Oliver sighed and stuffed one of his hand's in his pockets.
''that dude has some major problems.... but he seem's... friendly enough....'' he chimed in.
Ivy leaned against the cave wall and stared at the ground, hugging herself as she stood there.
''i just wanna go home.....'' she muttered, tear's welling up in her eye's.

"Oh, yeah. He was real friendly to that Lux representative over there. Even spared half of his limbs! If that's not friendly, I don't know what is," Evie huffed sarcastically, crossing her arms closer to her chest. Elli sighed and rubbed his face in his hands, turning to Evie.
"Look, Evie. We took a chance on you two and it worked out for the most part. Hopefully for the best. We want something from Dexter and he wants something from us--that's the barrier that holds us from trying to murder each other. It's worth a shot, don't you think? If we're going to survive, we need shelter. And it's right in front of us," Elli said, staring her straight in the eye. She hesitated and took a minute to take in what he was saying. "It's two against one, anyway. If you don't want to stay you can go off on your own," he added.
Elli turned around to Ivy, running a hand through his hair. "Hey," he mumbled, "you're gonna get to. We're going to get through this and then we're going to go home. And it'll be peaceful and happy for once. We'll have to deal with some stuff along the way, but I promise you that I'll get you home. On my life." He offered her a small, promising smile.

''on the contrary blondie, that kid barged in here thinking it was empty, once he realized it wasn't i forced him back out when he tried to attack and finished him off'' came Dexter's voice, suddenly being right next to the small group.
Ivy jumped and yelped, staring at Dexter with wide eye's as she clung to Elli, her arm's wrapped rather tightly around his torso.
Oliver flinched slightly and aimed the shotgun at him, gritting his teeth slightly.

Evie sighed and laxly turned her head to Dexter, her face still unamused. She could hardly stand to be around him. Evie fought back the urge to say something about him barging in on them--that would be hypocritical--and instead looked over to Oliver. He won't shoot, she thought to herself, almost disappointed. But it was a sign of good heart, in which she was the only one in the group that seemed to lack it. "Can't take someone by their word these days," she retorted. Plus he's only helping my claim by jumping at us like that.
Her eyes flickered to Elli, who had flinched at Dexter's voice and would've raised his sword, if not for Ivy.

''hun he pulled a dagger..... quick little tip, don't pull a dagger out on someone who's had practice in fighting and is more experienced at fighting then you are and has been in an all out war before..... mostly dealing with only nova teens, may they're soul's rest in peace.....'' he muttered, putting his hand over his heart as he stared up at the ceiling of the cave as if it wasn't even there.
Oliver slowly lowered the shotgun and seemed to relax just a bit, but not by much.
''that's a rather sincere motion from a crazy hermit like yourself lad....'' he muttered.
Dexter gave a crooked, twisted grin and tilted his head as he looked at Oliver, not seeming all that bothered at being called a crazy hermit as an insult, he more took it as a compliment.
''why thank you bud, that's very sweet'' he said with a small chuckle.

He's got skills, at least. That can turn out well in the long run, Elli thought, still clinging onto Ivy (although he hadn't come to terms to what he was doing quite yet). Still... his eyes freak me out. But he seems to be truthful. His mind warred between whether or not he could trust Dexter, but he said nothing to say.

''look... i've not tried to kill you all thus far have i? i'm taking advantage of this little situation and taking a break from gathering stuff for myself and in return, i let you shelter here until whatever's going on is over, break the little deal though and it's curtains for all of ya, seems fair enough don't you all think?'' he questioned, crossing his arm's as he straightened, raising an eyebrow at them.
Ivy glanced at him and shrank a bit, not exactly one to trust easily.
Oliver gritted his teeth and narrowed his eye's.
''how is that "fair" exactly?!'' he said, getting rather annoyed.

Evie was still intensely tracking Dexter, waiting for him to attack. Her opinion was clearer than ever and she now believed that she had Elliot on her side, too.
He seems civilized enough to not attack us if we were to decline his request. Either way, it would be four against one--although Ivy and Elliot might back out of a fight... God, are they even military trained? She thought, now a bit stressed. Evie really wished that she had gotten to know the group a bit better before she decided to run off with them, but she knew that she had been walking into a mistake when she met Oliver. Risks are going to be the death of me, she thought bluntly, noticing how Ivy shrunk back.
"And if we decide to back out right now?" Elli asked, still staying close to Ivy.

''do you really think a thirty seven year old hermit could kill a group of kids who obviously outnumber the hermit by three...? no.... besides i only killed one person after nineteen years of living here, so hell if i care if you leave.... not like you four would be the first to do so..'' he grumbled, going back to his things as he put his hand over the locket under his shirt.
Oliver simply looked at the other three then back at Dexter.

But he's a genuine guy. Intimidating, but maybe he just has to be. Surely he'll warm up? Elli thought although he had already locked in his own opinion. He looked over at Ivy, who he had practically clung to since introduction, and waited for her opinion. She was, Elli knew, a bit more cynical than him. He wouldn't want her to feel uncomfortable around Dexter, so he supposed that it was her call.

Ivy sighed shakily and glanced over at Dexter, then looked up at Elli.
''he.... he is scarred, mentally, physically, and emotionally.. he sound's very lonely and scared Elli'' she said, looking back over at where Dexter was.

Elli's eyes were soft, but pleading. He glanced over at Dexter and back at her, his shoulders scrunching tensely. "Exactly! Ivy, there's so much abandonment and hate and betrayal in this world--wouldn't it be so much better if we had people on our side? He's not asking much of us and neither are we." He was gesturing wildly, but speaking softly. "We're all lonely scared if you think about it."

''tch.... like i want any pity from the half of your group... hell, blondie was still trying and still is trying to blow my head off even after you've been stopping her.....'' Dexter grumbled, looking over his shoulder at Elliot.
Oliver huffed and gritted his teeth, holstering shotgun and crossing his arm's.

(i was gonna point out.... you meant Evie instead of Ivy, right?)

(no lol,, he's been clinging to ivy ever since they met)
Elliot flushed and crossed his arms, not quite sure how to react to Dexter's cynicalness. He quite clearly still believed in the hermit, but he had miles to go before he could convince Evie (and maybe Oliver) to stay on their sides. The two Luxes were, admittedly, not the friendliest, but they were fierce and it would be nice to fight with them rather than against them. Evie still stared at him with intense, challenging eyes and a somewhat laid-back pose.
He huffed, his cheeks still pink, and looked at Evie somewhat pleadingly. "You can leave if you want, but I really think you'd have more of a chance staying with us."
She glanced up at Oliver for a moment before shrugging and uttering a simple "Sure."

Dexter soon disappeared into his little area and soon started to make up his bed with a bunch of big and surprisingly intact blankets and a few pillows, then tossed a few extra out for the group.
''i'm gonna get some rest, you can fight over who can keep first watch and who gets what with then blankets and pillows'' he said, kicking his boots off before he disappeared into his little nest of blankets and pillows.
Oliver sighed and covered his face.
''god this is gonna be a hell of a ride....'' he grumbled.

Elli's eyes traced Dexter until he disappeared, to which he looked around and the group and plopped down by the edge of the cave, his legs crisscrossed and his sword propped up right next to him. "I'll take the watch?" He suggested although it was more rhetorical than anything. He never slept too much anyway, and he knew that sleep would only lead to a particularly bad night for him. "Are you sure?" Evie asked, her tone softening. There was a genuine look of concern in her eyes that suggested she felt bad for letting him do it, but he nodded confidently.
"I'm better at fighting than I seem," he promised, smiling brightly at her. Evie awkwardly stood there, looking around and waiting for Oliver or Ivy to claim first pick on one of the blankets. She ran a hand up her arm, clearly noticing the drop in temperature but not addressing it.

Ivy walked over to the pile and grabbed a pillow and a couple of blankets, carrying one over to Elliot and draped it over his shoulder's.
she then sat down a little bit away from him yet still close and sat her stuff down between them, her sniper rifle propped up against the wall and the bag supporting it, then proceeded to lay down and cover up.

Oliver made sure his shotgun's safety was on and lightly patted Evie on the head, then went to get his pick from the pile.
''lass yer shiverin', you should've had a jacket and jeans, or leggings like the nova girl is wearin' ya know'' he said genuinely a bit worried about her, and grabbed a medium sized quilt before walking back over to her, putting it around her shoulders and wrapped her up.

Elliot smiled at her and pulled the corners of the blanket to his chest, happily trapping himself in the warmth of it. "Sleep well," he chirped almost melodically, adjusting himself so that he could grab his weapon quickly if he needed to.

Evie opened her mouth to say something but was speechless for a few seconds because of surprise. "Thank you," she managed to say, glad that it was dark enough to cover her blush. She pulled the quilt closer to herself. "I didn't realize there was a dress code to death games." She smiled softly--the remark was more of a joke than a sarcastic jab at him--and settled down so that she could lay on her back and look at the star-ridden sky behind the tree leaves. It was calming, almost, and it directed her thoughts away from what she was afraid of. She sat in silence for a moment before turning to Oliver. Evie was still skeptical about him, and she couldn't help it. "Have you ever killed anyone?" She asked, her tone firm and steady so that she didn't show vulnerability.

Oliver had knelt down by the pile and grabbed a pillow, tossing it over to her as he pondered her question for a moment.
''no, i don' like the thought of killin' another human bein' Evie..... but i won't hesitate to kill just to be able to save myself... i'm loyal to my allies though, so i won't betray anyone'' he said, fishing around in what remained of the pile of blanket's and pillows, which was still a lot.

He didn't answer the question, Evie thought, too suspicious for her own good. No. He's telling the truth. The only reason he would withhold is if he was guilty of killing someone before. Instead, she just nodded and mumbled a soft "I see." She thanked her once again for the pillow, wedging it in between her upper arm and her head. She put her glasses in her messenger bag and silently slipped out a pistol, stuffing it under her pillow so that she wouldn't alarm Oliver.
