Mordred noticed something in his eyes. “I don’t believe you, but I won’t probe you about it.” The fox muttered calmly back to him, a strangely motherly look on her face. She’d learnt to read people over her years, Opal was no exception.

"Good idea," He nodded, turning back to the maze. "We can follow our pawsteps back," He gestured towards the dusty path, where imprints had been left lightly, which one could see if you looked closely. Fortem hoped the dust hadn't moved, so they could find their way back.

She padded behind him, glancing at the parchment. “I guess we know where we’re off to next.” She tried to read his expression again, testing to see how he felt.
