Mally smiled. "That's really sweet of you, Beta."


Megan took a sip of coffee and nearly spit it out. "They're letting kids have pistols now? Good grief, what is this world coming to?" she said as she pinched the bridge of her nose. "I'll take you, but please put the gun away and don't take it out. You're 12, for goodness's sakes. You shouldn't be handling guns!"

Goliath allowed the snake to strike, only stepping back at the last moment to watch as the heads tore themselves from the rest of the body. The force from their last attack had severed the final connections to the rest of the body, allowing the heads to clatter to the ground in front of Goliath.

Jaunita stared as the heads writhed on the ground, bare wires sparking and smoke curling. The rest of the body crumpled to the ground. "Goliath, you're the first person I've seen who's completely destroyed that robot! That was amazing!"

Goliath tapped his forehead, then his elbows and shoulders. "Thick bones. Strong tendons. Firm muscle." He kicked one of the heads away and stepped towards Juanita to allow Xailen to have a turn.

Juanita nodded. "I'm going to have to get a second robot. You completely creamed that one!" She left, walking into the darkness. Xailen put her hand in her pocket and leaned against the wall waiting for her to return. About 10 minutes later, Juanita returned and pressed a few buttons on the panel, and then put her hand on the panel. "Ready?" Xailen nodded. Juanita counted down again and Flipped the switch. The monster that she faced was a large, wolf sized hare with a snarling wolf head. It bounded toward her, teeth flashing. Xailen was quick to move out of the way. The wolfrabbit whipped around, balancing with its long shaggy tail, and lunged toward her, knocking her down. Xailen gritted her teeth and yanked something out of her pocket. She tossed it into the robot's mouth and kicked it's chest, sending it flying back onto its back. It lay still for a moment, then got up. It lunged for her again, and this time, it slammed her into the ground again. She managed to block its bite with her arm, but it took a chunk out of her sleeve. She shoved her arm into the mouth of the robot and yanked it back out. She then got up and ran away from the robot. It tried to chase after her, but halfway across the room, it halted. It began to shake and then collapsed, melting from the inside. Xailen leaned back, breathing hard. "Done."

Xailen leaned over, hands on her knees. She looked up and grinned. "Heat Bomb. I placed it inside the robot and dentonated it. The bomb superheated and melted it from the inside out. If it werne't so small, the whole I've been working with bombs for years, but I think I could show you a couple of things."

Goliath regarded the melting scraps of the wolfrabbit, then looked at Xailen. "You seem exhausted for doing so little to kill it."

Xailen frowned. "For your information, smart guy, I got chased around by that hunk of metal, it threw me to the ground, and you try shoving your arm down a monster's throat without getting it bitten off while it's trying to kill you and not be exhausted."

Mally smiled. "Honestly, it's fine. I've had worse. There's no reason to be worried.

The boy whispered to the others, "alright. The left side goes left and the right side goes right. The rest of you, follow me straight through the center. Clear?"
