That's really it. There are people living in different countries
from where they were originally from, and in my opinion it would be
a cool feature to show both countries in your profile. It could
also work for showing the languages the user speaks.
Please don't vote you "wouldn't use" this suggestion just because
you don't live in other country or don't speak any other language.
Vote thinking about if this suggestion would be useful to you when
you see other's profiles.
P.S.: I didn't know if I should have posted this at New Features or
Other Suggestions. If it is the case, mods, please move ^^
I don't have a PC with me right now so I can't forum search. I did
a brief Google search and haven't found anything.
As someone that's ethnically Chinese but prefers to consider
herself Canadian, I'd really like this. I don't use the Canadian
flag because that'd just get into a long convo about why I use it
even though I'm Chinese and living in China right now. I'm sure
anyone else that's an international student would like this :)
I totally support. Though I don't really get how the flag shows
what language you speak. I still support.
@meme
SilverStar talked about why that could be a problem.
A person who speaks German could use the German flag, a person who
speaks English the United Kingdom flag... Maybe a secondary part of
the flags part can be added exclusively for languages.
Why should I have to put the flag of my current country only
though? The insinuation would be that I'm Chinese because of my
Chinese flag. But, if you try to converse with me about Chinese
stuff, the chances are, it'll be useless because I'm a Canadian
citizen and am also more Canadian than Chinese in terms of how I
act.
It's not about language though. It's about accurately representing
who you are. I'm not just a Chinese girl - in fact, if you asked me
which country I'm from, I tend to say Canada even though I'm
ethnically Chinese and was born in China.
Support only if it is optional... since (currently) I only have one
country... and I'm not keen on using a flag to state that I speak
English and Hindi... it's rather apparent that a user speaks
English just by looking at a feed.
@PkmnTrainerV Of course it's going to be optional! It's already
optional to choose a flag.
Some users don't speak English and use web translators to post
feeds, you can't rely on feeds to know if they are English speakers
or not.
