After a few moments of battling, Tess threw a Poleball, catching the Shinx. "Sweet! Gonna name you Pearl." Tess grinned.

Alex smiled and gently took a pink Pokédex from the stack. "I guess this means I'm an official trainer now, Squirtle." the young girl told her partner who responded by crying its name.

CJ sighed and took a black Pokédex without saying a word. "Thanks." he mumbled on his way out, Alex leaving moments after.

"Let's go show dad what we got today!" she suggested, running back to her house.
Coincidentally, CJ had been going the same route in order to get to one of the recommended cafés he heard about in Hoenn.

As Alex arrived home, her dad was waiting for her on the front porch to congratulate her and saw CJ walk by, his eyes widening at the sight.
"Cooper?" he asked himself.
"What?" Alex asked, turning around and seeing CJ.
"Oh, that's one of the other trainers from this group. He said he goes by CJ or something but he seems really rude." she explained.
"Wait.... Dad, how did you know his name?"

CJ turned and saw a man staring at him with wide eyes though shrugged it off and continued walking. After looking for a few moments, CJ couldn't find the café and decided to go explore Route 4 and train up a bit and there he ran into Tess in the midst of catching a Pokémon.
"That was a Shinx?" he asked after silently approaching her. "Hopefully it evolves into Luxray quickly, it's a good battle partner."

Tess jumped, along with Misty and Pearl. "Uh, hi, CJ. And yeah, that was a Shinx." Tess grinned proudly, balancing on her skates.

The Shinx was a normal Shinx, but he had a tuft of fur on his head.

Mira kept walking until she ran into a Gible that had jumped out from a patch of tall grass. "Char, you ready for your first battle?" She asked, grinning. Char barked in reply and jumped down from her shoulders, poised to battle.

"You're CJ, right? The super rude one? Hi, I'm Tess. Please don't yell at me. Or take offense. I ramble. A lot. Like I am now. I think I'll be quiet." Tess said, then realizee what she was saying and was quiet for a bit.

"I'm going to Satnalune city. At least I think that's where the first gym is? Never been this south, at least for a while. I'm from coastal Kalos."

"Rude? If me being honest is considered rude nowadays, you all need to ease up and learn how to take the truth." he scolded.
"I didn't catch your name, but yeah I'm CJ and this is my Torchic."

After receiving a little "care package" of some berries, potions, Pokéballs and Pokédollars from her father, Alex decided to follow the rest of the group out to Route 4, tracking them with their Pokédexes. She saw CJ & Tess, though decided to walk past as she didn't like the encounter with CJ she had earlier in the lab, though that didn't stop CJ from noticing her.

"I don't really like her..." he admitted.

"Tess. Alex? She seems... off. I'll give you that. But truly? I think being as ridiculously blunt as you seem is interesting." Tess said, being honest. "How'd she know were were here, anyway? Y'know, I'll ask! Why not?"

Tess skated after Alex. "Hey! How'd you know we were on Route ?" She asked, a slightly suspicious tone in her voice.

Mira battled the Gible until he was weak enough to be caught. She threw the pokeball, and crossed her fingers. It shook twice, then clicked. "Yeah! First Pokemon caught here!" She grinned, picking up the pokeball and placing it on her belt.

"Axy! Use Dual Chop!" Drake roared, as Axy looked back at him and then at the Ralts.

"Okay..I can do this.." Axy thought. "Prepare to be defeated!" Axy roared as she went in for clean chops on Ralts. Two loud chops were heard hitting Ralts, but Ralts looks unfazed. "Woah..that pokemon is strong!" Drake said, grinning.

The Ralts retaliated with her Disarming Voice, hurting Axy alot more than it should have. "Ouch..that hurt!!!" Axy roared, now angry at the Ralts. "That's the spirit Axy!" Drake said, noticing Axy's rage.

"Oh... no..." CJ sighed when Tess approached Alex, slowly following her.

Alex slowly turned her head at the sound of Tess' voice behind her.
"Well, there's a little tracking feature in the Pokédex that shows us where we are." she explained, demonstrating how to use the tool to Tess.
"It's probably something new to help us find each other in a bad situation." CJ hypothesized, Alex forcing a smile after he spoke.

"So... found any Pokémon out here yet?" Alex asked the two awkwardly.

"So, stalking, basically?" Tess pointed out, then shook her head. "But it's cool."

Tess then pointed to the Shinx on her head. "Yup, caught this little guy. How about you, Alex?"

(Oh yeah, I know Fairy types are immune to Dragon type moves if anyone's wondering.)

Axy glared at Ralts for a bit, thinking of what her next move would be. "Axy, try using Dual Chop again!" Drake commanded. "This time, you're going down!" Axy roared, as she charged at the Ralts and went for two more chops. Again, both chops left Ralts unfazed as she went for another Disarming voice.

"It's too much..!" Axy said, as her body struggled to stay up. "I...I'm sorry.." Axy says, as she falls down to the ground. Axy has fainted!

Alex shrugged before nodding at Tess' statement. She then looked up at CJ before turning back to Tess to answer her question.
"Aw it's cute! Well... I just got here but I was hoping I'd be able to run into a Pokémon or two so I could start practicing for performances." she admitted.

"Have you heard of Pokémon Showcases? They only happen here in Kalos and it's an all female-exclusive competition where we compete to see who can dazzle the audience the most to win a Princess Key. Once you get 3 Princess Keys, you can enter the Master Class Showcase where you can challenge the current Kalos Queen and either be defeated by her as she defends her title or defeat her and be crowned the new Kalos Queen." Alex explained, pulling up a couple of example videos on her Pokédex. She wasn't sure if Tess was into that thing, but could definitely tell CJ wasn't as he was simply staring off into space, prompting her to stop showing the videos.

"The current Kalos Queen's name is Serena. She's amazing with all her Pokémon. She has a Braixen, Pancham & Sylveon and they're all just -- outstanding at performing. I want to be just like them, heck, maybe even better than them someday..." she rambled.

Drake's smile quickly faded into a shocked look as Drake ran to his Axy. "Axy! Cmon!" Drake said, picking Axy up. "I gotta get you to the Pokecenter! Now!" He said, as he ran back off to Lumiose. The Ralts stares at Drake as he runs off, and slowly begins to follow him.

Tess simply smiled, pretending to be interested but not really. She preferred training her Pokemon for battles, even though catching them all and completing her Pokedex was her goal. She didn't like Pokemon being dolled up.

"That's really cool! She sounds awesome." Tess said, trying to hide her boredom. "I'm trying to complete my Pokedex! I saw a few Pokemon in that grassy area over there, try that for some cute Pokemon? Shinx's evolutions are as adorable, so don't go for them if cuteness is your thing."

Drake quickly rushes through the route gate, and scurries towards the nearest pokecenter. The Ralts, is still following him from as distance as he carries Axy. "Don't worry Axy..You'll be okay.." He said, not noticing that he began repeating himself.

"Well, I feel like you can bring out the uniqueness and beauty of any Pokémon in any performance honestly..." she admitted.
"But I only have Squirtle right now and I don't want her to get hurt trying to battle an Electric-type anyway."

CJ looked town at Tess and Alex. "I'm gonna go look for Pokémon." he told the two and started to walk off.
"Wait, CJ." Alex stopped, prompting the male to turn around. "Have you met my dad?" she asked, making CJ appear to be puzzled.
"I just got to Kalos literally an hour ago... Why?" he asked, seemingly curious now.
"Well, he seemed to know your name... Well, at least that your name's actually Cooper."

Drake finally made it to the Pokecenter, when he noticed the Ralts still following him. "What do You want." Drake said, with an angry tone in his voice. The Ralts looked at his pokeball, and pointed towards it. "Umm..You want me to catch you..?" Drake asked, slightly confused as to why. The Ralts nodded and smiled. "Oh..well fine. But you have to be friends with Axy." Drake said, as he grabbed his pokeball and threw it at the Ralts.

"Shake..Shake..Shake..DING! Ralts has been caught!"

"I don't know how he could know that considering my mom's been calling me CJ for as long as I can remember." he informed, causing Alex to become more puzzled than before.

"We'll get back to that... Why don't we all kinda -- walk together and look for Pokémon to catch or train a little bit?" Alex suggested to the two.
CJ, warming up to the girl, exhaled. "I don't see why not... How 'bout you, Tess?" he asked.
