“Ok, let’s head on ov-“ She paused. Every instinct was saying
something was wrong about someone. Someone far away. She didn’t
know who or what, or even if that someone was in danger, but
something felt wrong. Her parents said something about not trusting
a white dragon... there were 2 that she knew of. She shrugged it
off, thinking it was her being too paranoid. She had been betrayed
many times, but no one here seemed like someone who would do that.
“Sorry, lost my train of thought. As I was saying, shall we go over
there?”
"Yeh." Alex was startled to see a new timeline pop into existence,
where she had slit his throat without any warning. He would have to
be careful. He was not dying because of her. He would phase in,
phase out, and fly back to his den for testing. He had the trinket
and vial ready.
“Bye Chio, maybe talk later?”
The flew to the cave and landed at the entrance. “You ready? I
haven’t done this before, so if anything goes wrong, your body will
be split in half. Now, stand at the entrance and run at the wall
when I say go, okay?” She put her hand on his back and started
phasing, luckily, Alex was phasing too. “GO!” She concentrated on
Alex and his movements. She kept the energy with him while he went
in.
He tweeted through as fast as he could. He phased through, and he
was in. He stealthily dropped the trinket, collected the dust
behind his wing, and picked up the trinket. He filled two vials,
hiding one behind his hidden weapon, and the other in his mouth. He
then nodded to let her know he could get out again.
She saw Alex nod his head and focused her energy on him again. She
almost blacked out right after Alex got through, loosing the
energy. She didn’t know if the wall cut some of his tail off or
not, but she was too tired to see straight. While Mai was helping
Alex, something tried to control her. It took a lot of power to
hold it off, so it drained her.
Aria had stealthily sneaked up and tried to convince Mai to phase
her through. It would make the job easier and have a better chance
to succeed, but she fought. She was aggravated, but impressed that
Mai could resist. No one has been able to do that. She planned out
her next move. If Alex was halfway through, Aria would be able to
go through Alex and get through the barrier. She could bend the
light around her to make her invisible, using her psychic powers.
It would take a lot of energy, but she was used to it. She could
get out on her own with a large piece of the crystal. She could
maintain its energy connection to the rest of the crystal, so it
won’t be technically harmed. Then, Aria would have leverage.
Alex saw something pass through Mai's expression --- Extreme
fatigue? Yes. He looked through the timelines, and in some were
collapsed Mais. But in others - she was letting another dragon, one
who he'd never seen, being sent through the barrier. He went over
to the portal, still looking at inter-timeline Mai. Her eyes were
glazed in some, rolled back in others, but he realized that it
wasn't her. Not really. He decided to guard the barrier and
wait.

Alex saw Chio in the air and attempted to signal her using rocks.
He was a good shot, so he took aim and threw a rock close enough to
her to be seen easily by her. He needed her to help Mai.
“Are you okay?” Mai said. She was breathing hard. She saw Alex’s
color warp a bit. Could something have gone in there? She glanced
at Chio, who flew off. She felt bad for leaving her like that. She
had to make it up to her. She didn’t have any time to think because
her mind went blank and her vision turned dark. She felt herself
standing, but she was moving? She couldn’t stop herself. She was
too tired. She felt like she was warping into somewhere... She
regained control of herself, mid-warp, and her vision turned to
normal. She wasn’t solid, but in between reality and space. She
looked at Alex. “What happened? Can you see me?”
Aria was almost successful at controlling Mai. But she somehow
resisted yet again. She would need to lure Alex away, and bring Mai
to the meadow.
He saw it the glazed eyes. She wasn't herself. He almost laughed.
He'd been waiting for a chance to F I G H T. He hadn't been
studying for years on the mind to not know what this was. In the
theoretical realm, nothing intrigued him as much as mind control,
and theoretically, it would be accessed through the pupils.
Finally. He hadn't forced lenses on someone in quite a while. He
darted directly towards her, attempting to pin her. It was G A M E
T I M E.
Mai constantly kept blacking out and coming back. Each time she was
losing more and more energy. She couldn’t keep it up. The
thing was winning. She was out of the warp state. She was
fully solid and saw Alex running at her. She blacked out completely
and felt herself running at Alex. Was the thing trying to protect
her? Likely not, it was probably only doing that because she was
needed. She felt herself moving wildly. She thought about trying to
come back, but she would lose the “fight”. Suddenly, nothing
happened. She could come back. The world came back and she saw Alex
on the other side, close to the entrance. She was close to the
edge. She would be knocked off if didn’t run forward. She decided
to stay there. “Alex, wha- what are you doing?” She was terrified.
She didn’t have the strength to fight. She didn’t even want to
fight.
She could fly away, but where would she go? She couldn’t go to the
meadow because that’s where the voice wanted her to go. She didn’t
have the strength to fly far.
She continued to search the area that she had first meet Mai. She
couldn't find her it in was getting dark so she decided to go to
sleep and fly back tomorrow.

"Yeah, well, I'm testing something." Alex said. "Does the mind
reading come from your eyes, or some other thing? Does it have side
effects such as fatigue or loss of ones own existence? Chio, we
have to transport her somewhere safe. I saw a dragon in another
timeline, and I think she flew away that way." He pointed in the
direction of the meadow. He needed to attend to Mai, and someone
needed to chase the dragon down.
"Give me their looks, and I can track em down. Your lucky their was
a storm nearby, full of electric tail charge."
