Copper rolled her eyes. "Sister is correct. My builders are an early prototype, semi-sentient creature designed to help me in my larger and projects. I lack most of my siblings' brute power, so they were created to compensate. They are capable of construction on the atomic level, thus allowing me to tear down base materials and convert them to mithril and orichalum. They have no weapons and no great capacity for destruction, but they can repair things at speeds unrivalled."

"Twelve million. And they may well be repairing each other." Jack reminded him from his place on the floor.
Didact shrugged. "Did you hear me saying it was going to be easy? What do we need to know about the strengths and weaknesses of these dragons?" The Forerunner asked.

"They're made of either mithril or orichalum. I believe the dragons could be destroyed from the inside, if you could make a gap in their plating." Sliuril provided. "Extremely high heat or permafrost temperatures should either stop or slow them down. They are mechanical, after all."

Beowulf appeared by Jack. "You don't get on too well with the Didact, do you?"
Jack shrugged. "Not really what we're talking about right now." He said. Beowulf nodded and remained standing.
"So, are you concerned about what's happening here?" The AI asked.
Jack hesitated. "It could go bad." The demon admitted reluctantly. "But that's why we're going to do something about it."

"Sounds like a job for the Master Chief." Naomi commented. "This is his AI we're chasing down, after all."
Sliuril shrugged. "Is Order Command even up and running?"
"Yes, Dr, it is." Naomi answered. Elijah could swear that she had also rolled her eyes, although he was pretty sure that was just him.
(If you wanna bring in John, go ahead. I think I'm handling about enough, because an old one is coming up soon.)

"I can bring in Knights in at my discretion. I'm sure Copper has her own to call upon as well." Didact nodded. "However, I question the intelligence of bringing in" here, he glanced somewhat apologetically at Naomi, "humans. Especially one who may care for the quarry." He finished simply.
Jack shrugged. In the end, it was more or less the same to him. He'd heard things about this Master Chief but he wasn't entirely sure it would be in his power to handle what they were facing.

"Noted, Doctor."
"Well, that's settled. You two will be going to the Godsphere-"
"Pardon?" Naomi cut in, unusually sharply for her. "Where?"
"I'm going back home?" Elijah asked, perking up. Sliuril fought not to smile at the child-like glee in his eyes. "Really?"
"You both will be safer there." Sliuril said. "Naomi, your main goal of preserving Aurora has been met, and the fireteam you went with is confirmed MIA. You can't go back to K-5."
"I thought I would be going with you." Naomi answered. She didn't much like separation, like all other SPARTANs. This seemed like something dangerous, and as a SPARTAN she should have been there with her teammates, even if she soft of hated some of them.
"Oh, trust me." Faith growled, eyes narrowed in annoyance. "You'll be nothing but an annoyance tagging along with us."
"Very well." Naomi agreed.

"You know, I still haven't decided whether or not I like him." He muttered. "But it's a good decision to send them both to the Godsphere."
"You'll have to tell me about it. I don't think my master would be welcome there."
Jack chuckled. "I don't think I am either, if it comes to that. Are we almost at Shimmervale?"
"Another twenty minutes." The AI replied.
Jack nodded and looked at the Didact, who was bent over readings and displays. "Must you monitor them so closely?" Jack asked. "I would've thought the AI would take care of all of that."
Didact shrugged. "I have no proof of it, but I'm fairly sure he's tried to kill me via neglect several times. It's something of a game between us now. He comes up with new ways to kill me, I come up with new ways to survive. Keeps me on my toes."
"Oh, yes, on that note, would you mind killing him?" Beowulf asked Jack.

"You need me to wrestle control of the Shimmervale facilities." Copper supplied. The ship flew over rows and rows of neatly planted rice paddies. A few farmers here and there looked up, saw the giant orb in the sky, and shrugged. It wasn't any of their deities, so to them the Cryptum didn't really matter.
In his main lair, a black dragon snorted in contempt as he saw the craft pass by, and stood. "Take care of matters here." He ordered curtly, not pausing to see if his minion had gotten that. Spreading his wings, Draugnur took flight, the few humans who saw him bowing in reverence as he passed by.
"We seem to be receiving guests right now." Copper commented, two mechanical dragons slithering to consciousness around her. "Don't you agree, Glaurug?"

"I see it." The Didact nodded. "Hold your course, but bring weapons to standby. We don't know what it is. Perhaps it'd be best to leave it alone."
The AI complied. Jack stood up and rolled his shoulders. "You don't seem to be familiar with our luck, Didact." Was the only comment he made. Beneath his helmet, Didact raised his eyebrow then shrugged.

"Cheer up." Copper replied. "At least you don't have to die a whole bunch. I do."
Draugnur drew closer to the ship, and the collection of familiar energies within. He could sense his daughter and two of his siblings - Copper, and the ever-so-obnoxious Sliuril, who stuck to Faith like glue to paper. To rip them apart would hurt his daughter, unfortunately.
He drew parallel to the craft, vaguely recognizing the design as Cooper's.
"I come in peace. For once." Draugnur growled.

"Draugnur." He confirmed.
"The one that-"
"Yes, yes." Jack nodded.
Didact uncovered the mic. "Do you want us to land or is this fine?" He asked.

"This arrangement is acceptable." Draugnur growled back. "What are you doing here? We agreed this area was mine. I demand an explanation."
"Cortana and Glaurug are here." Sliuril replied mentally, and physically for the benefit of Didact and Naomi. The AI, too, although that was just happenstance.
"Cor- what now?" Glaurug sighed. "Don't tell me you made another one of those toy soldiers."
Naomi's hands clenched into fists, but she quickly relaxed back. It was natural for them to dismiss the SPARTANs, she reminded herself. It didn't make it sting any less how powerless 'humanitys best' were in the grand scheme of things.
"No, no." Sliuril dismissed. "AI."
"Wonderful. I shall be helping get rid of it, then."

"You'll experience it yet." Jack promised.
"He has a way of dealing with things or getting lucky or something." Beowulf said. "Unfortunately."

Sliuril snorted. "That is one way to put it, that's for sure."
"You know, this is the biggest sibling teamup we've done since the Sundering." Copper said, a grin on her face. "Man, brings you back to the old days when mom and dad had us fighting Primordials instead of each other."
"Not a fun memory, Copper."
"Apologies, sister. I truly am contrite." Copper didn't look very convincing.
"Hey Beowulf, this might be beneficial for you." Faith snorted. "Gather new data and such."

"Beowulf." He said in a slight warning tone.
"Oh, very well." The AI gave a theatrical sigh. "If you could just list everything you've ever killed."
Jack raised an eyebrow.
"I'm joking. Tell me more about the Primordials. And your parents. And siblings, sure." The AI said.
"A comedian, huh?" Jack asked the Didact.
"I'd say you get used to it but you... you don't. You really don't." Didact told him.

"Took you look enough." The elder dragon grumbled, craning his neck up to look at Faith. "get down here, you know how to fly parallel already."

"Do we have a plan, or are we just going to take it as it comes?" He asked Sliuril.
"I think the last time we were forced to make an actual plan was maybe a week ago, when we had all those SPARTANs with us. You know, when they all died in a small village." Jack said.
"I get the feeling that this isn't a very stable group. Do you guys get a retirement plan or something?" Didact muttered.

"It's a terrible, dreadful, atrocious, fatalistic script, but we're not the ones who wrote it, we're just the players." Copper added.
"Yes, Father." Faith said, sounding like a reluctant child. She descended a few more meters, flying alongside Draugnur. Their wings, although constantly beating, did not snag each other.
