Elli shifted from the cave and kneeled down beside Evie, his eyebrows knitted in concern. Her offered her a half-empty bottle of water and she took it gratefully, only allowing herself to down about an inch of it. "It's all okay," he whispered, offering a faint smile of reassurance. There were bags under his eyes.
"Yeah. It's... all fine," Evie echoed, pulling the blankets off of herself and regaining composure.

Ivy was still out cold, seeming to have been more exhausted than she had looked.
"You... didn't sleep," she said to Elli, although her attention was directed on his knuckles. When he moved his fingers it seemed perfectly functional and normal, and he seemed to have feeling in them, but his knuckles were brass and quite alarming. The machinery was strange to Evie. Usually, modifications like that were used for amputees, but in Elli's case...
"It's kinda like an improvement, actually. I'm kind of weak, so it helps my punches hit harder."
Evie nodded. "You don't seem like the fighting type."
He only laughed. "I'm not, but I guess I have the skills to be if I wanted." He smiled at her and Evie hesitated before smiling back, standing up and brushing herself off. Elli walked towards Oliver and Dexter and motioned her to follow.

''you are not fit to go anywhere in your state Elliot, your staying here and resting'' he said, pointing straight at Elli.
the rebellious lux may not look or openly admit he is concerned about the four's health and safety, but he truly was concerned and cared, and was wanting to try his best to keep them all safe.
they're children sent here to fight an adults war.... they don't deserve a fate like this he thought to himself, still utterly sickened at how the government is working on the fact that ruining a generations lives just to end a war is the "perfect" solution.
Evie said nothing, standing beside Elli and waving slightly when Dexter looked over at them. She could see the anguish on his face when he turned--his disgust was strong enough to let it seep through--but had nothing to say about it. She was arguably angrier than him since she was one of the teenagers forced to participate in the mini-war.

''Oliver was updating me on the affairs of the Lux's and Nova's, but he say's that the Lux have invented something called a "cellphone"? what are those use for.....? i'm actually quite curious now'' as a glint of curiosity entered his gaze.
"We started the revolution or whatever of inventing when we were in a peace pact with the Nova, so they worked together to make practical inventions that benefitted the citizens. Like cell phones and stuff. After that, a Nova general was murdered--of course, they told us he committed suicide--by a Lux and the war burst into flames again. Ever since that, the Lux have focused their creations on machinery and weapon-related things." She rubbed the back of her neck as she spoke, her resentment for her country seeping into her tone.
"The Novas made an effort to catch up, but they were pretty desperate and made risky calls," Elli said softly, knocking his knuckles together. "I suppose I'm evidence of this."

''back when i was actually 18 i managed to sneak into a military laboratory and stole a syringe that had this strange serum that they were testing that gives immortality, hence why i haven't aged past 18 and look like this, a 37 year old trapped in my old 18 year old body....'' he muttered, though still audible enough for them to hear him.

he sighed and lowered his arm's, his gaze falling to the stone floor before he continued.
''i left this place after that happened and camped out in the nova territories forestry.... that's when i met my girlfriend, Adriane...'' he said quietly, his voice catching after mentioning his loved one's name.
Dexter covered half of his face with face with one hand while his other had clenched slightly into a fist, which trembled slightly as memories flooded through his mind.
''goddammit..... why must you betray me now emotions...'' he muttered to himself, trying to fight back tear's that threatened to fall.

''i'm... fine.... anyway, i... i failed to protect the group i was with...... i failed them and i've lived with the guilt of what happened to my girlfriend..... you already know the rest'' he said, voice still noticeably still a bit shaky.

but his eye's said it all, the fact she didn't believe him still obviously both angered and upset him.
''i'm not blind girl, it's plainly obvious you still don't trust me, if you need proof than fine'' he snapped, reaching back behind his head as he unclipped the lockets chain and pulled the locket itself out from under his shirt.
''this was her locket, i've had this with me ever since she died, and ask yourself this you f---ing brat; did you even see a teen in the immense crowd at that meeting yesterday that looked like me? cause i sure as hell know i wasn't anywhere near that place!'' he shouted, the tears that had built up in his eye's earlier now trailing down his face without him seeming to care.
Oliver had jumped and was staring at Dexter with wide eye's.
Dexter soon put the locket back on and grabbed his sheathed dual sword that was propped up next to him before storming off to blow off some steam.
"Evie--" he started, but she interrupted him by shaking her head.
"No. Let's just leave him be and go looking for resources around the area... give him some extra time by not being here whenever the hell he comes back. Although he was certainly right about you needing sleep," she said, her tone flat as she looked at Oliver so she could avoid Elliot's soft eyes.
"You shouldn't be afraid of Dexter. It's a sensitive subject, y'know? He's trustworthy," Elli mumbled before she could fit in any more words, leaving her staring blankly at Oliver. She believed Dexter's words at this point but was trying to shove the encounter to the back of her brain; Dexter's pain reminded her too much of her own.
"Do you hunt?" She asked Oliver, stumbling a bit with her words. Elliot sighed and walked back over to Ivy, shaking his head slightly.

Oliver looked at Evie and stayed silent for a little while before he rested his shotgun on his shoulder, a playful and sly grin crossing his lips as his eyes lit up.
''of course i do, i used to go hunting with my father'' he said.

once Dexter was for the most part out of earshot from the group and unsheathed his sword, yelling with frustration as he swung the sword at a tree, soon enough getting it stuck due to the force of his swing.
''she doesn't get it..... she won't ever get it...! i've been through hell and i've got innocent blood on my hands from so many years ago.... and i... i couldn't.. save them......!!'' Dexter sobbed, finally breaking down as he dropped to his knee's and covered his face.
Her amber eyes darkened for a split second with something of a menace, but she turned her face away from Oliver when she made a comment, "I can handle most of the people killing if you need me to."
