Panicking uncontrollably, Nell tried to flap her giant wings but ended up hitting her left wing, which was already crippled, against the tree trunk. She grunted in pain and fell down again, stunned, certain she was about to be killed.

Exhausted and hungry, Nell closed her eyes again, but kept full alert. She was still wary of everyone, especially Elestra, and she knew she couldn't defend herself well if she were to be attacked.

Owin walked over to the injured Lugia. Vestige followed him. He got onto his knees and looked at the Lugia's wounds to see how bad they were.

Nell's heart beat faster, as all other Lugia she knew had been killed by human hunters. Her left wing lay limp, and the bones were clearly broken.

Nell's pupils dilated slightly and her breathing slowed. She knew if this human was a hunter, she would have been killed already. She stopped panicking and calmed down a bit.

Her eyes relaxed as she realized the Lugia was helpless. She was mean, but not that mean. Besides, she might regret hurting it. She pulled something out of her pocket and tossed it. It landed on the ground next to Nell, but not too close. “If you’re hungry.” She quickly looked away, trying to hide her feelings.
