sprawling his legs out for support.

Serena hesitated. "I..I am, but I don't have any coins. Ichon don't pay us till next week."



Ephina groaned. "Avari, you are paying for evrey jar that fox breaks." Tazu laughed. "This should be good to hear."

"Gerrin, come!" Avari patted her legs, causing the fox to make a rather strange sound and saunter over, his feet seemingly getting in the way of themselves. A slightly confused "Growlf?" escaped the little white maw, causing Avari to chuckle. "Come on, Gerrin! Come on!" The fox let out a small bark, his tail wagging ever so slightly. Stretching, he prepared to jump at Avari, only succeeding in gaining a few feet of distance.

Ephina couldn't help but laugh, despite the fact that she stood protectively in front of the plants. Tazu chuckled as well. "I may not be able to see this, but it sounds like something funny's going on."



(Timeskip after this scene, it's only a few hours tho)

Serena shook her head. "I can't repay you though.." Serena looked down at the ground and scuffed it with her boot. "I'm used to going hungry, I can manage." The normal excitement in the young girl's eyes was replaced by a rather sad look at the akward moment.

Serena followed after him excitedly. The open market was just like the rest of Nyxbrim-loud, raucous, extremely dirty, and full of people. The area was littered with stalls, people selling all kinds of things, from meat to hat pins to haybales!

Serena considered this. "Well..." she spotted a large stand selling bread. "I haven't ever had fresh bread, c'mon!" She tugged on Herme's hand, pulling him like a horse towards the stall. But she stopped suddenly when she noticed that there wasn't anyone there, and a large sign was posted over the front reading, Removed by the King's Orders. She glanced back at him. "Do you know what it says, Hermes? I..I can't read."

Serena was confused. "But it's a bread stall." Looking up, she spotted something. "Look, Hermes, there's more of them!" Sure enough, there were signs all over the market now, the knights looked..different. Almost as if they came from somewhere else.
