Lunara hid a smile as she charged up an actually harmless shadow beam. She then fired. While this gave the guise of a powerful attack, it would not hurt him.

"play along" she crooned to Max, "The shadow beam is harmless. You can attack me back, just don't kill me

He easily made the shadow vanish before forcing Lunara to bow in defeat. Overyas just chuckled at him happily, "Well done. Well done. No effort at all. You are the strongest mage for a reason. Sophie, bring them the boy."

The maid nodded dragging Voila a bit who was squirming with the chains, "When Voila gets out of here, all you better run! Cause his powers combined with the headmaster's will easily defeat you!"

Voila however just chuckled and shook his head not believing her. She willingly tortured him. She willingly kidnapped Emmy. She hurt villagers with glee. She led evil armies. And now she was on her knees after a swift defeat. It had to be a lie. A lie to get her mercy.

Max nodded a bit. He couldn't reply to Lunara. Overyas was trying to read his mind. He was certain he could fend off the mind attack, but he had to be safe. Rather than say anything he gave a thumbs up that looked like it was for Voila, though it was also for Lunara "Welcome back young man, now let us get going Overyas, I'd like to see my cell."

Lunara followed back with them, and subtly transferred some of her power to heal Voila's arms. They were red and raw after the chains rubbed them. Now, they faded to a light baby pink.

And she made Oyevras flinch as she slammed a mental shield on Max's mind

Voila just stood stone faced not showing any signs of emotion while Maxwell smiled, "So, be good for the other teachers guys. My little vacation has begun."

Kelly glared at Lunara, and she thought she saw a hint of sympathy and apology flicker through the general's eyes. Then her voice entered her head, "I'm sorry Kelly. I just have to play along with them for now."

Wait had Lunara just apologized?

Suddenly, Lunara felt a sharp stab through her mind, and wincing, she quickly caught up at the front of the lines. She felt Skorn glaring at her, but she didn't respond. She and him were rivals anyway.

Skorn smiled at Lunara flames pouring out his mouth a bit before he began to lie, "I need to talk with you real quick at the back. It is something Overyas asked of me, and it must be kept no matter what. So it has to be at the back of the line."

"Sure." Lunara set up shadows to pierce his mind checking for other motives. None, at least from what she saw.

Suddenly, the shadows cried a warning, too late.

A large monster formed with large muscles and a sharp beak. His eyes glared Lunara before it let out a loud roar before crashing into Lunara with a mighty blow as Skorn smiled, "Isn't my baby great? I call her Chimi. I've learned to summon her two years ago. This monster is a special one. Magic won't harm it at all. You need weapons to hurt it."

Lunara crashed into a tree. She wasn't winded, thank god. She used shadows to rip away its sight. Scarlet came rushing back, "Lunara what-"

Lunara unsheathed her sword, "Scarlet get back in line!"

Kelly and the students were going back inside, when they heard the roar.

The monster however stood perfectly fine as Skorn pet it's beak a bit, "You see, centuries ago, mages were far stronger than one could ever hope for, the race of Gulorns couldn't survive them getting attacked for their healing blood, so they began to develop an immunity to magic. If you want to hurt Chimi, you'll need a sword, a bow, or something like that. Now kill them both girl. Feast on their bones for the betrayal of Lord Overyas, glory be unto his name."

Scarlet growled, "Leave Lunara out of this! I won't let you hurt my teacher!" She teleported onto Chibi's back, and drove her dagger through its eye

Lunara roared, "Scarlet! Go back in line! That thing wants to kill you!"

"My poor Chimi! How cruel! Unsummon!" Skorn shouted as Chimi vanished causing Scarlet to fall to the ground as he smiled cruelly, "Summon Arch Demon, Ilos!"

A winged monster emerged letting out a screech while Skorn smiled, "Life drain!" The demon let out another roar as it began draining away Scarlet's life. Skorn smiled as this began to replenish his mana he lost from the two summons.

Scarlet screamed, falling on her stomach. Lunara, immune to the demon's magic, rushed forward, but ultimately she was too late. Scarlet gave one last convulsion and collapsed, a ghost of a smile dancing on her face.

Lunara wailed in grief, long and loud. After a few moments, she got up and faced Skorn, glaring, "Oyevras will hear about this."

Skorn however smiled at this clearly enjoying the moment, "Which part will he care about more? The part that I attacked you, and killed one little girl, or the fact you purposely used a harmless attack against Maxwell, and apologized to Kelly? Why, one may consider that to be treason."

Once he turned away, she read his mind, his soul. And what she saw horrified her. To summarize, he didn't care for Oyevras or her. He wanted to rule single.

She caught up to Lord Oyevras and said calmly, "Can I talk to you for a minute?"
