The Salesman led the way to the Great Deku Tree, where he just held his sword forward which defeated most enemies. When they reached Gohma he handed the bow to Ryu:

"Aim for the eye."

The Gohma let out a short cry and died. The Salesman cleaned his eyes of soap:

(Once I played the classic and the Level 2 Dodongo wouldn't die no matter how many bombs I fed it! It kept moving around and I slashed at it in desperation.

It died.)

The Salesman pointed the Dodongo Cavern on a map.
