I guess one-liner posts are okay till the WHOLE RP dosen't get reduced to one-liners. It should be a balance of one-liners and paras.

Also, one liners are okay, but posts like
"user1-: Hi *begins to run in circles*
User2-: hi *takes out a revolver*"

Should be counted as illiterates. The posts abolutely kake NO sense and are 100 times worst than 1 liners.
(it's currently work-in-progress)

Agreed with PkmnTrainerV. Although, I have been in a roleplay where someone said many times that the rules have been changed to that you have to post at least a few lines, but people ignore, and continue to even write half a line. This too also annoys me. I guess in a way, one liners are okay, but they are quite excessive.

QuoteSeeing as some people on this site don't have English as their mother language, it would be hard for them to write up a whole paragraph, if they are still in the process of learning English, hence maybe they should either go with the newbie section, or the moderate section, if they are still learning and need to get hang of the English language.

I GREATLY disagree with this statement. I have RPed with non-native English typers who were learning the language. Even with grammatical errors, misused words, and a language barrier, they attempted to write full paragraphs and we held LONG RPs together. Sometimes we would have to ask the other person for clarification, but other than that it did not affect the length of the replies. It affected the quality, but that couldn't be helped and didn't ruin the experience for either of us.

So "English is not my native language. I am still learning." is not an excuse for one-liners in a more literate RP.

And for the "Charactername: -text- *action*" type of RPs, they aren't considered literate. They are classified as "Messenger styled" or "Illiterate" depending on where you are RPing like that. I do this kind of RPing in Out of Character posts, where my character wants to say or respond to something, but it isn't in the actual RP. (I do this quite frequently with one of my RP buddies and we wind up having a short messenger styled RP while we have a proper paragraph RP going on as well.)

And doing the different subforums? That won't work very well, if the fan-made forums are anything to go by. (There will be a looooot of threads made in the generic RP forum, people will post outside of their literary level, and the frustration at it will be worse)

Not everyone is this bad. Not everyone does one-liners. Not everyone expects everyone else to be perfect. It's just a majority of the RPs are based on illiterate styles or the difference in skill are vastly different.

Again, I'll use me for an example:
I tend to write a minimum of one paragraph and usually get two to five paragraphs. However, I have gotten up to SIXTEEN paragraphs in one reply before.

I don't mind RPing with someone where one paragraph is their usual length where they sometimes get up to three paragraphs or sometimes only have two or three sentences. At least they are making an effort.

I have three RPs going with three different people and all three have different literacy levels. One of them does one paragraph per reply, one does three, and my most compatible partner does two to six per reply. When that person does a three lined reply it's because we are in a situation where the characters are talking and waiting on baited breath for a reply. Otherwise it's a long reply.

But with three RPs going well, two of them below my usual post length, but all of them fun, there is no reason to claim a certain skill level is the best to pair with. The shortest reply partner doesn't use english as their main language, but it is still FUN to RP with them.

I understand what you mean, I have roleplayed with a few people before, and one of them doesn't have English as their mother language. They usually did one-liners and I admit, so did I, because I had only just joined Pokèheroes at this stage. But the person who didn't have English as their mother language did post quickly, but I struggled to understand what he was saying. Another who also doesn't have English as their mother language used a translator to type, and he did more than one line sometimes, maybe two or three, yeah, maybe there were a few small words that didn't make sense but we all know how bad translators can be sometimes. I also understand about how the sections could turn into a disaster, too, you can't really report someone for doing a one-liner in a semi-lit. The worst I have seen is someone doing about two lines in a semi-lit, and one of the mods told them to go and find a different roleplay, which I find quite unfair, at least they could have given the person a chance.
