Kate watched the others enter single file...were they settling down
for the night? If that was the case, then perfect! She could swipe
the plates and check on Xavier...and then hopefully get back in
time before the others noticed.
The Lugia realized as she sat down that she was running off of a
great deal more sleep than the others due to her stint of
unconsciousness. She pointed this out, saying, "Someone should keep
watch. I can do it, I'm relatively well-rested, compared to the
rest of you."
"I've got no problem with it. Would you like to take the first
shift or the second, or should we both do it at the same time to
keep each other awake?" she said, ignoring Mystin and getting up to
walk and sit beside the hot water heater in hopes of drying out her
clothing.
Tidal nodded, pulling her knees up to her chest, acknowledging that
being cold in a warm environment was arguably worse than cold in a
cold environment due to the differentiation of temperature making
her feel slightly nauseous.
Meka shrugged, switching from Eevee to Flareon, and lay herself on
top of Mystin, asleep instantly.
Kate stayed near Riko, eyeing Mystin's sleeping form. Now was her
chance! She thought. All she had to do was get past the
'watches'(who Kate thought was rather unnecessary). She stood
silently, and idea forming in her head. She turned to Zacian
Deciding to try Kate's suggestion now that she was in a warmer area
and her brain seemed to be functioning, for once, the Lugia used
Psychic to squeeze the water from her clothing. She was surprised
how well it worked, accidentally sending a splash of water
outwards. She tried to redirect it from hitting Riko and
accidentally sent it straight at Mystin. "Sorry!" she whispered,
burying her face in her hands.
The water hit Mystin straight in the face, but by some wonder, he
stayed asleep. He grunted a little, but continued his constant,
loud snoring. Water dripped down his face, but it didn't seem to
bother him in the slightest.
When the Lugia glanced up, she was shocked to see the still-asleep
Articuno. Tidal turned and grinned at Kate, amusement playing
briefly across her face before she focused back to fixing her
clothing.
Kate awkwardly grinned back, watching the others fall asleep. Riko
was dozing off next to her. Kate faked a shiver. "Is it just me or
is it cold down here? Do you think this store has anything for
that?" She didn't wait for an answer. "Hey, Riko! Let's see if we
can find something up there!" She grabbed the wolf's wrist and
darted to the elevator.
Kate watched the door open. She called over her wing. "Anyone else
wanna come? We're just gonna grab some stuff, maybe explore a bit."
She thought she could divert suspicion this way, letting as many
people tag along. The peices of her plan were starting to form
neatly in her head
