Gem-Trade Expiration Date
Forum-Index → Suggestions → Implemented → Gem-Trade Expiration Datesince the Gem-Exchange seems to get utterly clogged with out-of-date trades I vote for trades to last for a week at max. After that they would just expire and you'd have to create them anew.
One week should be long enough for trade agreements to go through but it will also stop hopeless offers from just being there forever.
I also vote that we get a notification about expired trades aka "Your Gem Trade [what you offered] [what you asked] has expired."
Anyone with me?
Although it is the person's business how long they are gone and what they are doing, they shouldn't be setting up trades and exchanges. That said, no one needs to accept trades in Gem Exchange, unlike the GTS where you have to wait for someone to accept your pokemon. In Gem Exchange you just have to have the right amount of gems and turn them in. So I can't really see a benefit in taking away those trade, no matter how long they've been there, if anyone can claim it.
Now there are some trades that are ridiculous like someone wanting 100 dragon gems for two normal gems, and unless part of a trade agreement no one is going to accept that. Those that have been there for weeks I wish could be cleaned out. But reasonable ones like maybe ten fighting gems for two ghost gems shouldn't be deleted. Anyone can claim it, they just need the right amount of gems.
These trades, even if they've been there a long time, are still valuable. It is not as if the longer the gem trades sit there the less their value is. Someone somewhere out there may be a new user, scroll by, and may want to trade ten fighting gems for two ghost gems on a trade that is two weeks old. Since the person who set up the trade doesn't have to accept it, it is not as if the person offering on an old exchange will have to wait for an acceptance.
If the gem exchanges were organized better, maybe with pages dating back awhile, then I'd be okay with that so that way only recent exchanges on on the front page and the old ones are further back. But they shouldn't be gotten rid of in hopes that the user will put them back up.
Since gems are at times hard to come by, and can take more than a week to get together, maybe people just don't have the gems at the time. We shouldn't be rushing people to get their gems and get out when gems aren't always common and easy to come by. Someone might see a trade, only need three more fighting gems, hunting for them, and a week later they get them but the trade is removed and now the user either doesn't want to put the trade back up or put an entirely different offer instead. Now that user wasted time on an old exchange that got removed.
So no support for rushing users to accept gem exchanges, for not giving users enough time to get gems, and since old trades don't hurt anyone and old trades are still valid and relevant.
That way the old trades are out of the way and more recent ones are visible and the older ones don't have to be on the same page.
That's why I suggested 1 week. Make it two weeks if you want. Or a month. This would just prevent trades that are simply hopeless from sitting there forever and clogging everything up.
Also if your trades gets deleted you can just set it up again.
Also how about a system to filter out inactive users? You could get a notification 1 day prior (or maybe two) "Your Gem-Trade is about to be erased. Do you wish to keep it?" You could just click yes and keep it for another two weeks.
