Honestly, the idea of liking a sad feed doesn't seem right. Whenever I post about my asthma/possible depression, I get hearts for it. That's just not right. I feel there should be an option of disabling hearts on a feed, like you would disable comments/favorites on DeviantArt.

While I do like this idea, some feed likes have different meanings. Like, for example, when you like a sad post to show your support.

I dont think its really something that is needed. This happens all the time on facebook or other places where you can like stuff or they have a share option. I think a heart/like means "I care" or "here to listen" or maybe someone liked it because they are going through same/similar issue or know someone else who is. so... it's not always a "it's lovely that you have asthma/depression/tough life" or hearting/liking a sad story "just because." and just because someone did like/heart that feed doesn't mean they are fine or feel it's fine or truly actually "like" that you are depressed, abused, bullied, asthma, lost pet, etc.

as the others already said: a like on facebook is often meant as showing support even though i can understand i does look weird in certain cases and feels inappropriate.

but in the case of ph we have a heart instead of a like and i think its even more a kind of "i support you" than the like on facebook.

however i stay neutral on this, since removing the heart-option on single feeds would not be a problem, since there are also other ways to express your support and if the user who creates the feed does not agree with the view Steel5299, sweetpotato and i shared in this case, the user should not neccessary be forced to keep the heart on the feeds
