"Wait, no-" Didact began.

"Yes." Jack interrupted. "You just flew into a city and began taking to those gods that destroyed your race all those years ago."

The Didact crossed his arms, looking carefully at Sliuril and Copper, studying them in silence. Eventually, he pointed at Jack without taking his eyes off the two sisters. "I never believed those old stories." He muttered, now silently ordering his armor to run scans on the two.

"Evidently you didn't, because you don't recognize me. My Sistar I can understand-"

"Copper. I destroyed all those statues and stuff. Remember?"

"Oral history!"

"Forgotten, because someone killed the majority of them." Faith grunted.

"Are you really allowing him to scan you Princess?" Elijah asked.

"No harm in it." Sliuril hand-waved. "Between me, Jack and Faith, if something happened, the only one in danger would be the city. And the humans."

((I almost feel bad for Didact. But I still hold him for what he did in the Shadows that Keep.))

The scans came back. He decided he'd gone far too long without servicing his armor. But the names sounded familiar.

"Okay. Let's say there's something to your story. Then I can reasonably conclude that you're the source of the energy spikes." The Didact said.

"Great, the detective is done. Satisfied now? Can you leave?" Jack asked.

The Didact glared at him and took a single step in the direction of the demon.

"I wouldn't." Jack said, using his magic to hold the Forerunner's foot. The Didact felt the hold and his frown deepened. With a grunt, he ripped his foot out of the hold. "I will be going no where." The Forerunner growled. It was Jack's turn to frown.

"Please leave." Sliuril agreed, frowning. "We have things to do that doesn't include answering... Doing... Whatever."

"Yes. Glaurug is still in trouble." Copper agreed. "You said you detected energy waves and decided to go here to seek them out. I assure you the matter is dealt with, Ur-Didact."

"Can we jump to the part where we have a huge disagreement and we destroy things?" Faith asked.

"As violent as it sounds I am agreeing." Naomi thought, although she didn't say so. The Immortals could talk back to Didact all they wanted, he could still pulverize her.

"I'm afraid I'm going to have to stay. The Forerunners hold the Mantle of Responsibility. That means that we make sure that things that could pose a threat to the world- that's you- can't do so. Fighting me will only reaffirm my decision. And who's this Glaurug?" The Didact asked.

Jack was growing irritated. The Forerunner wasn't backing down and he was acutely aware of the sort of danger Glaurug could be in.

"This is taking way too long!" Copper decided throwing her arms in the air. "And I don't even know what the Mantle of Responsibility is! Sliuril hurry up, Cortana could go rampant at any moment."

"It's that teensy tiny rule that we can't wipe out sentient races one they form." Sliuril answered before turning to Didact. "Look. We need to leave. I won't stop you if you want to stay or come or whatever, but if you prevent us from leaving we will take offence. And rest assured, we pose no threat to the world at large."

The Didact made a decision. "You can go as you like. But I'm coming with you. This... Cortana... seems just as dangerous. I shall have to assess that situation as well." He said with an air of finality.

Jack groaned.

"... Sliuril, can we really not?" Faith all but whined. "Please?"

"No more killing my people." Copper answered for Sliuril. "And you. Can you sense Glaurug, at all? He still somewhere in the region."

Sliuril shook her head. "I can't, but Naomi might still be able to locate his FoF tags." The two looked at the SPARTAN expectantly.

"Several hundred kilometers from here. We would need a ship, if everyone is coming."

At this, everyone turned to either Didact or Copper.

Can you hijack his. Sliuril asked Copper.

The Didact did a quick head count. "There's more than enough room on the Cryptum. I would like you to understand that I wish you no ill. I'm just trying to make sure that it remains that way. I'll help you get to your friend. Should you choose to, the shipboard AI will take use to those coordinates." The Forerunner said.

Jack wasn't quite ready for the change of tone and decided that he didn't trust this Didact. Not that he would present any threat, but on general grounds.

"Thank you and much appreciated." Copper answered for the group. They didn't have a lot of options, really. Her wings were still pretty much useless and she doubted a single dragon would have been able to take them all. Portals used up too much energy. "You can dismiss the force here, Sliuril."

Sliuril shrugged. Relaying the order to Evan. His men began to gather outside of Aurora.

"Very good." The Didact said. He turned and walked into the Cryptum. As he walked in to the command center, a sly voice hissed "Well?"

"Oh, don't pretend you weren't listening, Beowulf." The Didact told the AI. "Be ready to receive those coordinates."

On one of the control panels, a green light flashes in affirmative.

Jack looked at Copper and then shrugged. The situation was confused. He'd go with whatever the others decided.

Naomi rattled off the coordinates, trusting the shipboard AI to catch them. This ship was unlike anything she had ever seen. A sleek, modern design that glowed the same orange as Copper and Glaurug did. She was beginning to see how Copper called herself their creator. At the very least, Dr. Halsey certainly took after her sister.

The others filed in behind her, faith the most reluctant of all.

Jack was the last to get on. As soon as he was, the ramp was pulled in and the opening closed.

"Plotting course." Beowulf rasped. Jack felt the Cryptum lift off, but it was almost imperceptible. "We're on our way." The Didact confirmed, hunched over readouts and screens. "If you can find any comforts on this ship, feel free to enjoy them. I have food, but I don't think the likes of you would indulge in such things."

"Feeling crabby, are we?" Beowulf hissed.

"Shut up."

Copper sighed. "You know, this isn't exactly a battleship. More of a..." She hesitated to say the word prison, but it was what she had originally designed the Cryptum to be. Oh well.

Sliuril found somewhere to sit down that wasn't an interface or the floor or a table. "Just curious, Didact. What did your armor scans show?"

Didact shrugged. "A lot of things. It couldn't identify either of you, which was curious, to say the least. But what really caught my attention was the energy readings. Extremely high. Not that I'm saying that that makes you gods, but I know how stories change as well as anyone. What could have been a devestating battle against powerful sorcerers can, through time, become a war against the gods. Might make us feel better that we lost as well." The Forerunner said.

"It also gave me your blood type, muscle density, bone structure and a few things besides, but that's hardly the point."

Jack raised an eyebrow. "Is scanning considered to be an acceptable way of greeting someone?" He asked, voice dripping in sarcasm.

The Didact shrugged again. "Lets see how well that mask serves you when I decide you're worth the suit's processing power."

If Sliuril had been drinking anything, she would have spit it out. As it was, she had to settle for an incredulous snort. "I would think that he would be just as unidentifiable as either of us, perhaps even more so, seeing as he doesn't come from this world."

"How long until we get there?" Copper asked.

"I don't think we should be going here." Glaurug murmured, shifting uneasily on his feet. "They don't seem very friendly."

They had moved to a bigger settlement, no longer in the permafrost zones of the North. The Immortals' appearance had drawn a lot of attention, not all of them friendly.

"How about this," Beowulf said, his hooded and shadowy avatar appearing in the middle of the floor. "You tell me how quickly you want to get there an I'll work around that. At our current speed, it should take around fifteen minutes."

"That's the ship's AI." Didact said, waving a hand dismissively. Jack tilted his head as he looked at the avatar. It was about as tall as him and seemed to be smoke having formed the figure of a hooded man. Nothing was visible under the hood, except, slowly flickering in and out of existence, two very faint red eyes.

"As soon as possible." Copper answered. "We're trying to track someone down, he's probably in danger. But I'm pretty sure the ship sensors would have told you so while we were discussing the matter."

The AI nodded. "Very well." Jack felt the ship speed up slightly. "Make that just under ten minutes." Beowulf relayed.

The Didact nodded. "Good. So, tell me, what sort of trouble is your friend in?" The Forerunner asked. "You mentioned somebody named Cortana."

Jack remained silent. He didn't know much, but he trusted Sliuril enough to know that when she said Glaurug could be in danger, she meant it.

"Cortana - one of my sister's flawed AIs - somehow accessed a spare chassis I had nearby. Glaurug is under the impression that she is me. We don't have a lot of information on Cortana herself, but recently she went rampant."

"And threathened one of my SPARTANs." Sliuril added. "He only survived being attacked because I had someone guarding him. Cortana seems somewhat stable externally, but we have little knowledge of her goals. We're worried what Glaurug would do before he realizes he has the wrong person."
