When the Joker realises what she said about ultra violet. He should
see words saying 'Jokes on you. *Insert fowl obscenity here.*'
Altessia when she knocked him out had pickpocketed the real cape.
And put a fake one in instead. She wont give him the cape. Altessia
remains on guard as she checks he batcomputer.
On the screen was the criminal file for Scarecrow. Criminal
records, last sighting, real name--you name it, it was there. Below
it were a bunch of other files for various villains.
"Why would I break something that no one uses anymore?" He called
over, not budging from his spot.
"Why do you do anything?" Altessia asks him rhetorically. She
answers before he has a chance. "For something else to be a part of
your sick joke." She spits at him.
The Joker chuckled. "What else could it be? You've heard the
stories, you've done the research. Now, you just need to figure out
what I'm doing right now."
"Batman is dead. He was the detective. The job is much more
complicated then you might think, kid. It's not just fighting a
villain, training a little bit, and repeating the cycle."
"It i also to detect. Evidence and make sure the evidence matches
the conclusions." Altessia says keeping the explanation simple for
him. "A difference between us two is you have to talk your way into
peoples heads to twist their perceptions. I can get in there any
time I want."
"Can you? That's interesting" Midnight said while walking into the
bat cave. His powers were harder to control when he was off his
carpet for some reason. He smirked
He smiled. "It works well enough for me. But that's also a
similarity, you see. Twisting perceptions is key to winning. We
both know this well enough--it's really the only reason I'm alive,
and it's the only reason you haven't attacked me yet."
"The only reason you are still alive is because of a certain
annoying fact that I play the heroine. And I don't want to have
blood on my hands." She says. "Plus I like biding my time." She
finishes on the batcomputer while her AI, Eri got all the
information off it. Copied of course. "And what did this person
want with the batcape?" She asks knowing Joker has pawns. Not
friends.
"Which means they are highly likely the one that killed the bat.
Why aren't you upset? You lost one of the main things that kept you
going." She says still suspecting him but for now ruling out joker
as a suspect. He even mentioned needing Batman. And when ever he
had the chance to kill him. He didn't.
After putting away his groceries, Beck remembered that he needed to
pick up his mother's package. He groaned. Right when he was
about to get on his computer, too. Steeling his motivation, Beck
descended to the apartment complex's post. "Mr. Haller," the female
clerk greeted him coldly. Old bat. The shut-in used to have
a thing for her daughter, but that had changed rapidly once she
found out how Beck lived.
Beck grunted as he lifted the package. He went to the gym a couple
times a week, but that didn't help him much against the large box.
His face turning red, he barely managed to hobble out the door and
into the elevator where he dropped the burden. He took a minute's
rest as his floor was found before resuming the awkward journey
home.
The Joker laughed. "You... You don't get it, you do?"
"When Batsy was killed, I did consider leaving Gotham. Made one
last little robbery. But, something happened. Someone stopped me.
Want to take a guess who? Because that person--rather, that group
of people--made me decide to stay," He was obviously preparing to
leap onto the carpet for a swift getaway.
Altessia walks over to the carpet and grabs it. She moves it in a
way that would make the person on it fly of. She also attempts to
make midnight fly into the ceiling. "All I remember is smashing
your face into gravel after beating you. And as for a replacement
for Batman. All I am is a shadow."
The carpet didn't budge, instead it shoved Altessia back. "Unless
you can break the spell on this carpet, it's not moving" he said
while not opening his eyes
He smiled. "I don't recall seeing you, no. But your friends. I am
only here because this city is too much fun. It's fun to see
you people try to stop me. It's fun to see your reactions as soon
as one of us breaks out of Arkham, or jail."
He climbed on the carpet, flicking a card onto the ground. "Just a
little ally of mine. Keep in mind, Al--yes, I heard her say your
name last night, too--that as long as someone is here to stop me,
I'll be in Gotham."
Altessia asks. "And the rest of that name is? She asks not
convinced he knows her full name." She dusts her hands of. "And my
reaction to when one of you breaks out is boredom."
