"Oh, tonight I do have class, but I wanted to ask what time you get back from yours, that way I'll be sure to not wake you." Elvira said as she bowed her head in thanks for getting the door. As soon as she entered her nose was assaulted by pleasing scents, and her eyes were filled with beautiful colors and patterns. "Oh wow..." Her head slowly swiveled as she tried to take it all in.

"I know, right?" Roxy said smugly, a grin on her lips. She then greeted the hostess, who smiled and lead them to a little booth. "I normally am studying or out working at nights. I'm a receptionist in a local office building. And they run all hours of the day. Not sure why some of the people think midnight is the best time to be working but I guess when inspiration hits, it hits. I'm mostly there for people to sign in with. I have plenty of time to sit and fiddle with my latest crafting idea or do some reading. They have to have a badge to get in anyway. I'm more or less a safety procedure. It pays well though," she added with a shrug. Then Roxy took a breath, calming herself and banishing any sort of tick that'd give her away for lying. "I've got a shift later tonight so don't worry about disturbing me. I'll probably be back in time for breakfast. Then I'll be out for a few hours."

Out all night? That's perfect! I can come back at any point and not have to give any sort of explanation! This is going better than I expected... Elvira took her seat opposite Roxanne, a huge smile on her face as she sniffed the air and looked all around. "That's good, my other roommate hated it when I woke him. I generally get some sleep after I eat some breakfast, then I have a couple afternoon classes."

Roxanne was glad their schedules were similar. It would make things easier for sure. "Sounds like a good plan. We won't have to worry about disturbing each other. Should we come up with a bathroom schedule? I'm pretty much good to take a shower whenever. I don't mind waiting. My last roommate insisted on that sort of thing. Same with groceries. She insisted everything had to be right down the middle. While I don't mind that sort of thing, there are certain things I don't expect to pay for or make you pay for. Things we share, it makes sense to split. So what looks good?" Roxy asked, pulling out the menu from where a couple sat in their little cubby next to the wall at the end of the booth.

Elvira picked up a menu and began scanning over it. "Eh, I'm not that particular about schedules for the bathroom... Shower when you need it I suppose. I tend to shower during the day anyways. I mean, if it's something we're going to be sharing, some food items, feminine products, electricity, that sort of a thing, then yeah, we'd split that. But personal things I'm expecting to pay for myself." She smiled. "Oh!" She had just got a brilliant idea. "When we get back home I'd like to take a look at all of the electronics that are plugged in, I know a few ways to cut down on power consumption without affecting how charged the things are. That way we can save on the bills." Not only did her power allow her to save money by charging batteries and the house, it also gave her the ability to make money. A job working with electronics was perfect for her.

"That's how I see it as well. And that sounds great! I try to not run up a huge bill, using a power strip I can turn off while nothing is charging and that sort of thing. I try to keep lights off when not using them and try not to waste water either," Roxy said, scanning the menu as she decided what she wanted. "But I'm sure I'm not doing as good a job as I could be." Setting the menu back in it's place, she folded her hands and set them in her lap.

"It sounds like you do everything you can to not use more than you need." Elvira smiled, her job got easier. Since the power bill would already not be overly huge, she wouldn't have to "fix" the electronics much to cut down what she had to chip in for that expenditure. "Hmm, I think I'll be going for the pork lo mein and a small hot and sour soup." She folded the menu back up and returned it to its spot before clasping her hands and gently setting them on the table, her eyes still scanning the restaurant. "I really do like this place, and I haven't even tried the food," She giggled.

"Just you wait. I absolutely love the food here. Everything about this place makes me happy. I've decided on sweet and sour chicken with egg drop soup," Roxy decided, smiling as the waitress made her way around, asking if they were set. Roxy smiled, nodding. She ordered a strawberry lemonade to go with her meal before turning it over to Elvira.

Elvira politely ordered her hot and sour soup and pork lo mein, with just a cup of water. She thanked the waitress before she left and turned her head back to Roxanne. "Will we be splitting the bill or just paying for our own meals? Oh, and I don't think I said this, you can call me El, it's a little easier to say in a rush than Elvira."

"I'm cool with either option. And you can call me Roxy if you'd like," the blonde said, smiling as she inched forward on the booth. "So...what's your story, if I may ask. I don't want to intrude and know things you'd rather not tell but whatever you're alright with me knowing. Unless you'd like me to go first?"

"I don't mind going first, but I should say in advance it's not that pretty." Elvira took a breath and cracked her knuckles before beginning. "I'm an orphan and was passed along through so many foster homes that I lost count. I never stayed long in any of them because I was a strange child. I would go out into whatever town we lived in and not come home until really late because I was exploring. Even the kids in the public schools I was in didn't like me. Eventually I grew up and no one wanted to adopt a full grown me." She motioned to herself and the restaurant. "So here I am. Scholarships and grants is how I've payed for college." She decided to leave out the parts when she'd accidentally shock someone, and the time that she accidentally shocked a bully so hard that he almost died of cardiac failure. Those were probably best left unsaid.

Roxy smiled sadly, her hands reaching a had across the table to lay over Elvira's hands. "It's not fun growing up like that. I had a couple of good years that I remember with my mom. She was taken from me when I was nine. I found out later that she wasn't my biological mom. My dads had given me to her to protect me. I don't know who they are or where they are...The foster system is messed up. Too many cruel people slip through the cracks and manage to get kids to look after. Or rather, abuse. I was passed around too. But..." She trailed off, not about to bring up the pain she'd faced or the problems her powers caused. "No one had time for me. So I went back to the state home and was forgotten in the mass of kids. My dads left my mom money to look after me and it was given to me when I turned eighteen so I've used it to pay for school. And whatever else I need."

Elvira listened, her eyes focused on Roxy's face. When she finished she reversed their hand positions, her hands over Roxy's. "I guess we both had a rough start to things huh? Though I suppose our pasts helped to shape us into the people we are now." She smiled very slightly. "I'm glad we're friends now," She paused for a moment. "We are friends right? I've never really had many so I'm not completely sure..."

Roxy's smile wasn't as sad as she nodded. "Same for me. But yes, I do believe we are friends now. The start of a really good friendship. I'm talking late night Ben and Jerry's sessions over the latest breakup or problem and weird conversations about whatever strikes our fancy," she chuckled. "I'm going to confess that I've been really nervous. I tend to be too much for people. But I think we fit. I think we'll be a good match as room mates and friends."

Elvira chuckled and had a huge grin spread across her face. "I don't know about late night sessions, but after an all nighter, heck yeah." She almost started belly laughing, but kept that contained seeing as they were in a public restaurant. "I don't think you're too much, other people just aren't tolerant enough." She blushed slightly as she realized their hands were still together, so she gently pulled hers back and placed them in her lap. Dang it all, stop blushing! Why are you blushing in the first place! Stop it!

"Aw, thank you, El. That makes me feel good. Not the people not being tolerant but the me not being too much," Roxy told her, pulling her hand back and setting it in her lap. She noticed the blush and thought it cute on Elvira. "Unplanned all nighters can be hell. I look forward to this."

"As do I," Elvira's blush started to fade and soon went away after the waitress brought their food. El thanked her again and turned back to the food with a deep inhale. "Oh this smells so good!" The carbs would be pretty good for energy tonight. Speaking of which, she should ask about that. "Hey, so since I'm new in town, I have a couple of questions for the night owls. What is the crime like here? I don't want you to think I'm worrying, just needing to plan out routes and stuff for when I walk to class and such..." She asked between spoonfuls of soup.

Roxanne thanked the waitress as well before beginning to enjoy her meal with Elvira. "Well, it is a city so you should still be aware and careful, but I assume you already know that. Crime here can get bad. It's mostly muggings, hold ups, and bank robbery but every now and then, someone with powers shows up and tries reeking havoc. Thankfully, we've got more then just police forces looking out for us. There is at least one local vigilante who watches the city at night," she said with a smile. She was speaking of herself, of course, but Elvira didn't and couldn't know that.

Elvira almost spit out her soup. "Someone with powers?" She wiped a stray drop of soup from her chin with the napkin. "Please, do tell. I'd heard about powered people when I was littler, it was almost the only good thing about my childhood, but I'd never lived anywhere near one." How did this person operate? What were their powers? What do they do to the criminals? Would she run into them? Would they have a conflict? All of these questions and more were pouring through her mind.

"The vigilante has the ability to shapeshift. She keeps changing her looks and gives herself wings from what we've seen. She manages to stay out of the limelight though. Kind of like spiderman," Roxy explained, talking about herself cautiously but excitedly. "I don't know much about the others but there was a guy who could control rats who tried to take over the sewer systems once. He kept hurting the sanitation workers. I know Pixie, that's the vigilante's name, rescued them and put an end to this guy. She left him for the police to take before disappearing. But there are others with different powers."
