"Ah..." Fortem paused, sad to have to leave Hiro. "Maybe another
time then?" He said, with a hopeful smile.
"Hmm..." Audax looked around. What were the chances he could find a
book on magic? He browsed the shelves some more, now with a goal.
It would be good to learn a bit more about what he was studying.
Audax, now hauling both this book and the original book, heaved
himself to the counter. "How much is this book?" He asked Sophia,
slightly out of breath. He fumbled through his bag to get some
coins out.
"Thanks, Hiro!" Fortem winked back, somewhat failing, and laughed
at himself as he padded out the door. "Which way?" He turned to
Emerald.
Fortem spotted the building, and began to head on over to it, all
while keeping and eye on where his wallet was in his bag, so he
could pay this time. A grin spread across his face.
Audax nodded. "...How did you know?" He quietly joked, surprising
himself. He put the 600 pd the table, with an extra 100 pd coin in
the tip jar. It was a little cheaper than he thought it would be,
and he'd been given great service, so he felt it necessary.
Audax was sure that his face would now be a lovely shade of red.
"Th-thanks," He stammered, embarrased, as he dropped the book in
his bag. It hit the first tome with an audible *thump* and he
padded out of the store, waving to Sophia with his tail. That
hadn't gone so badly... Well, time to head to his house before the
weight of the books squashed him to the ground.
"Not so fast!" Fortem was a step ahead of him, placing down the
right about of pd for the two of them as he turned to Emerald with
a michevious smile.
“Hey!” Emerald squealed, but it devolved into giggling as he
reluctantly put his pouch back into his bag. He blushed lightly as
he did so, looking flustered
Fortem smiled even wider, more happy to be with his friend than to
have been able to be the one to pay. If he was more talkative and
less shy, he'd have told Emerald that he thought he looked cute
right now... "Lets head to Rioverde then, shall we?" He found
himself saying instead, as he held up the two passes.
Fortem looked at the giant star, intrigued. "Is this what you meant
by fly?" He asked Emerald, quickly turning to face the Pelipper as
it looked towards him. "Here are our passes..." Fortem stated,
holding the tickets. He was already a little quieter speaking to
someone that wasn't Emerald, Hiro, or another friend. He was
grateful that Carnival wasn't underway already, or there would
probably be a line as long as 10 giant centiscorches.
Audax reached his suburban home, stumbled through the door, and
collapsed on the couch, able to put down his books at last. Maybe
he'd have to start working out or something... Audax thought it the
right time to take a look at his new book; not able to wait. He
could seem shy and reserved, but books like this really got him
going.
"Whoa!" Fortem was soaring as well now. He shut his ears to block
out the roaring of the wind. A rock type like him usually didn't
feel comfortable in the air, but Fortem did his best to relax.
More runes... of course! This must be the next spell, or another
spell at least. Audax decided not to mess around with it yet then,
not till he had a better grasp on nocturne. Tired from carrying the
books, Audax would get an early nights rest for tommorow's morning
shift.
After he let himself unstiffen, Fortem found the whole
experience... actually quite enjoyable. Is this what flying
pokemon feel like? He found himself wondering on multiple
occasions through the flight. Fortem only hoped there would be
something to catch him as he landed, since he was moving pretty
quickly... As the tropical island came into view, Fortem admired it
for a little bit.
Fortem tried to rotate in midair so that he could land on his back
in a more comfortable position than he saw Emerald land, ahead of
him. Before, he would have worried about the large spike oh his
back damaging the cushion or hurting himself if he got in that
position, but it had snapped in a fight a while ago, and hadn't
grown back. He landed with a loud 'uff!' next to Emerald.
Emerald leapt onto Fortem, nuzzling his belly. “We made it!” He
said cheerfully. It was hotter here, that was for certain. The
tropical air was really too
Fortem took a deep breath in after he was tackled. "It's certainly
hotter," He panted, shaking his fur. "I'm going to regret having
such thick fur, I bet," He laughed, getting off of the giant
cushion.
