Alastar Aisling casually strolled through the grand capital city of Alacard. What was its name again? I've passed through so many towns they're all starting to blur together. The sun beat down upon his back as he weaved his way through the crowd, stopping to look at an outdoor shop that piqued his interest every now and then. He tried to pass under as many trees and shady overhangs as he could, but he could feel his arms and face getting crispier by the second since it was too hot to wear his tactician's coat, which was draped over his left forearm.
I can't wait until winter, that's the one time the weather doesn't make me uncomfortable, he thought dully as he exchanged a few coins for an apple, and settled down under some nearby shade under a tree at the side of the cobbled road. That was the one good thing about this country: at least in this tree-covered land there was plenty of shade to go around. He nearly grimaced as he remembered the mistake he'd make passing over the plains in the heat of summer. Frisk, Alastar's caribou pack animal (who was currently at a nearby stable to avoid too much attention), had seemed like it was about to collapse from heat exhaustion, along with its owner.
"At least the food is good," he mumbled under his breath before biting into his apple. Up north, they weren't able to grow fruit, and it was rare to see it come in from trade caravans or ships. Even then, it was dried fruit, which wouldn't spoil during the long journey. Apples were a particular favorite of Alastar because of their crispness, but he would take almost any that he could get his hands on. Except lemons. He had tried eating one once, and immediately regretted it. Of course it was only after that he learned that the juice was only used for flavoring, and in small amounts.

On his way through Ekwa, he heard whispers and rumors about a crazed man that plans to scatter the land with blood. Something else about war and a dragon. He had heard of a similar story, one of his favorites, of a Sorcerer who brought life back to a dragon whos power could destroy the world and how the noble Prince of Yllise had slew the beast and brought peace back to the world. But that happened 500 years prior. He wondered if someone had a similar plan to do so to Macaria.
She bit into an apple she'd nabbed earlier, silently cursing everything around her while she tried not to tug her clothes too much. She glanced around, observing anything that could possibly ruin her chances of success. She sighed loudly, throwing another glare at her mark.
((Sweats loudly))
Once inside I could hardly believe how many people there were. Sure I should have expected it, seeing as it's the capital, but it had never occurred to me how sheltered a life I had been living. Ducking into a side street gave me a bit more breathing room. The small shadowy alley felt much more inviting than the crowded streets. I know that seems stereotypical, the Dark Mage liking dark places, but the crowds were to much for me. It felt like my mind was bumping into everyone else. The city practically hummed with the thoughts of its citizens. A cold breeze rushed through the narrow space. Pulling my cloak tighter around me, I walked quickly through the various alleys. Eventually I found myself in an open market. The smell of fresh food filled my nose, while the sounds of penned animals filled my ears. I moved among the various booths, checking the price of things that looked tasty, or seemed useful. Everything was to expensive. I only had a few coins. Most of my money along the way had been spent on food and shelter, even though I could have camp outside instead. Walking along the cobblestone street, I spotted a few nice shade tree. Sitting back against one, I pulled outs small pack. Inside were the last of my food reserves. A few slices of dried fruit and some smoked meat. Sighing I pulled out the unsatisfactory meal and began eating.
