I took a screenshot on my phone so people can see what we mean (since I and L look different on my computer but virtually identical on my phone.

This is a reportable thing already... or not? (should be)

Is very unpleasant, and somehow offensive, see someone using a similar username to yours (intentionally and shamelessly) to have advantage on the game.

But a think this is a minor problem, so, nothing to worry about.

@Nessy, thanks a bunch. :D I've been playing on my laptop for a while now instead of my iPad, so I didn't realize the mobile vs. comp would look differently. You made my point even clearer. :)

@Iskandar, I'm pretty sure it isn't specifically listed in the rules that you should not try to convince other players you're someone you're not, since it seems pretty common sense to most of us, but I'm worried that scammers will just argue that they haven't broken any rules by doing so. If it is specifically mentioned, someone please let me know. :)

I found a spot in the rules that could sort of cover this issue.

This is valid for the whole site - including the Global Trade Station, the Auction House, the Gem Exchange and the forum.



This states not to do anything deliberately unfair, and I think pretending to be another user is being deliberately unfair, though it isn't specifically said.

Technically this is a rule, but it's not specific to impersonation
Rule 1.1 It is likewise forbidden to deliberately cause trouble... including... your own username
But I do think it should specify

I agree that this should be a specific rule. It's the reason why I was so hesitant to change my username. If another user picks up my old name they could very easily pretend to be me as that's the name I have on literally every site. If someone pretends to be me and scam others I'd like to be able to report that. Even if it wasn't scamming, I really wouldn't be comfortable with someone pretending to be me, even if they weren't actively harming or trying to harm anyone with it.

I feel like this is probably already against the rules somewhere by implication or association, but putting it in SPECIFICALLY is actually a really good idea! You've got support from me!
