"Doesn't matter!" Faith shouted. "We go to die! Say your goodbyes!" She shouted, as she took on the appearance of a shadow, and then blitzed over to the front line of the enemies, sucking their life dry. Tendrils of colorful energy were being sucked up into her mouth. And she enjoyed it. Every single minute of it.

"She's a cheery one, that dragon." an ODST next to Locke muttered sarcastically. Locke couldn't help but see the soldier's point of view. He started shooting without another word.

'Course I am!' Faith replied inside the soldier's mind, which caused him to yelp in surprise. She chuckled to herself as she flew up to avoid an ice spell.

Dutch threw a grenade into the midst of the enemies. After three seconds, arms, legs, heads and other parts of bodies flew high into the air. "These Chaos idiots couldn't tell a bomb from a melon." he said merrily.

A nearby goblin roared and charged headlong into Dutch, he began to shaken and stab rapidly with his blade, his other hand holding a shield he repeatedly banged on the ORION's head.

"My turn." Dutch said. He tore the shield of the goblin's arm, breaking a few of it's bomes, and smashed it once into the Chaos minions face. All that was left of it's facial features was a bloody dent. Dutch tossed aside the shield and checked the damage to his armor. His visor had chipped, but thankfully, not much harm had come to his armor thanks his shields. He waited for them to recharge and then noted he was out of ammo. He switched to his sidearm.

Locke dropped a few lines of goblins with well placed machinegun fire. An ODST next to him fell prey to a swarm of goblins. Locke started killing them too.

Faith cursed as her magenta eyes tried to look for the Demonspawn in the crowd of goblins. Thankfully whoever had deployed the force was an idiot. But she knew that Lord Discord was not an idiot, and all plans had to be checked over by him. By that logic, there was something bigger going on. She froze. The base was almost empty, save for a few personnel left behind in the infirmary, and some support crew. "Crap." Faith deadpanned. "Dutch! Locke!" She shouted. "The attack is a diversion!"

They understood at once. "Johnson, Dutch, with me! Everyone eles to the walls. Next person to take a step back will be pummeled out of the Corps!" Locke shouted, sprinting towards the base.

"Traitor!" One goblin shouted, a cry that was soon repeated up and down the ranks of the Chaos Minions. Faith laughed. Her eyes began to glow as bright as a star, and some of the older goblins wet themselves.
"Let us see who is the traitor! You killed my family. You destroyed my hometown. You burned my race to ashes. Now it is time for my revenge!" She yelled, and unleashed her flames once more, scattering the honking warriors.

Locke, Dutch and Johnson entered the bulding. There were three forks. One led to the infirmary, one to the armory and one to the lower level. Johnson went down to the armory, Dutch decided to go check on the infirmary, leaving Locke to the lower levels. The base had lost power and emergency lights bathed the corridors in dim red ligh. Locke tightend his grip on his Pistol.

A serpent lady smiled as she slithered along the corridors and halls leading to the armory. She had one task today. To steal as many weapons and armor as possible, for the scholars to reverse engineer. It was fairly simple, and she had with her an emergency teleporter if anything happened. She frowned as she heard footsteps outside. The soldiers had probably been warned by that idiot dragon. What an annoyance.

Johnson turned around. His didn't see anything. He slowly backed down the corridor into the armory. He turned on his gun's torch and scanned the area. Nothing.

Locke kept moving at quick pace. So far nothing strange had happened. He sincerely hoped it stayed that way.

Dutch checked each of the groaning patients in turn. A few of the were asleep. He continued past the infirmary to the upper levels.

'Traitor!' Faith hissed into the mind of the Serpentine lady. 'I am the rightful Queen to the throne! You act as the commander of your race. Surrender. There are a platoon of warriors headed towards you and I have disabled your emergency teleporter.'

Suddenly, Johnsin saw a serpent-like shadow. He swore and ducked into cover. He turned on his mission camera and peeked around the corner and fired a seven round burst.

Locke and Dutch heard the firing. They both radioed Johnson at once. "Johnson do you copy?" Locke asked. "Err... yeah." the reply came. Johnson had ducked back into cover and had no idea if the thing was dead.

'I told you so.' Faith told the dying Serpentine. 'Don't worry, it's dead.' She confirmed for Johnson. 'And you wasted what, five, six bullets with it?' She asked.

"Seven." Johnson replied, looking at his ammo counter. "Start coping." he said.

Locke finally released his pent up breath. Johnson was okay. That was the best news he'd had all day. Dutch seemed to be thinking along the same lines.

'Doesn't matter.' Faith replied as she smashed the skull of a Goblin. She than proceeded to burn anything around her.

"Okay, Dutch, guard the main entrance, Johnson, you take the back and other entrances. Nothing gets into this base unless it knows the ORION 'all clear'." Locke said. The ORIONs had developed an 'all clear' sign in their early years. It was a six note whistle followed by 'Oly Oly Oxen Free'. The usual reply was 'All out in the free. We're all free.' They had first used when they were tasked with escaping Tango Company. Only four people outside of the ORIONs knew it. Johnson and Dr Halsey, the woman who had been in charge of the ORION project, were the only two he could confirm were still alive.

Far, far away from the battlefield, a certain spirit serenely milled around her tree. Her eyes flickered with stars and galaxies as she knew what had gone on the few hundred years she was gone. And then, she was amused that she had destroyed the very project she helped create - after all, she had been in charge of the project, and of old had assumed a disguise. She wryly smiled. Well, it wasn't a complete failure if two still lived... three, if I count the retired girl. She thought. I wonder if they'd be pleased to see me, the one who both created them, and utterly annihilated them?

Faith's eyes glowed with a fell light as she ate, and she consumed all the life off of at least a dozen goblin warriors. The demonspawn was wreaking havoc somewhere else. Faith was a hissing and snarling black mass, killing all the Goblins it could touch.
