To be honest, if I were to make a Paintie based off of the main character from Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure, I would get copyright striked (which would be fair).

But if I were to, what should I do to NOT get copyright striked if I were to do it (like do I get rid of the fedora, his tux...)? This is what he looks like (Phantom R).

Regular black Fedora with red stripe + a navy color tint and a single breasted navy suit (this would separate the design a lot, you can't copyright mafia-esque trope) with a plain red tie. For shoes just use some casual leather shoes. That'd be suitable, I think. Like I said you can't copyright literal clothes unless they have similar resemblance. If you want to add hair, make it dark-brown tinted.

Making a Paintie based on a character breaks the copyright rules but making a Paintie inspired or has similar elements to it isn't. Just make sure the villager's name isn't the exact character's.

Then what should I rename it so I don't screw up and call it Phantom R or Raphael without knowing?

Idolum and Idolon is latin for Phantom, try that? There's Phantasma but too much Phantom-esque. Then you can call it Ido, which sounds p'cool not gonna lie.

Okay, so he'll be a Ferret. What fur color? Albino/White?

And if any of you are willing to do a Painite commission for the new villager, I will be willing to pay FC (as that's the only currency I got for right now) or PD (I only have 36k).

However, there are alterations as Musashi had said, since I do not want to break copyright rules and cause the FV Staff to reject it.

would anyone be selling any of their 5 digit villagers? i'm willing to pay in FC, but preferably stuff in PH (i would be glad to over pay if you ask for PH stuff aka PD or shinies etc.)

It was made by user nightmap when I posted in the "Draw a bean villager above you" thread. You might be able to ask them to make one. I don't know if they have an art shop or anything.

EDIT: I just checked out the forum posts they've made and none are art shops. They also don't have any in their signature or user page, so I guess you'd just have to ask about it.
