Cindernight shook her head. "Unhook your claws!" She yelled at the struggling apprentice, who did as she was told, falling down. Cindernight rushed in, catching her.

"Why aren't you with Gingerpelt?" Cindernight snapped. Windpaw looked away. "I dunno where she went!"

Cindernight shook her head. "Just follow me, let's go on a border patrol." She said, walking out.

Sprucepaw could just hear movement and other cats. Carefully, he rolled around in a herb he didn't know the name of. It seemed to mask his scent. He then hid in a nearby bush.

The fox continued to shake itself.

Gingerpelt's claws got loose and she fell off of the fox. She landed mostly safe. She ran and dug her claws into the fox's back leg.

Cherryflight held on tightly, but after a while was thrown off, skidding across the grass and a few rocks cut his sides. He felt something off in his leg, but ignored it. He hissed and jumped up, scampering back to claw at the fox's side for a moment before leaping back onto the fox's neck and biting and clawing once more.

Ashpelt managed to escape most of the fox's paws, but was hit on the muzzle. The warrior felt blood coming out of the wound on his muzzle, but he ignored it. Ashpelt unsheathed his claws, and attempted to rake them down the fox's flank.

"I-I'm fine" Bluepaw meowed gently to Crystalpaw. He glanced at the fox, and suddenly felt sick to his stomach. What if the fox comes over here, and attacks us he thought sharply, and shook his head clear. "We need to fight" he said quickly.

The fox finally gave up, and ran away.

Gingerpelt didn't realize it before, but she had gotten scratched up by some of the bushes she had fell on. She shrugged it off, and was glad that the fox ran away.

"Do you want to die?!" Crystalpaw hissed "Plus you're injured." She said. Her voice was strict and demanding but her eye's showed that she was worried for the tom.

Bluepaw looked slighlty shocked. He bit back a rude retort, and began to lick his wound. Since when do you care about me? was what he was going to say, but decided against it. "Alright" he meowed gently. He watched as the fox ran away from the patrol. Ashpelt ran after the fox to make sure it truly left the territory. Bluepaw got to his paws, and kept his injured forleg off the ground. "The fox is running away anyway" Blueoaw meowed softly. Thank StarClan you, and the others are safe... he thought with a sigh of relief.

"Let's go." Crystalpaw said, not leaving the tom's side. He was going to say something.... wasn't he... She thought. She quickly licked the blood off her coat.

Cherryflight hopped off the fox as it ran off, limping a bit. "Oh dear..." He murmured. He must've hurt his leg when he was thrown off. He whimpered, catching up to the others with a pained look of his face.

Bluepaw looked up as he heard Cherryflight. He looked over to the other tom in concern, but didn't leave Crystalpaw's side. Still on edge from the battle, he was oblivious to anything nearby, but stopped when he saw Cherryflight limp into the clearing, "are you alright?" He asked the warrior in concern, and looked around for the rest of the patrol. Ashpelt ran back into the clearing, and was scratched across his muzzle. The gray warrior had a bite in his tail, but he looked alright.

When Breezeflight arrived, the fox was already gone. "Oh StarClan I should've been here!" he exclaimed, rushing to Bluepaw. "Are you okay? I'm a terrible mentor I never should've let this happen!" He bounded around him and Crystalpaw, murmuring terrified nothings to himself. The tabby tom was panicking, feeling terror as he realized his new Apprentice could've died.

"I'm so sorry," he meowed, dipping his head.

Rainrock saw the fox walking his way. The loner smirked and bounded to a tree. He clung to it with his hind paws as well as his front left paw. With his other paw, he unsheathed his claws and batted at the fox, daring it to come close. Rainrock knew there were deathberries nearby. Anyone would. So he'd just need to bait it and then kill it.

When the fox approached, he leapt off of the tree and ran toward the bush. The fox was heavy in pursuit. Closer, closer... The tabby tom whirled around and stopped at the bush. He crawled into the leaves and branches of it. If it tried to bite at him, it'd get one of the berries. If it didn't spit out the berry, he'd be fine.

The fox just ran past the bush, eager to get out of the cats' territory.

Gingerpelt wasn't badly injured, say for a few scratches on her sides. She walked towards the rest of the patrol carefully. "Do you want to lean on me?" She asked Cherryflight.

Bluepaw looked at Breezeflight in shock. "N-no it's fine. You aren't a terrible mentor" he began uneasily. He was overwhelmed now by his mentor's concern, and his injury. "The fox is gone now, and I'm safe. Crystalpaw and everyone else is to" he said kindly, and forced a purr.

Ashpelt walked over to Breezeflight, and spoke softly "Bluepaw, and Cherryflight might need rest. Don't beat yourself up to much about this. It could have happened to any cat" he said gently to the frantic young warrior.

Thistlepool nodded. "Very good. It stops bleeding and infection." She said, carefully putting the marigold back into the stores. "Now, can you remember and tell me about what I just taught you?" She asked.

Breezeflight sighed, shaking his head. "I should've been there to help fight, though," he meowed guiltily. The tabby tom flicked his tail. "Let's just get back. Rosestar will want to hear this." The gray tom started making his way toward the camp, sniffing the air to make sure there were no other troubles. Feeling satisfied with just the fresh scent of the fox they had just driven out, he padded back.

Rainrock was stunned to see that the fox just ran by. "So those LillyClan cats did a number on it," he meowed, shaking his fur as he exited the bush. "Yuck. Deathberries are gross until you commit murder with them. Then they're the best thing in the world." Rainrock murmured about something, ignoring the sounds around him.

Ashpelt flanked Bluepaw on the other side of the apprentice. He looked over to Bluepaw, who was limping, and was silent. "I'm sure Ivypaw, and Thistlepool will have enough herbs to deal with the wounds. Especially yours" he meowed gently to the apprentice.

"I'm fine..." Bluepaw meowed distractedly. He wasn't use to cats caring about him, but Ashpelt was like a father to him. He didn't say anything when Ashpelt protested he just kept his eyes ahead of him as he walked.

"It's alright now" Ashpelt told Breezeflight kindly. "Bluepaw and Crystalpaw are safe now." He purred trying to cheer Breezeflight up.

Oh, mother of Starclan.

Ivypaw flicked her ear and nodded. "Yes. Cobwebs stop bleeding, marigold leaves stop bleeding and infection, and juniper berries fix stomachaches and..." She trailed off, thinking. Urg, there's one more thing, I know it! "Return strength?"

Cherryflight looked at Gingerpelt and gave a soft smile. "If I may, that would be appreciated..." He admitted softly, looking away from the she cat to Bluepaw. He sighed. He was in worse shape than the warrior. He shook his head, and looked back to Gingerpelt with a tilted head, still limping as he walked.

Thistlepool gave an approving nod. "You're a good learner. If any of the cats from the patrol come back injured, I'll show you how to use marigold and cobwebs." She said. Thistlepool thought for a moment. "We might need to use some dock as well." She added.

Gingerpelt carefully walked beside Cherryflight. She was ready for him to lean on her if he needed to. As she walked, she could feel blood spilling out through a scratch on her pad. She shook her head. The medicine cat will be able to assist you. She thought.
