"I suppose. Although us hybrids don't usually get it easy, do we?
Most of us have something eating away at our soul... although,
that's certainly nothing I can judge," Adeline responded almost
emotionlessly. Raven's eyes widened, looking at her in shock.
That's it, he thought, that's what she hides behind that
mask of hers.
Adeline turned to Raven, her face regaining innocency. "You
alright?" She murmured. Raven nodded, glancing over at Crystal.
crystal checked to see if she still had her joker on and sniffled,
rubbing her eye's as she leaned back, remaining quiet now.
adriane stepped out of the kitchen and smiled brightly.
''lunch is ready!'' she called out.
matthew perked up at the mention of food and got up, quickly making
his way to the dining room that connected to the kitchen.
Adeline nodded at Raven, heading over to the dining room. He
followed closely behind her, as he always did. Still on his
guard, even knowing that these people aren't threatening. Or at
least, a majority of them probably aren't. The Ice Dragon, who
Adeline still had a bit of skepticism about, followed them shortly
after.
adriane sat the table up with the dishes and silverware and had a
small tree like creature walk around the table serving up the food
that was cooked.
matthew was already sitting in the dining room and waiting
patiently as the food was served, though he stared at his serving
of food while his mouth watered.
Allium watched the little tree-like creatures prance around the
table in surprise. She had never seen a nature dragon use their
powers before, especially a human-hybrid. Hybrids were typically
weaker than normal dragons, but on a very rare occasion they would
turn out extremely strong. There was really no 'in between'.
Might be a myth, though, Allium thought, still watching the
creatures.
''i call him ent, since little tree spirit's that look like him are
called ent's, so the name fit's him well'' adriane said, smiling
brightly as she stroked ent's head on the pass.
ent gave a happy chirp sound and continued his work.
Allium nodded, looking at the other hybrids but realizing that none
of the others were nature dragons. "So, do you guys have full
control over your powers or...?" She trailed off, not knowing how
to put it.
''i have complete control over my fire'' matthew said.
adriane fixed some of the meal she and allium made and smiled at
her.
''i have control over my power's, so does crystal... beside's when
she is sound asleep, she occasionally make's a weather cloud appear
over someones head if they're close to her'' she said, then took
the small platter of food she put together for crystal and went out
to where she was to give it to her.
"I have control," Adeline said happily. Allium looked over at Raven
questionably, to which he nodded. "Technically, I do have full
control over my powers," he explained briefly.
Do they eat in silence? Adeline thought, spooning the food
into her mouth. It vaguely reminded her of her times with the
tribe, except... humane. Her tribe was a more old-fashioned one,
and they stayed in their dragon form almost all of the time.
matthew quickly finished and sighed contently.
''well i'm gonna head back into town later to see what i can buy,
the book's are always so strange yet exciting, and i'm a sucker for
those more modern kind of romance novels'' he said, stretching as
he yawned.
adriane sighed after she wiped her mouth off with a cloth
napkin.
''i swear, your wasting money on those weird book's....'' she
grumbled.
It's hard to believe they find joy in human entertainment. I
suppose Adeline is the same way, though, Raven thought to
himself, his eyes resting on Allium. She fidgeted uncomfortably in
her seat, rolling her shoulder back but wincing and shrinking back
in result. She shows her pain. Strange, considering how
conservative the water dragons are--and how prideful the fire
dragons happen to be. Part of a pack, perhaps? He thought,
eating whilst idle in thought. He was still tense, with all the
other strangers--strangers that could potentially kill or betray
him and Adeline.
''there really good books though adriane, you should read one
yourself'' matthew said.
adriane shook her head and scrunched her nose.
''there's no way in hell i'm reading one of those books matthew, so
shut up about it'' she said, returning to her meal.
matthew sighed and shrugged.
''your loss then'' he said.
"They get a bit repetitive, if I do say so myself," Adeline added
jokingly, scratching her cheek. She had a splitting headache and
her mind felt as if it were about ninety degrees Celsius, but she
smiled and tried to stifle it down. She rolled back her shoulder
and continued to eat.
(allium's the one with the shoulder wound, not adeline)
''try reading some of them, they're pretty good in my opinion''
matthew said.
adriane looked over and shook her head.
''not worth the time, especially with the kind's he has in that
room he has here in the cottage, he keep's those kind of books
hidden in there while he store's the other kind's out in the living
room'' she said.
his face grew a faint red and he crossed his arm's, looking up and
away from adriane.
''t-there not that bad once you read them...'' he grumbled, now a
bit embarrassed.
adriane looked at matthew and raised an eyebrow.
''dude your a hopeless romantic when it come's to romance novel's
and those manga books you keep hidden in there as well'' she
said.
''you weren't supposed to go in there! that's invading someone's
privacy you know!'' he shot back, his voice slightly cracking from
embarrassment and the blush becoming brighter now.
she grinned innocently and giggled.
''my house matthew, i'm letting you room here remember? so your
privacy is my amusement, especially when it embarrasses you''
adriane said.
