The Joker stood above him, a bit of blood on his jacket. He smiled
and kicked him one last time before pressing a button on the remote
in his hand. He turned and ran away.
Next thing he knew... BOOM.
He winced and kicked in his sleep, breathing heavily.
Jason opened his eyes and grabbed his arm, wincing, but slowly let
go of it. He looked up, eyes filled with fear, and took a deep
breath. He didn't say anything.
He sighed. "Gotham is still exactly the same," He mused, looking
around. "Not much has changed there."
~~~
The Joker ran. Fast.
The electric pulse had hurt, but he shook off the pain as he ran.
He came across his base within an hour and threw open the doors,
much to the goons' surprise. "Jason Todd is back!" He
laughed, grinning. The goons sighed in relief and slowly lowered
their guns.
"As in...?"
"Robin!" The Joker strode in. "Or as he'd like to be called, the
Red Hood. Best part? He kills. No vigilante, not
anymore!"
"...Really? Well, that explains the water powers," He shrugged.
"When did you come to Gotham, then?"
~~~
"Didn't you-"
"So what if he wants me dead? He's on no one's side, at least, not
right now," The Joker went on. He pulled out his knife, suddenly,
and threw it. It stuck to the top of the table, still wet with
Natia's blood. "Scan that. We could learn more about her," He
ordered, walking off.
"One day I was coming out of the ocean to gather seashells for my
jewelry, then a building was on fire. Hundreds of people were out
their so I put out the fire using my powers. People told me I was a
hero, the city I was in just happened to be Gotham" she said.
He rolled his eyes. "Being a hero is overrated. All it did for me
was get me in a coffin. Everyone was more obsessed with Batman, and
how he did everything. I was just his kid."
"I can't say that I know what that is like. I never actually had
family or friends. I had grown up by myself. Anyway, do you know
this city well?" She asked
He nodded. "I've lived here most of my life. I know everyone. At
least, I thought I did..." Jason sighed. "I don't know. I guess I
have some catching up to do."
