Evie tightly gripped her dagger in her dominant hand, setting her glasses next to Oliver and slowly creeping out of the bush. It had taken them a long while to finally find the boar, especially when they realized that they hadn't been close to any source of water, but they had been lucky to track it down as it waddled throughout the forest. Charging towards it with a knife, however, was far from Evie's best idea--silent hunting was a bit out of her range, but she was hungry and reckless like that. She also knew that there was no chance of her overpowering the beast, but she knew her way around a knife and figured that there wasn't much life ahead of her anyways in a killing game.
As she leaped to stab, however, there was a crack from the distance. The boar collapsed to the ground, shot straight through the eye. Evie slipped back into the bushes and put her glasses back on, holstering the dagger in favor for a pistol. "I don't know if they saw me," she mumbled to Oliver, "it was a weird angle. I say we wait for them to collect the boar and take them down while we're at it--two birds with one stone, yknow?"

Oliver watched in the direction of the crack in the distance and gave a crooked smirk as a malicious gleam entered his usually gentle gaze.
''with how dark it is i doubt they saw you lass, and i don't mind playing the waiting game for the f---ers trying to steal our future meal....'' he muttered, making sure his shotgun was loaded and ready to strike.
it was like a switch had been flipped in Oliver that caused his sudden aggressiveness, as if he'd been waiting for a chance to release his hidden anger out on something or someone.

Evie looked over at Oliver, captivated by his sudden vindictiveness, and turned back to look at the pig. She could feel warmth crawling up to her cheeks and mentally cursed herself. In the distance, she saw a tall figure, wearing what seemed to be goggles, with a sniper rifle slung over their back. Too far for either of them to shoot with a pistol. As the figure grew closer she was able to identify it as male, with a bright red streak in their hair. That's... there's no chance, right? she thought, biting her lip and lowering her gun. A moth cat scrambled out of the bushes and followed closely. Evie swore under her breath in disbelief and put a firm hand on top of Oliver's, forcing it to lower.
She put her pistol back. "Orion," she called out before she rose, grabbing his attention. He snapped his head in her direction and put his hand on his rifle, but smiled when he realized it was her and walked towards her with open arms. "Evie, dear, it's been a while! I see you're here to piggyback off my kill, which is always exciting~" He embraced her before she could reject and she uncomfortably scrunched up, Koji happily making his strange click-purr noise.
He let go of her and looked at Oliver, still grinning. "Oh my, you have the brightest green hair--I'd say I could spot you from a mile away, but I clearly didn't."

Oliver had his shotgun aimed and ready when the stranger walked into view, but tensed slightly when Evie forced him to lower his weapon and really got a shock when she called out the strangers name while standing and going over to him.
he stood up and he seemed to switch back to his original state, though seeing Orion hug her caused him to almost bristle as his gaze clouded with jealousy and what looked like a murderous glint that shown through.
the moment Orion started talking to him he seemed to snap back into reality, blinking a few times before hhis gaze cleared up and looked at him with wide eyes.
''thanks.... i guess...?'' Oliver muttered.

(Yandere Oliver alert, lol)

Orion pouted briefly, "Well, no need to be cold, I haven't got a weapon! My name's Orion, I'm a good friend of lil' Evie here." He grinned and ruffled her hair, much to her discomfort. Evie subtlely backed away and stood by Oliver's side when nobody was paying attention. "And this," he bent down and picked his moth-cat up, "is Koji. I stole him! He's from a Lux mutant experiment and he's my baby~" Koji's legs moved and his mouth opened to make a shrill chirping noise at Oliver.

Oliver looked at the moth-cat and scrunched his nose a little bit.
''how the hell do find that thing cute..... it's the ugliest little monster i've ever seen... anyway, if you'll excuse me i'm going to go try and find a way to get that boar tied up and ready to take back to mine and Evie's base, you can just move along and hunt something else, goodbye'' he said, the last part a bit more hostile than it should've been, and walked around Orion towards the boar before he could do anything about it.

Evie, who already knew that she liked Orion more than Oliver and the other strangers, sighed and walked up to him. She squished Koji's cheeks and pet his ear, to which Koji affectionately made an almost cat-like drilling noise. She did this with a straight face as if she were examining the creature rather than just petting it. Koji licked the tip of her finger with one of his tongues and Evie pulled her hand back to wipe it on her shirt.
"Nah," she said, looking nonchalantly over her shoulder at Oliver. "Orion's a good friend of mine; it's his kill anyways. He's coming with us."

Oliver stopped walking and turned to give Evie a rather irritated side glare.
''the moment that bas---d follows, i'm shooting his and that abominations brains out, you hear me....? we have enough people as it is in that cave, we don't nee-'' he said, but got cut off as something whacked him in the head and knocked him flat onto the ground out cold.
standing there was Dexter, having a fist raised while looking down at Oliver.
''does this guy ever shut up....?'' he grumbled, then looked up before spotting Orion, a faint blush blanketing his face and lowered his hand.

Evie flinched back in surprise, angry that she hadn't noticed Dexter approach. She had been completely ready to threaten Oliver with mutilation and the fact that she now had to swallow her anger so quickly almost disappointed her.
Orion immediately stepped back and raised his weapon, to which Evie put her hand on the nozzle. "No," was her only explanation; Koji stopped growling and Orion accepted it as a viable answer.

"Hi, Dexter. This is Orion. He's a friend of mine," she said bluntly, looking at Oliver's body on the ground. She heavily considered leaving him for a long moment, but she did firmly believe that an ally with guns would be a valuable one; Oliver was a Lux and, although she hated herself for having a bias for such thing, they had started to develop a bond that she was trying her absolute best to ignore.
"Was... a knockout really necessary here? I mean, he's an absolute a--hole, but it'll be a bit of a hassle to carry back." The more Evie thought about how Oliver acted towards Orion, the more she wanted to leave him behind in the dust.
Especially Koji... she thought, saltily, 'Abomination'? Koji is cute as hell.
"Well, nice to meet you," Orion said, smiling at him. "This is Koji." The creature cooed and stood on its hind legs as a greeting.

he had snapped out of his thoughts when he noticed the gun pointed at him, reaching for his sword's out of instinct, but froze when Evie lowered the nozzle of his gun and slowly relaxed again.
Dexter waved at her greeting and simply stepped over Oliver's sleeping form as Evie introduced them, kneeling down to pet Koji and mumbled a soft ''cute...'' that was still audible, then stoop and looked at Orion before he grabbed his hand and shook it.
''pleasure to meet you both'' he said, giving Orion a crooked grin as he let his hand go.

he then looked to Evie and raised an eyebrow, amusement dancing in his dual colored eye's.
''you do remember i'm not actually eighteen right....? i can easily carry Oliver back to the cave... unless you both would rather carry him and i drag the boar back'' he said, resting his hand's on his hips as he waited for a reply.

"You... still have the body of an eighteen-year-old?" Evie said sarcastically (though she wasn't quite sure how youth potions worked), looking down at Oliver and crossing her arms. Orion smiled at Dexter and knelt down to pick the boar up. It was a smaller boar, but he still managed to carry it in his arms much like one would carry a baby. Evie made a move to help him, but he simply shook his head.
"We need someone here to have a weapon at ready, just in case. It's a crowded game, dearie~ although that wouldn't stop us from simply getting sniped from a distance, just gotta hope for the best!" He purred happily. Evie rolled her eyes but took his advice, fastening her grip over her pistols.

''Evie we went over this the day you and everyone else first met me, my mind and soul are that of a thirty seven year old while my body has retained itself as eighteen years old, i've been a hermit living out here in this secluded forest surviving on my own for as long as this forest has been peaceful...'' he grumbled, though when he caught Orion smile out of the corner of his eye he turned his head to look at him, a faint blush falling over his cheeks.
he blinked and shook his head, covering his face a bit before he picked Oliver and his things up, slinging the knocked out lux over his shoulder with surprising ease.
''lets get going before someone finds us'' he said, then headed back to the cave they were hiding out at.

Ivy had woken up and was rummaging through the ammo supplies Dexter had accumulated over the years, actually surprised to find ammo that was compatible with her gun.
he actually has sniper bullets...? and these still look fairly usable.... she thought, storing some of it away into an ammo pouch she had been given at the start and soon got up and headed back to Elliot.

Elliot rubbed his eyes from sleep and slowly sat up. His head was still spinning and his heart was racing from a nightmare he could hardly remember now. He ran his hands through his hair a couple of times to fix it and pulled his scarf over his mouth, sitting in deep contemplation and wallowing in the lasting negative emotions that his nightmare had left him until he realized that Ivy was walking towards him. "G'morning," he said, his voice muffled by the scarf.

Ivy blushed faintly and smiled, sitting down beside him and hugged her legs up to her chest, resting her cheek onto her knee's.
''morning Elli... you doin' alright..?'' she asked softly, her magenta colored eyes glowing softly from the light that poured through the caves entrance.

He nodded. "Yeah. Finally got some sleep... it's a bit weird to think about the situation we've gotten ourselves into. Honestly, it makes me sad just thinking about it," Elli admitted, gazing out of the cave. He snapped back into reality and pushed the idea of impending doom to the back of his head, turning to look at Ivy and mustering a smile.
"How are you?" He asked, brightening his tone.

Elli smiled, reminded of the bad situation but focusing more on her humor. He looked up at the sky and wondered if the others had been gone long. Or if they didn't make it out there.
He ground his teeth together and turned back to Ivy to ignore his intrusive thoughts. "How'd you learn to snipe?" He asked, the first thing that came to his mind.

she perked up when Elli asked his question and straightened up a little bit, pulling the sniper on her back around to look down at it, going silent as he gaze slowly softened.
''my uncle taught me.... first he started me out with a small gun, like a pistol, then worked me up to this right here.. this.. sniper is actually his'' she said, a small smile appearing across her lips.
Ivy sighed and held it closer to her, closing her eye's while she thought for a moment, then pulled the letter out of her satchel to stare at it, her small smile wavering.

''the sniper was his final gift to me before the lux that had him captive, trying to get answer's out of him, killed him because he wouldn't talk.... before all that he had taken me out to practice, and had me promise not to say a word about what he was going to tell me.... not even my parents'' she said, voice quivering as her smile vanished and her hand holding the letter trembled.
Ivy gripped the letter in her hand a bit to crinkle it a little and bit her lip sorta hard, almost drawing blood, and sighed shakily.
''the reason i'm being blackmailed is 'cause he gave me top secret information about a weapon the nova military was working on.... and out of desperation to save my parents who ended up taken hostage to a lux, i told them.... my parents and i were spared and the lux ran free back to they're country... i've lived my entire life keeping that secret until that one year.... and after i've lived with the guilt of breaking that promise i made with my uncle'' she said, sniffling softly before setting both the letter and sniper down to curl up where she sat and begin sobbing.

Elli lightly rested his hand on her shoulder blade to reassure her. "I don't think you should be guilty... you did what you could to save the lives of your parents. That's a heroic act, Ivy. And it's not like you jeopardised the Nova's chances of winning the war--if you had, we wouldn't be doing this right now. Nothing can break the stalemate."
He sighed and picked up her letter. "Your uncle, he... he sounded like he loved you a lot. I'm sure he would forgive you, especially if it was for such a good cause. You have a good heart and any good person should value that above all else."
He poked her cheek to draw her attention and softened his voice. "Don't let them break you. They could be lying, anyway." He ripped the letter into pieces and tossed its remains beside him. "That letter, it's just... mind games. Propaganda. Whatever you want to call it."
